Taking Nanowrimo by Storm - Gildarts - 10-29-2015 Structure helps a good story, and strategy helps too. Place here just little tips you think might help others who wish to complete the challenge, 50,000 words is a big chunk! How would you do it? In segments? Wing it? Or perhaps a blend of both? Novels have chapters that help the story grow with each one read. My tip to the Nanowrimo challengers is probably: Stay with it even if you miss a day. If you have a good idea of what you want, write it down and plan to edit it later. Don't fixate on every word you write, sentences with a second glance can seem different later on. Lastly, collaborate with a close friend on a part that you may not feel strongly about. I know its a more individual task, however, I plan to have Strazio take a look at mine if I need a little help with pacing the story. thanks in advance straz <3 THATSMORETHANONETIP Oops. ![]() EDIT: also, I "hired" JG to speak on the subject. <link courtesy of DL> <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PCTO91aBFXk">https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PCTO91aBFXk</a><!-- m --> Re: Taking Nanowrimo by Storm - Strazio Rockwell - 10-29-2015 Don't worry Gild, I gotchu. And yeah, I would say having a buddy to help push you through if you hit a rough patch would be a big thing. Also I recommend going as hard as possible for the first week, if you hit over the required word per day that's great because then for the rest of the month your workload is lessened by that much. Also SAVE EDITING FOR AFTER YOU'RE DONE it doesn't matter if what you write is pure garbage, don't fix it until you are done or you'll get caught in an editing trap. The goal is to get words on the page not to make sure you get the right words on the page, that can be done when you crank out your 50k words. Right now we just need forward progression, the polishing can be done afterwards. |
