A Boy and His Anomaly - Guu - 09-06-2015

Carn didn’t do much in Ambrosia after the fight with the orcs. He just kind of hung around the city. He got to try out the fish at the Fry & Sty which was at least one rank higher than that palace food. He also got to hang out with a trio of pig farmers who were oddly clean and tidy, Stereotypes be damned.

But today he felt he needed to do something eventful, something that’ll set him apart. But not long before he could get into that train of thought he was interrupted by a tug at his pant leg.

It was a little boy, not even tall enough to match his hip in height. He had deep blue eyes and fuzzy brown hair. He wore a t-shirt that read “BEARS” in large black lettering. His skin was a light pink, as if he had been in the sun too long. He looked up, curiosity apparent.

“My name is Daven.” He said casually.

“Hello, I’m carn.” The anomaly respectfully responded.

There was a pause as the kid looked at him for the longest time, a little bit of drool coming down his mouth.

“Can I-” Carn began, but was quickly interrupted.

“Can you help me?” The kid said suddenly. “My mother said I needed to bring an adult with me. I wanted to collect some ants for my farm, the the purple ones are way out at the edge of the Dame trees. Mama said I can’t go that far!”

“Oh, does it have to be me? I was kind of hoping to get some stuff done…” However, he was suddenly hit with the puppy dog eyes of doom, which quickly took over any words he could have had from that point on. “Of course I’ll do it!”

“Yay!” The kid yelled out, taking the Anomaly by the hand.

Deep within the Dame fruit field, the pair walked. The silence was killing him, so he eventually spoke up in an attempt to break the silence.

“So who is your mother anyways?”

“Oh, I don’t have a mother, never have.”

“Oh, that’s unfortunate…” Carn said, then it clicked. “Wait, what?”

“Oh yeah, sorry I lied.”

“Wh-why?”

“Because that was more believable than saying I had a psychic vision saying you needed to see something out here. My magical puppy dog eyes could only influence you so much…”

Carn was in shock, what exactly did he get himself into.

“Where are you leading me?”

“I have no idea. But I guess we’ll find out soon.”

Re: A Boy and His Anomaly - Carn_Val - 09-06-2015

Dumdfounded, I simply followed the boy physically with my thoughts running all over the place. "Now how did I get into this mess? I was walking down town hungry, looking for something and...and....and what next? Eyes? Why do I recall eyeballs? Round, shiny...wait, that kid. He did something... " Somehow, I can't seem to remember when did I actually start following the kid, it's just that...those eyes, gah, it reminds me of bad things, really bad things. If I had bodyhair, they'd be standing in attention. *shudders*

Before I overload my brain from thinking too much, I continued our little chat. "Actually, if you said so earlier, I would have believed you. I mean what kind of kid roams around in broad daylight looking for ants for their ant farm? You should be chilling somewhere cool with your fiddly hands on a Dataverse Tablet Device like any kid today would, playing games, checking the Dataverse and whatever. Just... don't read those tweets, mind you. Also, this is Ambrosia, a town of teenagers and juveniles of all races and species + ME, the adults moved out ages ago. Most of them." I tried to sound like I figured out his scheme, believe me, I tried.

"Well, you got a point there mister...uhm...miste-"
"Carn, just Carn. Can't believe you forgot my very special name after our introductions, Darryl, Darwin, Doo-hicky, Dave- kid, just kid, yeah, kid." The kid looked convinced.
"He seemed to have fallen for it, gehehe." The little uhm...boy(?) actually sounds nice considering I almost mistook him for a piece of talking ham I'd gladly bite a chunk off of. The fruits here will suffice though so I casually grab a ripe red fruit and munch on it, its juices oozing out as proof of its succulence. "So *munch* kid, where are we *munch* heading? If you really *munch* are psychic then you *munch* should know what's up ahead right?" I enticed him into eating as well, making sure every bite I took sent granulated foodbits unto his general direction as I gently spray some of the masticated bits at him to give him a sample of its taste while I was talking. "*gulp* Like an army of orcs from a rival orc tribe? Ofcourse I'm kidding."

Somehow, ignoring the stray bits of my recent meal on his face, the remark made the kid's expression switch from bright and cheery to dim, grim and sunk like a dingy in the middle of a shallow lake. What could that mean? Who cares? This is probably the adventure I was hoping for! I brace myself for whatever may happen, pushing the kid away from the suddenly hostile air. Scythe in hand, I couldn't hide the grin that was occupying half my face.
"This feels bad...just the way I like it."

“Also, my name is Daniel, get my name right.” The kid said in annoyance, shaking his grim expression.

Suddenly, they heard the pounding of paws against dirt. Both of them got on their guard. Carn readied his knife while the kid pulled out a stick. The pounding got louder as it became clear that it was four paws that was heading towards them.

Barreling passed the trees, a pair of bears appeared before them. Carn got into a fighting position, but the mammals stopped harmlessly before them, looking blankly at the pair.

“Ah! They’re here to give us rides!” Yelled the kid excitedly. He climbed until a bear’s back. “Don’t worry, I’ve ridden bears before. It’s easy!”

Carn noticed something. The kid’s shirt was a different color. He could have sworn it was red before, but now it is yellow. The text is different, it now reads “Flying arrow!”

“What’s the deal with your shirt?” He asked.

“My shirt?” The kid responded baffled. ”I never wear a shirt.”

“…okay.” The anomaly asked, his head now hurting in confusion.

He finally decides to take it all in stride and climbs onto the other bear’s back. His was a panda, the kid’s was a grizzly.

“Well, good job kid, we have rides now.”

“How many times do I have to tell you, my name is David.” they boy said, annoyed. “BTW, that fruit you were eating tastes terrible, especially when it’s not ripe like that.”
