PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Proto Man - 07-08-2015

Dear Omniversians.

Kindly stop 'hatin' on Secondaries. Just because they're mortal and can't shoot rainbows out of their behinds doesn't make them lesser characters or meaningless.

Also kindly stop the libel about Secondaries always being frail, as this is not the case, regardless of how fresh primes like to treat Storm Troopers. If you're a fresh Prime, I can guarantee you that there are more than enough Secondaries out there who would love to beat your face apart.

I mean, the biggest difference between a Prime and a Secondary is that one of them was summoned specifically by Omni (the character). They should have been brought here for their own reasons... not to serve as someone's rival or as a convenient plot device.

If you want to continue to believe for whatever reason that Secondaries are beneath you, I implore you to walk up to the nearest Imperial Space marine and slap him in the face. Tell me how that works out.

--This has been a message brought to you by Proto Man--

So I should kill all Primes and Secondaries equally? Not spare secondaries?

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Mickey Mouse - 07-08-2015

Secondaries are the shit, y'all.

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Ganondorf - 07-09-2015

Basically all of this. Some of the best Secondary interaction I saw on the site was when Enel went to beat up on Stormtroopers and got his rear handed to him.

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Gildarts - 07-09-2015

I like to emphasize secondary hatred for primes because it gives a good dynamic and alternative from the seemingly increasing norm.

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Guu - 07-09-2015

For the longest time I've been thinking of bringing Dama in as a personal NPC Prime, but I'm incredibly reluctant to because any attempt to stat her would depower her considerably. xD

That's kind of the thing about bias towards primes. I mean a prime NPC needs to be carefully logged and won't be all that much more powerful than you, but a secondary, as long as the staff are cool with it and they are not helping you in PvP fights, can be as strong as you need them to be.

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Schwi Dola - 07-09-2015

And yet Assists are weaker than most primes and are powered up versions of Secondaries.

This really only makes sense if 50% or more Secondaries were summoned by primes with tier 3 unlocked.

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Ganondorf - 07-09-2015

No one ever said Assists were powered up Secondaries. In fact, the rules say: Powerful Primes with enough Omnilium can summon Secondaries more powerful than weak Primes.

Which, to me, has more to do with level than with Assists. And Secondaries such as Camelot Soldiers and Imperial Stormtroopers ARE summoned by Powerful Primes. Not to say ALL Secondaries will be stronger than a Prime, but I assume even Secondaries summoned by low-level Primes would be able to not get instantly steamrolled; no more than a brand new Prime would get destroyed by a 2 year veteran of the Site.

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Schwi Dola - 07-09-2015

Assist being powered up secondary is one of the options listed in the rules.

And primes barely grow in power. Ammo goes up fairly quick so there is a large disparity between level 1 and level 3 but not between level 2 and 4.

Secondaries don't have sp so the only strength that would relate is Stat increases which takes forever to get more than 3

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Ganondorf - 07-09-2015

From what I read in Assists, you simply use your SP to "activate" a Secondary's powers if you choose to use one via an Assist. Which, to me, seems more like you grant them a temporary access to your "Prime" abilities.

And "power" is pretty subjective. Whether its influence, physical strength, or additional abilities, writing and gaining OM allows a higher level character more option, at the very least. Even between 5000 and 5300 OM, the higher OM character has the potential to have 1 more Move than the "weaker" one.

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Schwi Dola - 07-09-2015

Moves don't get more powerful with levels generally. More tricks to do is certainly an advantage but not a power advantages

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Ganondorf - 07-09-2015

Again, "power" is subjective. Particularly in THIS setting. As your HP is static, making Moves gain more power would eventually end in everyone being able to 1 hit KO everyone. But, this isn't a video game. Gaining Power in the Omniverse isn't about having the most damaging Moves (though even the new Super Moves rules allow for greater damage potential). It's about how you use what you've gained for your advantage. For example, Palpatine is a Powerful Prime. Are his Moves any more damaging than your own? Probably not. But he has OM to blow, Secondaries out the whatsit, and an entire Verse at his disposal. And probably maxed or near maxed Stats.

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Schwi Dola - 07-09-2015

No, we've been told nobody has tier 3 and Palpatine falls under somebody.

I suppose the main issue I really have besides the mechanical issues already mentioned is that every prime should realize that Secondaries are not weaker than them. Which would make nearly everyone summon loyal Secondaries as cannon fodder.

which doesn't take sense when you are not allowed to use Secondaries in actual combat against other players.

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Proto Man - 07-09-2015

Palpatine has Tier 3. I assure you that one of the three earliest primes in the Omniverse has gained more than 100k OM.

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Ganondorf - 07-09-2015

I never made reference to tier 3, though I suppose a lot of Stat Increases would probably put one up there, disregarding any Moves and such one would buy.

Verse Leaders already summon Secondaries as cannon fodder. Storm Troopers. Knights. Koopa Troopas.

And being a Secondary DOES incur some weaknesses, such as not resurrecting upon death and being unable to utilize OM to summon things or improve themselves. However, there's no reason a Secondary couldn't have the drive to reach a Prime level of power. Commander Skender, a Secondary of Dobson Skender was one such individual.

But that's moving off-point. The thing is, even a freshly summoned Secondary of a brand new Prime shouldn't be roleplayed as being a wuss. At minimum, any combat-trained Secondary should be able to hold their own in a fight. Peasants are one thing, but a trained swordsman isn't just gonna sit there and let you pummel his face in.

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Minato Namikaze - 07-09-2015

What Ganon says is true. You'd think that any storm trooper stationed at the Gates would have had to be able to apprehend a Prime at some point, otherwise they wouldn't be stationed where freshly summoned primes appear.

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Schwi Dola - 07-09-2015

To have max stats you have tier 3 unlocked and that is without any moves or powers

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Omni - 07-09-2015

There are plenty of secondaries who are stronger than fresh primes. Such as Space Marines. Don't take 'em lightly. We are realistic fantasy, hence the stat explanations Tongue

Re: PSA - Stop Omniverse Segretation - Thaal Sinestro - 07-09-2015

Sinestro's biggest, toughest opponent is a Secondary. The Bandit With No Name is NO FUCKIN JOKE.

Also, not every goddamn character has to be a Prime. It's actually super inconvenient from a writing standpoint, because a Prime is just gonna come right back after your character, or remove all the drama and purpose to a death scene. If you can just Deadpool your way through life, dying and getting back up again, it really destroys a lot of Narrative drama. Secondaries are the most HUMAN characters you have the opportunity to write with. Take advantage of that.
