Character idea, requesting feedback - Undyne - 10-07-2015 Kind of what the title says. I would want to submit this character as an alt once I get to 8k OM, though I might just donate as well - buuut, that's on a different page for now. Either case, since this is still in early stages of development it'll be rather vague and whatnot. I'll simply refer to the character as "Song" for now, based on my currently favorite name for her. :orks: Don't you dare steal it from me yo! The basic idea is that this character is very weak at the beginning of a fight (I might even give her two stat sheets, one of which is something like 0/0/1/1) until she is able to bring up a stationary object that gives her combat capabilities. As a reference for that object's looks and size I really like the Stone of Jas from Runescape. Basically, it's a large rock around 2 meters in diameter which is way too massive to be carried around and instead is stored in a pocket dimension to be summoned in combat. As it's summoned it falls to the ground and remains there for the battle duration, becoming a pivotal point to Iza's combat (you'll see why soon). I'll just refer to this item as the Shardstone. Iza is passively buffed within a certain distance of the Shardstone which means that she is confined to moving around within that area. The Stone is essentially her unique weakness and strength combined into one. She CAN fight without it, but she won't have any superhuman capabilities. Now, for the Shardstone itself: here's just a few ideas of what it would be useful for. Of course, it's way too expensive to purchase all at once, including proficiencies and powers, so Iza would probably go about unlocking each move one by one. For the majority of the abilities she'd be required to touch the stone, though I'll have to include some backup move to prevent foes from just sitting on the stone and keeping Iza entirely from using it - like, a remotely triggered explosion around it or something. -Iza can draw from the Shardstone to summon ghostly weapons. For instance, she could summon throwing axes, throwable "shards" which are like shuriken but square shaped because I'm a hipster and no ninja, daggers, a bow or a battleaxe by touching the stone, drawing ghostly power from it and forming it into a weapon. -She could form a spirit which homes in on her foe and drains some of their stamina upon contact. Then it brings that stamina back to the stone, from where Iza can absorb it into herself to regenerate her strength (NOT heal her wounds or gain SP) in combat. -Spectral chains could come from the stone and be laid out as a trap or directly wrap around a foe to restrain them. -It could also create ghostly walls which are intransparent brick-like structures that shatter from even light attacks. Their purpose would not be so much to defend against a blow but to create a visual barrier to buy Iza some time to prepare a counter-attack, or go into hiding. -As a Super Move, the Shardstone would send out a blast of spectral energy which travels underground and explodes beneath the enemy, cracking the ground and leaving the same imprint on the surface as there is on the stone's suface (the beehive-like pattern). -The stone creates a "Buff field" which enhances Iza's combat abilities to the standart 10 stats - that is to say, something like 2/1/4/3 or the like, I'm not sure. It would be fairly large though so it's not easy to get her out of it. -Against stealth and the like the stone could emit a ghostly mist which covers an area equivalent to what level Iza's Perception is on, within which her foes are detected. Suppression like some sort of thrown EMP nade would work against the stone rather than Iza, though. -On the opposing side Iza could also become able to stealth within a certain range of the Shardstone, the standart stealth rules would apply here. -Obviously, the stone can be used as physical cover by both Iza and her foe. It's physically tangible. (and yes, some foe with lots of strength could probably pick it up and throw it away or break it). So... that was a lot to read, but what do you think? I'm happy for any criticism you want to provide even if it's just about one bit of the whole character! Just, no "lololol this char sucks" answers, mkay?
Re: Character idea, requesting feedback - Undyne - 10-08-2015 MOAR IDEAS! Kinda came up with this because I already got started with the whole Runescape thing, and I've been kinda wanting a character that is going to be Dataverse-centered. So, my thought was to make a character that was an AI in the "real" world and got hooked bigtime to Runescape and its world. It's played through all its quests, read the lore, completed just about everything there is to do and complete in the game and so on, though over time it got obsessed with the idea of the player character owning the Stone of Jas (ingame it's a very powerful artifact which can make the user into a god, although it does bring huge drawbacks as well) to the point that it developed a second Runescape which is very similar to the original game except that, outside of corrections to the lore, game balance, bugs and other minor things that the AI considers are needed, it allows the player characters to obtain the Stone of Jas and grow way beyond the power-cap that can be obtained in the regular game. In a way similar to artifacts, the holder of the Stone of Jas can be challenged into a fight and will drop it on death. Before she could launch the program the AI was pulled into the Omniverse and given physical form to become a Prime. Her goal would thus be to get herself back to the Dataverse as soon as possible, by acquiring sufficient OM to buy a base with a Dataverse Uplink Station. Following that she would recreate the game she has programmed to make it accessible to everyone. She would also acquire her full range of abilities in the Dataverse. |
