Bejeweled Blade Gem Quests! (FINISHED!) - Koren - 12-06-2015

So, now that I finally got this character set up, this will be the topic where I post the Gem quests. Note: these quests unlock abilities and moves on this character only if used by the current sword-bearer of the Bejeweled Blade.

You may now start the Quests! The NPCs will be created based on demand. (i.e. if someone wants to do the Ruby of Fire quest, I will begin creation of the NPC Prime (if any))

Quests:

Quartz of Balance:
Location: The Nexus
Difficulty: Virtually non-existent (500-1000 words)
Undertakeable by: Current sword-bearer only.
Description: The Quartz of Balance is usually the first gem to enter the sword and is normally present in the area where the sword first entered the dimension. It grants the sword the ability to fuse with the sword-bearer, giving the spirit of the sword vision and hearing through the eyes and ears of it's partner. This is an absolute necessity in battle as it allows the blade and wielder to fight as one.

The Quartz has trapped itself inside the Fountain of Infinity and is only accessible when the fountain is in a specific state which only appears when the blade is nearby.
Reward: Quartz of Balance

Citrene of Electricity:
Location: Coruscant
Difficulty: Hard (10 000-20 000 words + fight with NPC Prime)
Undertakeable by: Anyone
Description: The Citrene of Electricity is one of the elemetal gems of The Bejeweled Blade and grants many combat abilities associated with said element. It also grants access to the dimension's version of the internet (if any) to the sword (in this case, the Dataverse).

Some scientist gone mad on Tier 7 has harnessed the crystal's energy to reawaken a large, powerful robot know as Deus Ex (summon from Bravely Default). The crystal's power ended up screwing with the programming of the robot and it promptly killed it's creator and went on a wild rampage, destroying factories and other buildings on the tier. The Empire hasn't done much about it because they just don't care about Tier 7 anymore. The robot has been known to use the crystals power for offensive and defensive attacks made from pure electricity. The rumors about this robot have far surpassed the number of rumors of the smaller rampaging Tier 7 robots because of its immense power.

If you wish to fight this fiend, you will need to follow clues as to its current whereabouts in order to find it and then hopefully win a fight against it.
Reward: Citrene of Electricity

Jasper of Earth:
Location: Camelot
Difficulty: Hard (10 000-20 000 words + fight with group of NPC Secondaries)
Undertakeable by: Anyone
Description: The Jasper of Earth is another of the elemental gems in the Bejeweled Blade's arsenal. It unlocks powers and moves associated with its element as well as unlocking one level of Enhanced Senses for the sword, which is quite useful as it allows the sword to "see" even if it is not fused with another character.

The Jasper of Earth has been hidden in a series of sub-terrain tunnels below the surface of multiple areas in Camelot. It has re-awakened a number of earth golems (Guild Wars 2) that are plotting against the surface-dwellers. They protect th Jasper with their lives and even worship it for bringing them back into being.

Once these beings launch an attack, rumors will spread about them and Camelot will issue a Call to Arms to destroy the heart of these beings.
Reward: Jasper of Earth

Howlite of Air:
Location: The Endless Dunes
Difficulty: Hard (10 000-20 000 words + fight with NPC Prime and secondaries)
Undertakeable by: Anyone
Description: The Howlite of Air grants the sword the ability of flight and multiple air and wind-based abilities. It also grants a level of Enhanced Senses to the sword.

The Howlite of Air has re-awakened Lord of Air Al'Akir within the Throne of the Four Winds (WoW). He has since decided to wreak havoc on the Dunes from his residence high above the clouds by causing massive and more frequent storms. In order to reach him, you must defeat The Conclave of Wind, four powerful elemental beings affiliated with the four cardinal winds. They reside with Al'Akir in the Throne of the Four Winds.

Reaching their home and defeating both the Conclave and Al'Akir will reward you with the gem you seek.
Reward: Howlite of Air

Emerald of Nature:
Location: The Tangled Green
Difficulty: Hard (10 000-20 000 words + fight with NPC secondaries)
Undertakeable by: Anyone
Description: The Emerald of Nature grants abilities to the blade that are associated with its element, similar to the other elemental gems.

In order to aquire this powerful item, you will have to make your way through a covered maze of vines and thorns in a remote area of the Tangled Greens that the gem has created. The maze is filled with puzzles, mutated wildlife, and constantly shifting hallways.

If you do succeed in reaching the center of the maze, you will be rewarded with what you seek.
Reward: Emerald of Nature

Sapphire of Water:
Location: The Vasty Deep
Difficulty: Hard (10 000-20 000 words + fight with NPC Prime)
Undertakeable by: Anyone
Description: The Sapphire of Water is one of the many elemental gems the blade must collect to obtain its full power. It grants water-based attacks and abilites associated with its element.

At the bottom of the Vasty Deep there is a cave that houses the Leviathan, a creature that has been re-awakened by the gemstone. Nobody is quite sure where its cave lies, but there you will find it and the gem of water.
Reward: Sapphire of Water

Moonstone of Mind:
Location: The Pale Moors
Difficulty: Hard (10 000-20 000 words + fight with NPC Prime)
Undertakeable by: Anyone
Description: The Moonstone of Mind grants the sword another level of Enhanced Senses as well as the power of telekinesis and perhaps Foresight and some moves associated with it.

In a remote area of the Pale Moors lies a smaller, less prominent castle, this castle is home to many strange occurrences including candles flickering on and off, doors and windows opening and shutting and many other similarly scaled incidents. Only one person has ever entered the building, and has never returned, some say he went insane and committed suicide, while others believe that he became controlled by the forces manipulating the area.

Recent reports have seen that occasionally, when the correct candles are lit, a strange moonstone can be seen from the window.

Enter if you dare, to solve the puzzles and mysteries in order to claim your prize.
Reward: Moonstone of Mind

Ruby of Fire:
Location: The Ashen Steppes
Difficulty: Hard (10 000-20 000 words + fight with NPC Secondaries)
Undertakeable by: Anyone
Description: The Ruby of Fire, like the other elemental gems, grants the sword abilities according to its element. In this case, abilities of fire, lava, or the like.

Journey into the veins of a recently re-activated volcano, and overcome the trials and traps within to find the gem! Beware, it seems as if the rocks and magma around you are alive, and conspiring to consume any intruder.... (Thanks to Dante for that!) These elemental creatures are known as lava slugs, creatures purely made out of volcanic rock and magma, with a hard, obsidian heart that's tough to pierce, yet still susceptible to the slightest scratch.

Overcoming these trials and escaping before the volcano erupts will reward you with your prize.
Reward: Ruby of Fire

Aquamarine of Ice:
Location: The Frozen Fields
Difficulty: Hard (10 000-20 000 words + fight with NPC Prime)
Undertakeable by: Anyone
Description: The Aquamarine of Ice grants The Legendary Sword abilities associated with cold and ice, and functions very well in conjunction with the Sapphire of Water.

Deep in the Frozen Fields lies a sealed temple that has become a ruin over time, eventually becoming swallowed up by the ice and snow of the Frozen Fields. Finding it is only the first step, as you must still deal with the horrors within. After finding the temple and opening its sealed entrance, you will find yourself face-to-face with Glacius(Killer Instinct), the guardian of this gem.

Defeating Glacius will reward you with the coveted Aquamarine of Ice.
Reward: Aquamarine of Ice

Opal of Spirit:
Location: The Astral Plane
Difficulty: ???
Undertakeable by: Anyone
Description: The Opal of Spirit is one of the more powerful gems in usable by The Bejeweled Blade. It grants the sword abilities that include ghosts and similar spiritual abilities. It also grants another level of Enhanced Senses if not already maxed out.

The Opal of Spirit is normally obtained by entering the current dimension's spiritual world and receiving it from a spirit. In the Omniverse, said spirit is Koh the Face Stealer.

Koh is quite a dangerous spirit to converse with, since one small hint of emotion will send you straight back to The Nexus. But if you can convince him to give you the gem, the Opal of Spirit will be yours.
Reward: Opal of Spirit

Hematite of Chaos:
Location: The Void
Difficulty: Virtually non-existent (500-1000 words)
Undertakeable by: Current sword-bearer only.
Description: The Hematite of Chaos is one of the most powerful gems, and usually one of the last ones the sword finds.

The only way to find the Hematite is for the sword to be able to sense it with Enhanced Senses since it is hard to come across in the darkness of The Void.
Reward: Hematite of Chaos

Diamond of Light:
Location: The Oververse
Difficulty: ???
Undertakeable by: Anyone
Description: The Diamond of Light is another very powerful gem that grants light-based abilities to the sword. It is usually in the possession of a higher being or power and said being must be convinced to hand over the gem. In this case, it is in the possession of Omni

A player that wishes to acquire the gem must first travel to the Oververse and then convince or ask Omni for the gem. If the player is successful, they will receive the gem.
Reward: Diamond of Light

Onyx of Darkness:
Location: The Underverse
Difficulty: ???
Undertakeable by: Anyone
Description: The Onyx of Darkness is another very powerful gem that grants dark-based abilities to the sword. It is usually in the possession of a higher being or power and said being must be convinced to hand over the gem. In this case, it is in the possession of Diablo.

A player that wishes to acquire the gem must first travel to the Underverse and then convince or ask Diablo for the gem. If the player is successful, they will receive the gem.

This gem is the polar opposite of the Diamond of Light and has a very similar quest.
Reward: Onyx of Darkness

Agate of Technology:
Location: The Dataverse
Difficulty: Hard (10 000-20 000 words + fight with NPC Prime)
Undertakeable by: Anyone
Description: (WIP) The Agate of Technology allows The Bejeweled Blade to take on more technologically advanced forms and use the abilities of these powerful forms.

A player who wishes to acquire the gem must first enter the dataverse physically via a Dataverse Uplink Station. Then the player must find their way to The Path, a series of trials hidden in a remote area of the Dataverse. A number of Primes have previously attempted to complete The Path for fame and bragging rights but so far none have succeeded. The trials are shrouded in mystery and few even know the path exists. But should you complete it, you will be rewarded with a precious gem.
Reward: Agate of Technology

Re: Bejeweled Blade Gem Quests (WIP) (Help and Feedback Need - Deadpool - 12-06-2015

Just as a heads up . . .

Unless Staff condones special items/artefacts/rewards to be handed out, these 'rewards' would have to be manually purchased by the achiever of the quest(s) (and explained to fit into the powers and proficiency rules) to acquire.

Back to the topic (feedback): I think these are cool ideas. I'll try to check up on this thread when you provide more ideas/info on them. Sorry, I don't have any ideas floating in my head right now to give for input Sad

Re: Bejeweled Blade Gem Quests (WIP) (Help and Feedback Need - Koren - 12-06-2015

These are not Artefacts, and they do not have any purpose other than role-play fodder, and unlocking abilities on this character (by being purchased) but thanks for your concern.

I'd appreciate any and all help and feedback I can get.

Re: Bejeweled Blade Gem Quests (WIP) (Help and Feedback Need - Joseph Joestar - 12-06-2015

I have an idea considering your questions with the Citrene of Electricity: that giant robot is actually 'activated' by that gem falling into Tier 7, and it is protecting the gem because of it being its power source. The player could learn of this by hearing of a giant reactivated machine terrorizing an area in Tier 7, and by following the ensuing earthquakes that occur in the lower tiers from its rampages.

That'll work

I'll update the Original Post later....

Re: Bejeweled Blade Gem Quests (WIP) (Help and Feedback Need - Lubbock - 12-06-2015

Or MAYBE the gem could be INSIDE the robot?

Re: Bejeweled Blade Gem Quests (WIP) (Help and Feedback Need - Koren - 12-07-2015

Lubbock Wrote:Or MAYBE the gem could be INSIDE the robot?

I think that's what he meant by the power source.

I think I'll use the Deus Ex summon from Bravely Default as the robot Tongue (Now I just gotta submit a form and get it approved)

I'm updating the OP right now!

Re: Bejeweled Blade Gem Quests (WIP) (Help and Feedback Need - Koren - 12-07-2015

All of the quest outlines are up! Now I just need help developing the three quarters of them that are not finished.

Re: Bejeweled Blade Gem Quests (WIP) (Help and Feedback Need - Ada Wong - 12-08-2015

Sign me on for the Underverse quest. ;D Also, would it be possible to pilfer the gem off of Diablo or is it that the Big Man Downstairs absolutely must be convinced to hand it over? Just asking, it wouldn't be a big deal to me if the quest were locked in stone like that. Just gotta know in case I get a totally preposterous idea and go through with it and it doesn't meet the standards set up.

(Once everything's complete and "quests" are open, yeah?)

Re: Bejeweled Blade Gem Quests (WIP) (Help and Feedback Need - King Axorn - 12-08-2015

For those who missed it, you cannot start any of the quests until all of them are finished. It would be good to hear your feedback and suggestions.

Re: Bejeweled Blade Gem Quests (WIP) (Help and Feedback Need - Amaterasu - 12-08-2015

Hmm, for the Agate of Technology... what about a search quest where you must play through multiple retro games, some of which are bugged or infested with rogue code and viruses, always recieving further hints towards the gem's location?

For instance:
Pac-Man. You take the role of Pac, collecting bits and pieces of code, items or what have you while being chased by a number of dangerous viruses. These viruses are too deeply ingrained into the game coding for you to just kill them, so you have to run. Imagine running through a dark and gloomy labyrinth, collecting stuff and never certain when the ghosts may come around the corner.
The bits of code or items form into a hint, pointing you towards the next game.

Pong. You are confronted by an armored knight who wears nearly invincible armor that is also enchanted to raise his magic powers. He creates magic darkballs which immediately kill you if they touch you, but you have found a shield of light that allows you to reflect those darkballs at him. Problem is, he has a shield too. You have to direct the ball at him and strip him of his armor before he can kill you. If you do so, he becomes unable to fight and reveals his knowledge so you spare him.

Age of Empires. You find yourself in a peaceful medieval environment with a group of stranded antivirus systems who have attempted to fight an enormously powerful virus overlord and his minions, but were defeated. You must help them by rebuilding their subsystems and allowing them to replicate themselves to create an army, to take the virus overlord on before he finds you and wipes you out. After their victory they open a path for you which was blocked before, that the virus overlord was trying to get through to, allowing you to proceed to the next game.

Mario Land. In a new land you are only able to move sideways, you must fight your way past the minions and traps of a rogue code that was scrapped from a modern D&D game campaign and takes the form of a dragon. After defeating the dragon itself you encounter the princess that it has held captive, to force her to reveal the hiding place of the "Royal Gem", which has given the princess's kingdom peace and prosperity (which is to say, flawless, virusless and very advanced code). Because they already are at tech levels far beyond the Dataverse limits anyway, she lets you have the gem, which turns out to be the Agate of Technology.

Very long quest, I know...

Re: Bejeweled Blade Gem Quests (WIP) (Help and Feedback Need - Koren - 12-11-2015

Quest descriptions finished: 8/14

Almost there!

I plan on getting these done over the weekend.

Re: Bejeweled Blade Gem Quests (WIP) (Help and Feedback Need - Koren - 12-17-2015

10/14 complete!

Then I just gotta get my NPCs approved Tongue

Re: Bejeweled Blade Gem Quests (WIP) (Help and Feedback Need - Simon - 12-18-2015

A couple more ideas-

Moonstone of Mind: Perhaps the gem has come into the hands of one of the local vampire lords serving under Dracula, and you must barge into their castle and defeat them for it?

Ruby of Fire: Journey into the veins of a recently re-activated volcano, and overcome the trials and traps within to find the gem! Beware, it seems as if the rocks and magma around you are alive, and conspiring to consume any intruder...

These are great, particularly the Moonstone of Mind since I had absolutely no ideas for that one.

Re: Bejeweled Blade Gem Quests (WIP) (Help and Feedback Need - Koren - 01-13-2016

12/14 quests complete! thanks to those that have contributed thus far in order to help me get this character on the road.

Re: Bejeweled Blade Gem Quests (WIP) (Help and Feedback Need - Koren - 01-25-2016

JUST ONE MORE! Absolutely no idea what to do for it though.... :wat:

Compared to the others, where I had a general idea of where I wanted to go, I have a complete blank for this one.

Re: Bejeweled Blade Gem Quests (WIP) (Help and Feedback Need - Amaterasu - 01-26-2016

That's the Opal of Spirit, right?
You could perhaps do something where the current sword wielder must fight a nightmare of theirs, some Astral Plane being which functions like the Boggart in Harry Potter (it senses what you are most afraid of and turns into that thing, to make you afraid while it attacks you)?
It could be a particularly powerful NPC which has swallowed the Opal of Spirit which is why it can read other people's fears, and possibly even more than that. The quest could consist in tracking that beast down and fighting it, possibly chasing it as it escapes to lick its wounds after a fight until you can finally bring it down. Help from an NPC such as Princess Luna could also be an idea.
