New Ranks Feedback and Discussion/Applications - Omni - 09-28-2015
As you can see, I've made public the first rendition of the new staff ranking system. The intention is to distribute workload out more and leverage an excellent and active member base, rather than shoving all work onto the few people who feel confident to do things like approve moves and NPCs.
If you have any feedback, please touch it here. Obviously there are some things that have yet to be slotted into this system, like our current story guides.
This would also be the place to put yourself forward if you feel you would be particularly suited for any particular rank. Be sure to include what you think you would be best at, whether its Sprite, Cherub or Angel.
I'm happy to have quite a few members on these teams, that way nobody feels too pressured; with everyone doing a little bit of help around the site, we should all be happy. This will also free up the senior staff members (angels) to focus on more difficult things like move approvals.
This will be up for at least a week before I make any decisions, so no rush.

Since we're moving into this thread, I am just going to bring my candidacy here:
With Gilgamesh stepping down I would like to offer myself as a candidate.
I frequent the Omni a few times a day so my activity shouldn’t be an issue and I have Skype up all day as well, so am easily reached.
I don’t know the rules in and out, but I know them well enough that I don’t need many questions answered and I know where to find the answer when I do.
As for being fearless, I have always been one to voice my opinion, so I would have no problem addressing anything needing correction, while remembering to keep my bedside manner intact. I am in sales, so I have experience with people and keeping a good line of communication. Essentially, being a dick would lose me a sale, so, I consciously keep my dick in check. xD

Am I a perfect candidate? No. I have my faults as everyone does, but I have experience being staff in the past and generally want the best for the Omniverse. This should be obvious, as I have won two medals here for “Most Helpful”.

I like the idea going on there Greg. Even though I've been here for several months, it's interesting to see how this site has been evolving since it's beginning.

I'll be more than glad to help even though I'm not exactly perfect noting how I can be. If I have to start low, I'll be more than willing to do so and work my way up to the top. After all as the old saying goes, with great power comes great responsibility.
As for other means, I'm usually very active on here and Skype as well as other things as well as very good at management and multi-tasking (I had ran several blogs before) and generally be at my utmost maturity on here while trying to be friendly; I've overcame much but I still kept marching onwards even though things get hectic for me in my real life. I can sympathize with others and try to be their support as much as I could.
In terms of being creative and even criticized about my methods, I'm generally open-minded and accepting, even with my own flaws. So if you have something to say, don't be afraid to drop a line, I'll listen.

Cherubs are a step up from sprites, and can edit omnilium and posts. They can also approve member-made secondary NPCs. This is an additional trust and responsibility.

I am going to be honest, i would love to help out with the applications, move approval, Fortnightly gains and grade posts. I don't mind npcing, it comes with the job. As i've noticed these are the things that are the source for people getting annoyed ( not getting helped fast enough ), this is something i can be useful with, seeing as my online time is very high i can easily jump in.
The reason why i apply to either of these ranks, i have plenty of time to put in, highly motivated to help this community forward. Obviously i wont know everything there is about the Omniverse, but i am willing to learn everything about it, i know where the rules are and i know how to apply them.

My application is out there, if i can help out, great. If not, ill still be an active member of the community ^^

Though I haven't had as much time on the site as say, Thaal, I still think I have enough knowledge and experience with the site to deal with the duties of either of these "ranks". Particularly when it comes to things like advising new players, grading posts (though some may find my grammatical standards a bit strict) or helping people out with writing as characters or in locations they might not be familiar with.
As for meeting up to the standards on the old mod page, my schedule's pretty lax outside of midday and the early afternoon, I'll probably be on most days, you'll be able to contact me pretty quick through Skype or the site, and as for not being a jackass... I like to consider myself a pretty laid back person, but otherwise... it's debatable. :mrgreen:
All in all, I'd like to do my it for the site, and this seems the best way to do it. Hope you'll at least consider my app.

I sent a PM to you, Omni, a while ago detailing the specifics of why I thought I'd be a good help and why I wanted to offer my assistance. Nothing's really changed since then, aside from now having much more time available due to various sources of change in the home, but this is me resubmitting my desire to be of assistance.
In summary of what I had to say before: I do make every effort to be active, and if nothing else I hang around in the background at all hours of the day and night so long as I'm on the computer, I have Skype over at similarly ridiculous hours so I'm not that hard to get ahold of, and while I haven't memorized the rules I know them quite well and know where and how to check for specific details and things that slip my mind. And also yeah, I would like to think that I don't get scared off by needing to do things or worrying about being wrong about something, and that I'm not a complete jackass. I try to be as civil and calm as possible and know when to just step back if I do start to feel the jackass rising.
Aside from all that, I am very much willing to help out with anything, and if ya'll think I'd be better suited in another role, that'd be fine with me. Thanks for the consideration.

I think this is a great idea. It should help curtail the issue of promoting one person and then having them go inactive, for whatever reason.
I would normally apply for something like this, but I'm happy with the turnout here and don't see a need to put my hand up.

hmmm I'm loving the organization and what not. Knowing who's job (reletive term) to do what and when to do it is fairly useful. structuring intensifies
Since you already have my application Omni, I must note here I'd like to apply as a Sprite or Cherub. I've never been a mod before and the job is a little unfamiliar to me. Those like Thaal or Sasuke who have experience and the confidence needed I can see sitting pretty in the higher positions (a plus 1 vote to them if this voting thing is.. err.. a thing).
I must say im fairly active as far as activity is concerned, checking in usually once a day to get a post done, vote, and socialize in the c-box. I'm flexible and adaptive, usually able to pick up new things (such as moderating in this case) rather quickly.

I've always loved helping out no matter where I go or what I'm doing. After my few months on this site, I knew I wanted to be able to help out in someway or another. If I become a Sprite, not only am I able to take work off the other staff, I'm able to help new members get set up and help them out if they need direction.
Something else I want to add, I think that with this new system there should be a bonus for exceptional fight judging. This would give members incentive to judge fights fairly and without bias.
Even if neither of these ideas get accepted, I'm fine with just being another member of the community.

I would like to apply for a position.
I'm very frustrated with how slowly Move are reviewed and approved currently (There's a lot to do as a staffer so i hold no grudge against anyone), and would like to remedy this by offering myself up to be the main Move Approval person. That's really all I want to do and it would take the load off everyone else for the most part. By focusing on that part of the staffing job, i feel i can accomplish a more timely and smooth process by which players can get moves approved. (I don't know which staff rank has these permissions)
