Mechanical Engineering Fodder and OM - Broly - 10-01-2015 My new character is from the Gundam Wing Universe. In my backstory she acquired the original OZ-00 Tallgeese from Zechs in the divorce. She perfected piloting it and maintaining. I'm also going to have her capable of maintaining the suit by herself as long as he had a hangar. Now that she's in Omniverse is it okay to say, for purely fodder, that she is a Omnilium Mechanical Engineer? What I mean by that is I'm going to have her capable of upgrading, repairing, and fixing just about anything to do with the newly designed OM version of Tallgeese. I want her to have a hangar/workshop (base eventually) where she can rip apart things and tinker with the fabric of Omnilium to create and enhance things (with purchases where necessary). I am not talking about a boon of sudden magical knowledge of Omnilium and how it works. I'm merely saying is it okay if I transfer her intellect from her old verse into the new one in a different form? She won't know about Omnilium until she begins to work with it, but that natural ability to solve and create will be there to make it easier. TL;DR I'm trying to piggy back Tony Stark and the Iron Man suit into Lucrezia Noin and Tallgeese 1. Re: Mechanical Engineering Fodder and OM - Reece - 10-01-2015 First off, I'm not a mod, so I have no actual authority. Keep that in mind. Secondly, I don't think there really is anything about OM that an engineer could possibly hope to uncover. It is the essence of Omniman. In other words; pure, divine power. Magic only usable by mere mortals because the Smiling One wills it to be so. So yeah, at the very least you'd probably need some understanding of magic in order to have any chance at figuring out anything meaningful. Thirdly; you don't actually need to understand how it works in order to fix your suit, y'know? All Noin would need to do would be focus on the repairs she wanted to complete, wait a few minutes, and they're done, so yeah... she can already do this: Quote:What I mean by that is I'm going to have her capable of upgrading, repairing, and fixing just about anything to do with the newly designed OM version of Tallgeese. And finally; you're free to give your character any non-combat skills you want; engineering, computer hacking, a PhD in Biochemistry, mad breakdancing skillz... whatever. Just so long as it can't possibly be of any use in a fight, it's okay to add in as a part of their background, so you can at least still give her the ability to manually fix any issues with the suit, if you so desire... though given that it'd probably be quicker to just use OM, and more convenient too (since you can do that anywhere, without needing access to specific equipment), your skillset might not see much actual use. I hope that at least some of this was helpful to you.
Re: Mechanical Engineering Fodder and OM - Trixie - 10-01-2015 Yeah it makes sense now that I'm not utterly exhausted. Thanks. Re: Mechanical Engineering Fodder and OM - Omni - 10-02-2015 Hideaki pretty much covered it. Thanks. Re: Mechanical Engineering Fodder and OM - Trixie - 10-02-2015 Thanks guys. I figured as much, but I wasn't really sure being how I hadn't slept in 3 days. Now I'm good. Thanks again for the clarification. |
