Battle of Death Mountain Discussion Thread - Tearen Wover - 08-08-2015
So!
Since Nealaphh's assault on Volvagia's lair at the top of Death Mountain will soon be at hand, I figured it prudent to lay out where my thoughts are and what needs to happen for this event to kick off.
9. Muster forces at Death Mountain, divide into Alpha, Beta, and Gamma forces.
10. Alpha force, including Darunia, engages Volvagia directly, either slaying the dragon with the Gigaton hammer outright or wounding it badly enough so it retreats to its lair.
11. Beta force infiltrates lair and plants explosives to collapse Death Mountain summit on Volvagia in the event it retreats.
12. Gamma force fights off Volvagia's brood and prevents them from interfering.
13. Cake.[/spoiler]
It is my intention for this event to serve as the foundation for a bulk of the Omniverse Institute's membership. Joining this event does not mean you are joining the institute, but all denizens willing to help will receive a standing invitation.
I'm not sure what IC rewards Nealaphh can provide, but I'll sure as hell be making badges for participants.
I'm willing to hear any feedback on the plan, and anyone who wants to join or contribute is welcome to weigh in as well.
I'm going to be listing the groups and participants in a list below based on the squad they will be in. If you have not said so already, please confirm whether or not you will be participating in the event.

Since I'm already in the area with Rin, I might as well sign up. I'd think joining the Alpha or Gamma forces would be most useful, but it's all up to you in the end.

The plan looks pretty solid, gotta say.
Depending on how time frames work out, Colonel may very well be in the Steppes still, and would be willing to lend a hand. Adam will also very likely be coming along with the assistance from Ambrosia. I'll ponder over suitable locations in the three teams while things continue to be readied.

I've been keeping an eye on that whole story arc you've been constructing for awhile, Nealaphh. Zack will be at the Steppes still, and I've got plans for a Goron secondary if you're including secondaries on the mission in some role. Though the Institute doesn't line up with Zack's personality at the moment, he'd absolutely be in for fighting the dragon.

Well Demetri is already on a mission in the steppes, so he can help with anything you also need there. Also, I think demetri would be best suited for help with the beta team, if there's room. Lastly, sign me up for the cake.

Our (miranda, zack, etc) plot we are doing is fluid enough to break away and do other things. Im sure Miranda would be interested on helping

Well, definitely have some Ambrosians that want to be a part of this.
Like I said in our PMs, Guu will most likely be on the Beta force considering she has suppression, stealth, enhanced senses master, and she could hold all the bombs in her stomach.

Regarding the Gigaton hammer: It was my plan to give this to someone as a Tier 2 Super Move, but it has some basic requirements:
1. Wielder needs to be level 4, obviously.
2. Needs to have Physical Strength
3. Due to the immense weight, a base ATK of 5 or higher is needed.
Currently there are only a few people on the site who qualify, but if you're interested regardless, let me know.

If Neal emailed Grey and provided any amount of extra incentive, then Grey would absolutely help out with this. Neal doesn't have any way of realizing it at this stage in their relationship, but honestly, "you get to say you killed a dragon" is reason enough for somebody like TGM to tag along on this.

Regarding the Gigaton Hammer, I meet approximately one of the requirements -- Physical Strength -- and therefore am far from qualified to used the thing, but figured I'd express my interest regarding it, regardless.

As Zack, I'll fall into the exact same situation. Despite Zack's skill with larger and heavier than should be allowed weaponry, I won't quite make the cut, either.

Hey all,
So I know that everyone was mad hype for the Gigaton hammer, but I'm reconsidering giving it to someone as an actual power.
My reasoning is that I don't want other writers who participate to feel like they got shafted on rewards simply because they didn't meet some arbitrary number requirements.
I want the hammer to be a Super-Move because I wanted it to have a tangible effect on Volvagia, but rather than trying to figure out OM transfers and such, I think it would be easier to just clear its use against Volvagia despite not having actual mechanics.
Sorry for those who got super pumped about it; as long time DM, I just know that level based favoritism can breed resentment.

Did Zack get a hold of you when it came to Our plot crossing into the Volva-saga? Just wondering what time would be best for the quest, before or after we meet bowser? I personally can see recognition helping us (the bandit party) when it comes to locating the wheres and whys of the bandits.
I also can offer up the Npc Dr. Greene and his Hospital as a possible healing and resting location, from my Npc side thread if ya want.
