Need help determining this character's power cost - Felix - 12-03-2015

So I am mostly done reading through the rules and information stuff on this site, but I'm confused considering my character unique power which is controllable good luck and bad luck. I wasn't sure what to categorize this as, since its more of a roll of a dice from I guess whoever he'd be fighting, probably using this http://www.roll-dice-online.com/ and rolling a 20 sided die once. The way I planned on describing it would bee this.

"Felix's luck can affect him when he uses it against someone else, via roll of a 20 sided die by the person he's fighting. For example, if Felix attacks someone using his bad luck, the die must be rolled. If it lands on 1~6 to 8~10, Felix suffers bad luck for some time. If it lands on 11~12 or 14~20, Felix gains good luck for some time.

HOWEVER, if the die lands on 7 or 13, Felix suffers good luck or bad luck respectively, regardless if they're in the areas for the opposite amount of luck.

Felix's luck is both a gift and a curse, its strong in its attack and strong in its negative effects. Thus making it a gamble everytime its used."

So, I didn't see anything like this in the powers section, so I wasn't sure what its cost would be for purchasing it. It'd probably also have a usage limit during a fight, like one or twice. Can an admin/mod determine how much OM I'd pay for this?

Hello! Welcome to the Omniverse!

So, as for your question...this sort of thing is a bit iffy. You COULD make this work with a series of powers and moves if you'd like, though there'd be some caveats. The largest caveat is that you'd need a move for each thing you'd want to accomplish with Good Luck/Bad Luck. The dice-roll could then be something you'd use out of character to determine which moves are used when if you'd like, though I'm not 100% sure that would fly as it's a bit meta.

In terms on inflicting bad luck on an opponent you could have a move that utilizes Debuff Profifiency but you'd need to explicitly state how you'd want it to work as just saying 'bad luck' is too broad and could encompass many effects. Maybe you'd want to lower their TEC by a bit for a duration to make them more apt to miss, etc. Something like that would be fine. Or maybe you could have it lower their speed by making them more clumsy. As for debuffing yourself, I don't think you'd need to buy anything. Just RP him tripping or something.

As for Good Luck, you could surely make a buff move that boosts TEC (I'm just assuming that's what you're implying with luck) but it would ONLY work on other players. We don't allow self-buffs unless you wanted to make it a transformation/power-up and spend SP to boost your stats. If you wanted to just start your character with 5 TEC or something and RP it as him being very lucky with his attacks, that'd be cool though. You could also considering having an alternate form that maybe has a larger stress on the TEC stat.

So short answer, it'd depend on what you exactly mean by luck. Various effects would require additional proficiencies/powers but I'd say you would definitely need Buff and Debuff to just inflict clumsiness or aptitude on others. I'd personally just play a high TEC character with Buff and Debuff profiencies and work on a few moves that revolve around 'luck'. Like a punch that incapacitates by hitting JUST the right spot or a dodge that is timed perfectly. Definitely doable and a fun concept. I hope that answers your question!

Don't forget that actually Boosting stats, as in a stat goes from 3 to 4, would require the use of SP. You can't actually increase stats through a buff without using SP.

Yeah, note that as well. I blame my forgetting to add that on writing this at 2 AM. >.>
