Crossroads System - Jade Harley - 01-13-2016 Alright, so, this could have some implications for my Alternate character's stuff in the future or it might not. :wotwot: The basic idea is, there is a Crossroads in each of the nine main verses. Each crossroads is manned by a single demon with a direct ticket to the Underverse. This demon is probably Prime, and I have yet to write any of them up but I'm thinking each one will be borrowed from a different source. I'm open to suggestions about who they might be, if this were to become a thing. What they can do: - Retrieve an item or a weapon required for a move that has already been purchased by the player, kind of like a fetch quest. - Transport direct messages. (Including to those in the Underverse, but this link is not two ways. Unless someone says it can be.) - 'Banish' Primes by using an already-purchased (by the banish-er) banishment circle. - They can attempt to slay someone for you, but if the targeted character has a bounty, the bounty will become irreclaimable. Also, the demon can be fended off against. - Other stuff that doesn't slip by OM costs. What they definitely cannot do: - Simply banish someone with no OM costs involved. - Transport Primes to and from the Underverse. It's a one-way ticket down below. - Automatically slay someone. No insta-kills. - Other stuff that breaks the rules, probably. There would be "quest requirements" to summon them, as well! I'm borrowing heavily from Supernatural lore with this, haha. The basic description is this: Supernatural Wiki Wrote:Crossroad Demons are demons tasked with "buying" souls for Hell through deals with humans. These deals consist of the demon granting the human's wish in exchange for ownership over that person's soul, resulting in the person dying and going to Hell to be transformed into a demon upon death. Crossroad demons are named as such because they in particular can be summoned at crossroads by humans seeking to make deals. So, let's see.... souls can't really be used as a currency in the Omniverse-- at least, I don't think so. Unless we can make that kind of an.... I don't know, a RP fodder thing? Does losing your soul count as RP fodder? Maybe it would be better to come up with OM pricing for each task. Continuing on, Supernatural Wiki Wrote:A Crossroad Demon can be summoned by digging a hole in the dead center of a set of crossroads and burying a box containing a picture of the mortal wishing to make the deal, some graveyard dirt, and a bone from a black cat. There's the "quest" ^, pretty much. So, would that be cool or nah? I thought it would be neat story idea, kind of like creating an interesting way to handle banishment that doesn't exactly change much about banishment itself. It wouldn't be the only way to banish someone, it would just be another option that isn't super abrupt and has more of a ritual feel or something to it. Also, it adds another way for people to obtain their character's precious weapons/miscellaneous purchasable items/Secondaries(?????) other than by simply summoning them. sorry if this was actually a very bad idea lmao Re: Crossroads System - Harlan Higgs - 01-13-2016 I nominate the Cigarette Smoking Man from X Files as a possible demon.
