Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Discussion (SPOILERS) - King Axorn - 12-18-2015 I'm about to go see it :mygod: Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Discussion (SPOILERS) - Zack Fair - 12-18-2015 C'mon guys, this is the Omniverse, the internet's greatest stat-based play-by-post roleplaying game, not the bush leagues. We're all smarter than to do that. That said, the problem with seeing the first showing is that you have like no one else to talk to about it so feel free to PM me or Skype me (if I have it on) because I'd love to discuss it in detail. Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Discussion (SPOILERS) - Dean Winchester - 12-19-2015 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Stealing net from the folks, just got back from seeing this! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I liked it! That is all I am saying! Well, other then this; It is NOT my favourite. It is ONE OF my favourites though. I still like Empire a hell of a lot better. Still.... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Discussion (SPOILERS) - Yu Kanda - 12-20-2015 I really thought the movie was amazing !!! Some of my thoughts on it... even though it says spoiler in the title... i will still put it under spoiler... DO NOT CLICK IT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED !!!!! WARNING THIS CONTAINS ACTUALL SPOILERS !!! ( can't be any more clear, from this point out if you click it you are just asking for it )
First thing... I really felt Kylo ren should never take off his mask, ever. It really killed the character's vibe for me. He comes across like a childish prick. Also, Snoke... its like they pulled it out of someone's ass. Where the hell did he come from ? Like, there were no sith left in the universe ? Where was he when the emperer ruled ? My oppinion, i prefered the Books with Grand admiral thrawn as the antagonist. Loved the movie, its a fun sequal to 6 BUTTTT i missed a bit of the star wars feel, cannot really put my finger on it Also, Rey is daughter of ???? it has to be someone we know... i mean its hollywood. So either Luke's kid...or sister of Kylo ? I mean there probably is a relationship between it all. The Solo scene made me sad Fynn and Rey were both great characters though, and BB8 outplayed R2-D2 as likeable robot if you asked me xD. Loved how they got the Falcon back, i mean that was amazing. The wreckage of stardestroyers in the sandy wasteland was amazing.... i mean you actually see the wreckage the war brought with it. VERY nice touch. I wanted to see more of Phasma ![]() Another death-star like weapon ? really ? Cmon !!!! In the books they had a new weapon... a 1 man ship that blew up suns by flying into it... i mean that was new and original !!! this is just the same old trick in a new jacket. ( not that the effects weren't fucking awesome.) Luke... BEARDED LUKE !.... it was awesome....granted he was only in it for like 5 seconds but it gave me goosebumbs. The spacebattles were,,,, amazing... like really fucking awesome. I loved how they threw off the audience by making Rey the jedi instead of Fyn, And can i get a HOORAY for Chewie's crossbow finally being awesome !!! CANT WAIT FOR EPISODE 8 AND NOW I WANT TO WRITE FOR MY JEDI CHARACTER DAMNIT !!!!! *gets back into the old republic... damn i love the old republic.*
I warned you ... you shouldn't have clicked it dumbass -.- now you are spoiled Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Discussion (SPOILERS) - Corporal Light - 12-20-2015 Just because I love the movie so much, I will hopefully try to explain certain parts of the movie. Do not click spoilers if you don't want to be spoilered.
First, Kylo Ren. Imho, he is one of the most complex villains in Star Wars just BECAUSE he isn't a badass. I find it difficult for any new Star Wars villain to be able to outdo Vader and Emperor in terms of who's the bigger badass, so Abrams made a good call and just had Kylo be what Anakin should've been in the prequels. He rarely whines, yet he's clearly conflicted with a lot of things typical of most teenagers. e.g Living up to his parents legacy, potential betrayal of being sent away by his parents, Snoke's promise to give him more power to live up to said legacy, and a whole manner of other things. I will agree, though, that Kylo Ren removing his mask jarred me a little, though I think that was because he got humanized almost immediately afterwards. I will say again, Kylo isn't an easy character to say as "this" or "this" purely because he's so conflicted with himself. As for Snoke, I don't really know. However, considering the sources half the stuff of the movie comes from, I would say Snoke is either the Emperor or Darth Plageus, purely because they both make sense. And I totally believe Rey is the daughter of Luke Skywalker for two reasons. The first is that she's immensely powerful without training with the force. The only other force user in the galaxy with that power is Luke. This is a fact. The second, and the most important reason, is that when Kylo starts force-interrogating Rey, he specifically mentions that she goes to a happy place that had "a huge ocean.... islands." Guess where we find Luke at the end of the movie? What makes the Solo scene all that harder to bear for me is when I interpret what Ben says as "I don't know if I should kill you or not." instead of "I don't know if I should join the Light Side." I love pretty much all the characters. Abrams and Kausden did a great job with all of them. I specifically like how the script is great all across the board. I would kill to write dialogue like that. Yeah, Phasma should've been in the movie a bit more. I hope she doesn't die lamely by being crushed by a fucking trash compacter. As for the Death Star, I think that ties in to what Star Wars is about: A bildungsroman legacy tale. Seriously, rewatch all of the previous movies front to back. It is astonishing just how many similarities and parallels there are between the prequels and the originals. Let me list some from the first movie - Opening starts off with a battle inside a space ship - Main Jedi character is found on a desert planet - Main Jedi Character is also missing parents - Main Jedi Character is a whiny brat at the start of the movie - Main Jedi Character knows how to pilot some form of a landspeeder - Main Jedi Character is forced to abandon parent figures to become a Jedi - Mentor Figure teaches the Main Jedi Character about the force and the Jedi - Mentor Figure dies to Main Sith while some other character reacts with rage. - Main Space thingy is destroyed by blowing up some vulnerable part of it by Main Jedi Character This is just in the FIRST MOVIE. Granted, some of these are kinda grasping at straws, but the parallels are undeniable. I have always viewed Star Wars as being a legacy tale through the Skywalker family, and all that they have done in the galaxy. So there are bound to be similarities. And yeah. Everything about the movie is awesome.
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Discussion (SPOILERS) - Proto Man - 12-23-2015 I loved this movie.
I couldn't take Kylo Ren seriously after he removed his helmet because I've seen the TV show 'Girls'. Go watch a few episodes of that show and try to take that guy seriously, even after he ghosts one of my favorite characters. Can't do it. And yea, she's gotta be Luke's kid. That became my guess when they had the scene with the lightsaber in the trunk. I liked that... even like 60 years later, R2D2 is still the one with like, (almost) all the answers. He just so happens to have 90% of the map that leads to Luke?! Surely he could have shared that information and they could have just, extrapolated the rest of the map?! Friggin' R2D2. I was genuinely surprised to see C3PO, I didn't think he was going to be in the film, which begs the question... WHY IS HIS ARM RED?! That is the burning question. I loved all the characters. They all felt very real, which was something I kind of missed that didn't exist in the prequels, where our stars were a block of wood and a like, 15-year-old Natalie Portman.
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Discussion (SPOILERS) - Artoria Pendragon - 12-23-2015 Yu Kanda Wrote:I really thought the movie was amazing !!! Some of my thoughts on it... even though it says spoiler in the title... i will still put it under spoiler...
I can't say I was surprised at all that Rey was the Jedi... But opinions opinions. As for fun facts; Kylo Ren AKA Ben. Ben Skywalker? (Child of Mara Jade & Luke Skywalker) Ben Kenobi? (Obi Wan Kenobi, duh) I love the homage they pay both to the extended universe, as well as the original movies. I was amused by the nazi references. (The guy giving the really yelling speech before they fired the weapon, the arm gesture) The general/generic Star Wars stichk that they start from a sandy planet..homage homage.. Vader helm... Homage.. Such fun things. Oh, and Rey is definitely the daughter of Luke, and someone. Pls bring back Mara Jade, pls?
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Discussion (SPOILERS) - Dean Winchester - 12-23-2015 OK, since other people have I will add in here. Again do not click if haven't seen do not want spoiled blah blah blah.
There are two prevailing theories for Rey right now. 1) She is Skywalker's kid. 2) She is somehow Obi Wan's grandkid. This one is because remeber when she touched the light saber and had the flash back? There was Obi-wan's voice (Both Alec And Ewan saying "Rey, You have taken your first step." or something like that. I like that they got both old and new obi-wan in there. They took a clip from Alec saying afraid and cut it to sound like Rey. I am really hoping that she is related to obi-wan. Who knows what he got up to when he was in hiding. Secondly, I liked Kylo Ren, Aka Ben Solo. He wasn't bad ass no, but he was relateable. Living in your parents shadow, having an uncle who is the most famous jedi out there, all that pressure? It is a small wonder the kip snapped. As for Snoke the prevailing theory is that he is Plageus. J.J says no, but has he EVER lied to us about movie characters? *coughKHANcough*
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Discussion (SPOILERS) - Magus - 12-23-2015 2nd best SW movie... Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Discussion (SPOILERS) - Illidan Stormrage - 01-13-2016
Good things: - Characterisation. Probably the best of any Star Wars movie. They were all rather fleshed out and there was definitely character progression (though I think Kylo Ren needed more screen time/development, because he felt a little weak). BB-8 was a great new R2-D2. - Effects. Not much to say there, but it was cool to see a little less CGI than I was expecting. - Fan service. Really good without going off the deep end. Bad things: - Recycled plot. Basically A New Hope version 2. Pretty disappointing. - The ease in which Rey picks up Jedi techniques. She just learns shit that took Luke three movies to not only discover, but also train and master. What the fuck was that scene where she just does the Jedi Mind Trick? Who the fuck would think you could do that a) ever, and b) with the Force, when she doesn't even understand the fucking Force? I'm sure it was there because the writers found it too hard to teach her the skills properly in their allotted time, but DAMN IT that was annoying.
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Discussion (SPOILERS) - Okor - 01-13-2016 ![]() Best part of the movie. Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Discussion (SPOILERS) - Kylo Ren - 01-13-2016 Okor Wrote:
They offically gave him a name and back story. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/FN-2199
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Discussion (SPOILERS) - Gilgamesh - 01-13-2016

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Discussion (SPOILERS) - Yuuko Asou - 01-13-2016 First off, yes. I'm glad somebody made a topic about this since I was half-tempted to do it myself. As far as my take, I loved the movie and it felt like a return to form. To be honest, I was worried when I first heard J.J. Abrams was the director for this movie. I absolutely hated the Star Trek reboot movies. However, I am willing to admit he did a good job with Star Wars and I am actually looking forward to Episode 8, 9 and even those side movies Disney has in store. Without spoiling anything, I'll add my voice to the choir and say go see the movie. If you don't want to be spoiled, don't open the spoiler tag.
My favorite scene had to be when Ben was having another one of his hissy fits while slashing apart the base and these two stormtroopers patrol down the hall, see the debris flying out of the hall and then turn right around and patrol elsewhere. I think this is the first time in a long time we have seen smart/competent stormtroopers. I think we also need more of that ace rebel pilot, Poe, since he can try to fill the gap left by Han Solo as the smart mouthed character. As sad as it is to see Han go out like that, I think Harrison Ford did a great job reprising his old role. And I loved how Chewbacka went berserk after Han died. A part of me thinks the wookie should have thrown an even bigger fit and left a trail of bodies between the generator and the Millennium Falcon. I like to imagine that he did it off screen which is why the emo, darth vader wannabe didn't get any backup in his fight with the protagonists.
|
