Assists and SP - Retane - 11-18-2015

OK... I have a question about SP

My initial question asked if I Summon, say Arith, how does Arith wind up vanishing? Do I have to Kill him off, or is my opponent forced to kill him off or what?

I have the Mark and Sigil of Lythia as an Assist... I can Summon certain NPC's to help me... Right now it Is Arith and Inirtias...

I'm fighting Jack Frost... I am about to summon Arith... That's 1 SP per post...  I'm being told that I have to Spend 1 SP Per post, even 1 SP when my  opponent posts....

How the hell does that make any sense at all?

I post and summon a character... spend so many words just summoning him and an SP,  but I have to pay an SP for my opponent to use him as well? Seems almost retarded? Yes or no?

No, it is not retarded.

If you spend 1 sp, the npc you summon as an assist will have the full power of their stats backing them, however, if you do not spend sp for your opponents round (Its the same with power ups, you have to spend sp to stay powered up in your opponent post) then the NPC you summoned as an assist becomes just a regular old npc without stats. They don't have to vanish or even remove themselves from the fight, but their hits are no longer backed by the stats and can easily be disposed of.

Re: Assists and SP - Strazio Rockwell - 11-18-2015

The assist is dismissed in whatever way makes sense for your character, the important thing is that they do not linger in the fight beyond the rounds in which they are active. So for my assist I have it fade away because I no longer have the energy to sustain it. Or for one of my NPCs I have her soldiers disappear because they are teleported back to home base. You could have the assist simply become too tired/injured to actually fight. The important thing is that they no longer impact the fight once they are no longer being paid for in SP.

The reason you pay for them on the opponents turn is the same reason you pay for a power-up on your opponents turn. They don't lose potency simply because your opponent writes them, anymore than your power-up losing power. In fact it could hurt your opponent if they write them poorly or play them off as a non-issue.

Does that make sense?
