Thought Experiment - Hypothetical One Piece Movie - Guu - 11-16-2015 This is directed towards people who know the early sagas of One Piece. Say Hollywood made a One Piece live action movie, like the studio miraculously hired a director who gave a shit about the source material and gave him/her pretty much free reign to make a movie that was pretty accurate. Let's say, because this is a movie, we have to get Luffy, Zoro, Nami, and Usopp together in the same movie, and the film had to end with them leaving the East Blue. With so little time to work with, you could only fit in one villain to be the main antagonist. Which East Blue villain would you go with? If you guys need a refresher, the available villains are: Alvida Captain Morgan Buggy Kuro Don Krieg Arlong I think either Buggy or Arlong are the smarter choices. Buggy would probably look better in live action, but the Arlong Park had a more gut wrenching story. What do you guys think? Also, how would you get the crew together in the shortest amount of time possible? I'd say you'd have to get all four of those character together before the end of Act 1, but it would be better to have them around by the 10 minute mark. How would you do it? Re: Thought Experiment - Hypothetical One Piece Movie - Roger Smith - 11-16-2015 Sanji would also need to be incorporated into it somehow. As far as the major antagonist goes, I agree the most impactful would be Arlong, quite easily. But then again, Buggy does show up more than once and he's technically the last 'villain' the group encounters before leaving for the Grand Line, teamed up with Alvida. Unless you count Smoker, that is. On the thought of how to go about getting the crew together, I can honestly say I have no idea on that one. It'll require a little more thought. Re: Thought Experiment - Hypothetical One Piece Movie - Belle - 11-19-2015 Arlong is the one with the most complete story that you could do. Buggy is too nothing and most of the others there even more so. Re: Thought Experiment - Hypothetical One Piece Movie - Victor Wolfe - 11-19-2015 I actually liked both Kuro and the Kreig arcs better than the arlong park arc. It was interesting to see how Kuro was actually one of the best liars in the show being able to fool the entire island for years, and the Kreig arc had Sanji who at the start of the show was really cool, also it has the first appearance of Mihawk who is pure awesomeness. Arlong I feel might look pretty bad in live action and as one piece arcs go I feel its a bit more depressing than the normally fun tone of one piece (the other arcs do have darker moments but also have more comedy). |
