Origin Stories - Zack Fair - 06-28-2015
Planning out my second character, who will be an OC from an established canon.
Is it acceptable to tell an origin story through dreams in the Astral Realm? The format would essentially be that each post is a snippet of the story, and once it's finished it wouldn't be too difficult to fill in the gaps. But the story would involve battles, multiple characters, and so on that set up how my character got to where he is now. Basically, I've got enough pre-Omniverse story dreamed up that I'd like to flesh it out, too.
I just want to make sure the limits because I realize it's essentially earning OM for things they did outside the Omniverse, even though they are dreaming in and experiencing it again inside the Omniverse.

The Astral realm is where dreams happen. It's perfectly reasonable for you to dream of past events there.

To be honest, this kind of raises the question as to whether we should have a special place on the forum for flashback storylines. I mean, as things currently stand, you can't really do standalone flashback storylines without tying them to an Omniverse-based storyline due to the fact that none of the currently available sub-forums are appropriate for it. Even the Astral Realm technically isn't appropriate, since not all flashbacks come in the form of dreams and could just be a character's memories.
Of course, one could argue that it should be that way and that having people write about non-Omniverse stuff too much is undesirable, but that's debatable. Either way, it would be interesting to know what staff thinks about the matter.

That's the exact reason I brought it up. "Dreams in the Astral Realm" isn't technically against any rule I could find, but as I was character building, as many ideas came to mind for pre-Omniverse scenes as ones for once he was here. So, having no shortage of scenes I could write forever just made me wonder...at what point is it too much, when I could end up earning OM by the thousands on flashbacks?

I don't see why you couldn't write the origin story and post it in whatever verse your character is in, just having your character reminiscing I thought would be OK?

I'm pretty sure this is 100% okay as long as it isn't used to write the same character in multiple locations simultaneously.

I'm going straight-up approve writing your pre-Omniverse story in the astral realm for now until we have an official FAQ addressing it or a better place to post these stories. This is really just a formatting thing as you've always been able to post flashbacks in your current topic.
This is STILL not an approval of fluid time, just for 100% clarity.
