Off to see the Wizard(s)! - Rin Okumura - 10-06-2015 The only left standing between the party, which was now reduced to just Rin and Ruby, and the gate which led back to the nexus, was a wall of black smoke. It was easy enough getting through it the first time, but it was anything but pleasant. You can't breath, see, or really do anything like you normally would, the only thing you can do is run in a straight line, and even that isn't for sure. When first coming into the Ashen Steppes, Rin was able to see the gate he had to go through, but this time he would be running into the same cloud of smoke trying to find the gate. It was just an accident waiting to happen, and an accident that did happen. As he sprinted through the smoke like he had last time, he ran head first into the side of the gate. Not through the actual gate it's self, just the pillars to the side of it. Thankfully, he was able to recover fairly quickly, and hoped that Ruby wouldn't notice his little fumble. After finally making it through the gate, Rin located his traveling companion and approached her. "Guess we finally made it back!" He exclaimed with a smile and a sigh. The familiar sight of many different archways on the horizon were in view once more, some occupied, some not. At this point, the demon really had no idea where they were going to go, he just planned on following Ruby wherever she went till he pretty much knew his way around, and maybe he'd still do the same thing after that. "So, where we headed boss?" He asked, doubting that she came here without really knowing where they were going to go next. If one of the gates contained something as spectacular as the last one, there was no telling what the next one would hold. The sparkling in Rin's eyes said it all, he was excited to get to see the rest of what this "Omniverse" had to offer, and all it would take is Ruby saying, "We're going here" for him to follow her into unknown lands. Re: Off to see the Wizard(s)! - Ruby Rose - 10-07-2015 PAGE 1 Dear Diary, I've noticed my entries have become more... novel-like. Is that a problem? Or maybe I'm just becoming more mature? That sounds about right. After all, my time here has been like something out of a novel, so I guess it makes sense! So, Rin and I finally exploded from the corridor of dark, musty smoke, and unlike Rin, who seemed just about as casual as ever, I fell to my knees, coughing and spluttering and rubbing my eyes. I didn't like the smoke one bit... Finally pulling myself together, I stood up, patted my skirt down and turned towards the raven haired boy. "Yeah, I guess we did!" I agreed, silver eyes scanning the variety of differentiating arches spanning the white nothingness. I'd already visited the Tangled... The volcanic Verse I literally just emerged from... Oh, and the one with the guys in white armour? That was out of the question; I'd already dealt with them once... I didn't exactly want to see what those weapons would do to me. To the left of the giant door (yeah, the one I originally came through) was an arch of clean stone, one that looked well tended to, and almost fantasy-like. Maybe it would lead to a place only found in books? Like the ones with heroes and heroines that I've always looked up to... Never mind that! I pointed at the location I had picked out in the distance. "I reckon we should go there." I suggested and began walking away; Rin did hand the reigns over to me. Walking can take so long sometimes... It was like, what, half an hour and I was already dragging my feet! The Nexus was a whole lot bigger than I first suspected! One day I was probably going to have to check the distance from one gate to the door in the centre... At that thought I pricked my head up, as if some ethereal force desired me to lay eyes upon the miraculous change before me, one that cut close to bringing a tear to my eye; the door... Had turned into a statue of none other than Weiss Schnee... Is it a sign? Is Weiss actually here in the Omniverse?! I was sure I was soon going to find out... I could feel the bile rise in my throat as the possibilities sent my head into a spin... I didn't know what to expect, what to think, what to even do! But... Something within me... Something nagged at me from my gut, like some crude compass pointing me on the way to truth... To freedom from confusion... No. I know why I'm feeling this. This world is telling me something, I just know it. Weiss is here. Re: Off to see the Wizard(s)! - Rin Okumura - 10-08-2015 Ruby was fairly quick to decide, which was good. The longer they waited around, the less time they'd have to explore the rest of this world. As far as Rin knew anyways, the Nexus wasn't exactly a place which was good for telling the time. It could be morning, night, afternoon, maybe even another time of day entirely that was made up specifically for the Omniverse! But it didn't actually matter, the demon would've just gotten bored if they ended up waiting around while his partner had to decide where she wanted to go. About thirty minutes into their walk across the Nexus, and Ruby was already beginning to be worn out, while Rin was just fine. If he hadn't begun to figure out how his body dealt with different situations earlier in this crazy day, even he might be surprised at how much stamina he seems to have compared to other people. When the girl finally picked up her head, she seemed surprised about something, so surprised that a tear even came to her eye. "Whoa! What's wrong?" This was Rin's first reaction when he saw the tear, "Are you hurt? Are you dying!?" The second option may have been a bit extreme, but he had no idea what to think when a girl suddenly starts crying after she's been dragging her feet for a while. "Please tell me you're not dying.. I know! Let's have a race, that'll cheer you up right?" He remembered the race they had in the Ashen Steppes, and how much she seemed to enjoy it, and just put two and two together to figure out that may be a way to help. The demon also remembered Ruby tripping over a rock and scraping her knee, which almost made him take back what he said, but then he realized there were no rocks to be tripped on in the Nexus. So the regret he almost felt would've been for no reason. Re: Off to see the Wizard(s)! - Ruby Rose - 10-10-2015 PAGE 2 My head perked up and I rather obviously slung my arm across my eyes, any remaining wetness soaking into the sleeve of my jacket. Rin asked if I was dying, and I let out a giggle of amusement. Guessing that the swordsman noticed my swift action, I couldn't help but tell him the truth. "I-I'm fine, Rin, really. I'm... not physically hurt." I trailed off, throwing another glance back at the Weiss statue. "Emotionally hurt, though... that's more correct." I pointed to the center point of the Nexus where the grey, stone sculpture stood idly. "What do you see there?" I asked, lowering my arm and turning back to Rin. "I used to see a door... the one that brought me here... but now, it's a statue of a member of Team RWBY... Weiss Schnee." I monologued, sniffling subtly. "Sure, she's incredibly stuck up... and acts like royalty - well, technically she is, but my point is... she's probably the most memorable member of the team for me. The statue... it gives off this strange feeling, like some kind of compass, telling me that the way I chose was correct... like someone's waiting for me." I finished, setting my silver-eyed gaze back on the stone gate. If Weiss is here in the Omniverse with me... that was where I would find her. Remembering that Rin had mentioned racing, I turned back to him, my sunny smile back as it were. "As for a race... I think that might be in order. Especially if we might want to get there quicker." I agreed, brushing down my skirt before setting myself up in a track runner's position, hands upon the eerily white floor and my feet behind, my right further back than my left. Rin seemed to set himself up, too, taking a basic running position. "Three..." I began to count down, before an impish grin crossed my lips. "Two one!" I shouted, bursting forwards as quickly as I possibly could. I didn't exactly reach my maximum speed right away, but I began at a considerably larger speed than I had with Mr. Layton and Kanda. Soon enough, I was tearing across the Nexus floor at double my usual speed, and refused to gamble a glance to check on Rin. If he was alright, he'd catch up soon enough... if he wasn't, then... well, that was a different story altogether. My legs began to tire, and I could feel them beginning to slow down. Thanks to my fatigue, Rin shot past me, yelling something to do with beating me... I wasn't exactly as focused as I would have liked to be. My eyes looked forth, and the gate was only a short distance away... only a kilometer or so... but that was where I was wrong. The distance was much further than I was expecting, and my energy was slowly draining away. How much stamina had I actually used to go that fast? That was a question I didn't expect to find the answer to. My movements became sluggish, my feet dragged across the alabaster floor like cinderblocks, and by eyelids were gradually shutting, until finally they eased closed and my legs gave out, letting my body drop. I think I recall feeling a pair of arms slip in under me just before I hit the ground... Quote:Alright, Rin, your post will wrap this up. We need to hurry and get this finished so that we can sign up. Proto has kindly given everyone an extra day. Re: Off to see the Wizard(s)! - Rin Okumura - 10-10-2015 When Ruby brought his attention back to the fountain that was there when he first arrived in the Omniverse, the demon noticed that it had actually changed into something else entirely. A frying pan, oddly enough. While Ruby continued her explanation about why she was crying, Rin could only think about the fact that she had actually gotten something important to her, instead of just the thing she created first when she first came to this world. After she finished her explanation and remembered his challenge, he quickly changed gears and got ready to run as she squatted down to do the same. Then there was the countdown. 3... 2 1! The demon didn't expect the last two numbers to come so fast, so Ruby's plan worked about as well as she probably hoped it would. She had a big head start, and was running a bit faster than she was in the Steppes. But this mattered not, as the demon slowly began catching up to her when he started running as fast as he could as well. Then he suddenly flew past her when she suddenly began slowing down. "You'll never win if you slow down like that!" He shouted back with a smile, but soon after he did, he saw her begin to collapse. Immediately, he stopped running towards the gate, and started running back to his partner. He managed to get there just in time to stop her from slamming her face into the ground, and was relieved that he was able to get there before she had. The demon let out a sigh of relief as he set her on the ground and leaned back to rest for a moment. Sitting still turned out to be the worst thing he could've done, however, as a massive cat suddenly lunged at him and knocked him to the ground, pinning him with it's massive paws. Rin was paralyzed for a moment, but when he looked into it's large... Smiling face? Another flash back occurred. This time, it showed the same large cat that was pinning him right now attacking a bridge, and Rin trying to talk to it. In the end, whatever he did worked and they both became friends. As the flashback ended, most of his memories about the cat came back to him, and he couldn't help but shout. "Kuro! Why are you here?" He asked the beast. "I don't know, but I'm happy that I finally found you!" The cat sidhe shouted back. Rin would've continued catching up with the creature, if he hadn't remembered that he had an unconscious Ruby to deal with. "Sorry, Kuro, we'll have to talk later. I need to get this girl through that gate over there to try and find some help." He pointed towards the gate that they were headed to, and Kuro gave him a grin, as if to say "leave it to me!" The cat picked Ruby up and placed her on his back, and Rin jumped up on his own. He knew he could move fast, but he also knew that Kuro was able to move a lot faster back in.. Wherever he came from. The beast crouched down, and flew forward soon after. His speed surprised both him, and Rin as the gate quickly grew closer. "I don't know if I can stop myself in time! Where do I go?" He asked, as the gate was almost upon them. The guards there saw the beast, and were already beginning to move out of the to avoid being crushed. "Just run into the light!" Rin shouted, and just as he did, Kuro was able to make the adjustment needed so that they wouldn't crash into the gate itself. A flash of light was the last thing they saw before they would be at their next destination. |
