Planning for a base. - Harry Dresden - 02-10-2014 Is there an upper limit on the size of a base? Harry was a founder of something called the Paranet back home, a group of practitioners of magic that couldn't make full wizard. The principle behind it was strength in numbers, and in the Omniverse, I was thinking he'd be able to take it a step further, providing a place of refuge for a large number of people once he got enough Omnilium to have a base. My first idea is to use the White Council base at Edinburgh. The base wouldn't be Edinburgh Castle itself, but rather the network of tunnels underneath it, perhaps carved out of a preexisting cave system, or underneath an empty castle in Camelot. This leads to my second question; could bases have "public" areas? Places where access is assumed to be granted unless banned, divided from places that need access approval or force of arms to enter? Re: Planning for a base. - Omni - 02-10-2014 No hard limit, no, though I'd step in if a base was literally verse-spanning. Those ideas all sound fine (and sound like they'd make for fun writing). Re: Planning for a base. - Harry Dresden - 02-10-2014 Alright, so, plan A is to have 3 stages; the public dining and sleep areas, the restricted of the same, and Harry's lab/vault. The general idea is that Stage 1 is open to anyone Harry doesn't explicity ban, stage 2 is open to anyone who he designates, and the vault area encompasses his lab as well. Would I need to buy a second vault to designate stage 2 as having tighter security? Or would I be able to control the area outside the base proper to make it habitable? I'm trying to figure out how much OM I need to save up. Re: Planning for a base. - Omni - 02-10-2014 That sounds fine, you wouldn't need to buy any extra. |
