Colosseum Tournament - Proto Man - 10-12-2015 Bracket: http://challonge.com/CamelotColosseum Betting: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=4163 The Tournament takes place at the Camelot Colosseum, a massive Ancient-world stadium not unlike the Roman Colosseum at its zenith, albeit with some more ‘modern’ amenities, like places selling Camelot cuisine and trinkets not unlike the souvenirs you would find at a baseball park or football stadium. Given the scale of the Colosseum, eight matches will take place simultaneously. The floor/arena portion of the Colosseum is 300 feet long by 200 feet wide. So each fight zone for this and round two will be about 40 feet wide and 200 feet across. During the entire duration of the tournament, the audience will be protected by an invisible magic shield. This same shield is used to divide up the interior of the Colosseum into eight portions to prevent fights from spilling out or interrupting anyone. This barrier has a ceiling at twenty feet. Round 1 fights occur on an uneven dirt floor. Medieval weaponry, both melee and ranged, is available at both ends of each fighting area. Each fight area has various 3-foot by 5-foot stone barricades. A large jagged trench seven feet wide and eight feet deep zig-zags through the center of each fight area. The arena has been designed to emulate the minor historical battle fought eight years ago in southern Camelot, where an organized army of deserters attempted to march on Minas Tirith. The battle took place along a jagged fault line. One participant will play the role of Kingdom soldier while the other will play the role of a deserter. Make your own history. There is a wait of thirty minutes between the first eight fights and the second eight fights (although for our OOC posts, all fights will happen simultaneously). Between rounds, there is a wait of two hours, allowing primes to either heal themselves or seek out medical attention. SP does not regenerate unless a Consumable item is used. OOC Stuff Purchases - Moves and other stuff may be purchased between fights. If you buy something during a fight, you may not use it during that fight. The following are the rules for the first round of the tournament: Judges: Gildarts/Caira and Thaal/BWNN Alt Judge: Trixie Backup Judges (More may be added): Dark Link, Proto Man/Shang Tsung Word Limit: 750 Posts: 3 Time Limit: 48 hours SP use in enabled. SP does not regenerate between rounds. Injuries may occur. Neither injuries or SP use are factored into judgment, only the quality of writing. Note: There are no extensions for people who cannot make the posting deadline. If you miss a post, that will be factored into your score. Judge Template Quote:"Description and Clarity: Re: Colosseum Tournament - Ms. Marvel - 10-12-2015 We can't bet on individual match ups? Just 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place? Awww man, please?! xD Re: Colosseum Tournament - Proto Man - 10-12-2015 You can bet on individual matches for fun, but it'd be far too much of a headache to do bets on every thing short of final top placements. You are free to take the bracket - http://challonge.com/CamelotColosseum - and then use paint to put in who you think will win and then post that up if you want to do it March Madness-style. As an Angel, I would totally volunteer to be a bookie for individual fights, that way we could bet actual OM. Unless you are against the idea for some other reason other than the responsibilities for it. I'd totally handle it for ya, tho! Edit: We could make it all done IC as well, with the story teller playing a bookie, that way if you wanted to bet, you'd have to create a post and do it IC. Another Edit: If we did so, we'd just make another thread with the story teller as the bookie and we could move BWNN's last post over to that thread. He's already got it down. (It'd be better if it was all in its own thread instead of in the regular thread. Re: Colosseum Tournament - Proto Man - 10-12-2015 Edited into OP: Round 1 fights occur on an uneven dirt floor. Re: Colosseum Tournament - Proto Man - 10-12-2015 All Round 1 fights are posted. Group A and Group B fights are taking place simultaneously IC. I added the dimensions of the arena floor to help provide everyone with the best idea of the space they are fighting in. As you can tell, the zones are very wide (the primes start on opposing ends) Re: Colosseum Tournament - Black Mage - 10-12-2015 Hey guys, wanted to say good luck to everybody out there, and I'm hoping for some great and interesting fights from everybody(especially you Ms. Dawnika Snow). May the best writer win. Re: Colosseum Tournament - Red - 10-12-2015 Wait, this isn't a Blitzball tournament? Re: Colosseum Tournament - Kakashi Hatake - 10-12-2015 I think I already know the answer to this, but just so I'm sure: the word limit is per post, right? Re: Colosseum Tournament - Proto Man - 10-12-2015 Yes. Per post Re: Colosseum Tournament - Proto Man - 10-12-2015 I've added the scoring card/template that all judges will be using throughout this tournament. Re: Colosseum Tournament - Magus - 10-12-2015 What word count tool will you be using? MSword says I have 746 words currently, and online tools say I have anywhere from 747 - 767 words. I'd like not to be docked because your tool has a different count from mine. Re: Colosseum Tournament - Proto Man - 10-12-2015 Interesting. Is that due to hyphenated words? Re: Colosseum Tournament - Magus - 10-12-2015 I geniunely have no idea, but I don't think so. I only used two hyphenated words in this piece. Re: Colosseum Tournament - Proto Man - 10-12-2015 What's it say on - https://wordcounter.net/ Re: Colosseum Tournament - Ururu Kyuuei - 10-12-2015 The magical barrier around the fighting zone, is it semi-solid or is it unbreakably solid. I ask this because will sharp weapons cling to it as if they've penetrated it or will any and all weapons just simply bounce off of it and find no purchase? And can things like wall walking techniques allow Ururu to cling to it or will it repel people as well. It's only purpose is to keep moves and stuff from entering or exiting the arena and can't really be used for anything else. The terrain inside the barrier is the stuff you can traverse, but the actual shield around the field isn't something you can climb on/use for much else. So if I for instance shot an energy beam at it will the shield deflect the beam or will the beam simply dissipate? |
