GREAT question. Let me give you my top ten good features I look for:
1. Relative locomotion.
2. Ability to ensnare prey
3. Digestive functioning
4. Consistency of cytoplasm
5. Ability to extend and contract
6. Tiny hair like filaments to improve the above functions
7. A bulbous and amoebic shape.
8. Complex microtubule arrays.
9. Ability to retain overall shape
10. Survivability vs. other small organisms.
