Making A Tarot-Based Character - Guest - 07-04-2015

Hello. I'm trying to create a character whose powers are themed around Tarot Cards, like the
Major Arcana and what not. Do you guys have any advice on how to create a build like that?

A bit more detail is needed to properly answer this. What capabilities would these tarot cards possess? Are they utilized for summoning minions and/or spells? As a medium for envisioning the future? Etc.

I was thinking of using either a setup similar to what Persona did or use one from this anime Daybreak Illusion
where the Tarots there were used to give the characters supernatural powers like Elemental Powers, Flight,
and summoning weapons and stuff. Does that help?

Yep that's cool if you wish to describe/roleplay your powers, moves, etc. sourcing from the cards. Though I feel it's worth mentioning that you won't be able to "gift" abilities to other people.

Thanks. So, you got any ideas for Tarot-based powers?

I'm not sure if this is still relevant, but one thing you could do is have moves be activated with a Tarot card that most corresponds with that move. Like, for example, a Debuff move could be activated with The Devil while a Buff move could be activated with The High Priestess card.

Also, much like how Tarot cards have different meanings depending on whether they're turned right-side up or upside down, you could have the cards do different things depending on how they're turned.
