Character Help - Trixie - 09-20-2013

As I suspected my desire to play Trixie isn't as strong as my desire to play a pilot of some sort. So my question to Ganon and Omni is how I might play a Gundam or Mobile Suit pilot? I'm not looking to play Tallgeese or anything. I'm looking to play a Zaku II. The problem is it'd be two things. A pilot and a mech. No idea how that'd work.

Re: Character Help - Ganondorf - 09-20-2013

Use a transformation, once you make level 2. It'd be temporary, however.

Re: Character Help - Trixie - 09-20-2013

See I'm conflicted as fuck. I want to roleplay Trixie and I also want play a pilot character. SO CONFUSED.

Re: Character Help - Ganondorf - 09-20-2013

Make Trixie into a pilot. Sounds like a plan to me.

=o

Sounds legit

Re: Character Help - PepsiWhirda - 09-20-2013

What will a Gundam turn into if you need to enter a less civilized verse? A big dragon or something?

Re: Character Help - Thaal Sinestro - 09-20-2013

He didtched the vehicle rules

Re: Character Help - Proto Man - 09-20-2013

You still can't drive a tank around Camelot. The change was just for small things like motorcycles and horses.

Re: Character Help - Ganondorf - 09-20-2013

Transformations are different. We're not gonna take away someone's giant dragon form or their giant robot form just because they're in an opposing Verse. Because they cost actual OM, they can bend the rules. Or Greg will call me dumb and say differently.

Re: Character Help - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-20-2013

Greg will probably swing by and call us idiots and make a ruling but I could imagine a mech could work something like fluff for your actual combat. Much like Nanoha's Raising Heart is mostly fluff.

So all your stats and moves and whatnot are based around the mech being piloted, so the mech itself doesn't count as a power or transformation or anything like that, but doesn't give you anything extra.

Then you just have to stick to you being essentially powerless or really weak while out of the mech. Maybe make it so you can shrink the mech or some shit to fit inside buildings (later? start with that? don't know?).

Again, it's similar to Raising Heart. Nanoha can cast spells without Raising Heart activated, but they're super draining or really week. That's only fluff though, and according to the rules I can do them even without it activated, but I wont because that's not how the character works. Same with all my self-imposed limits on what spells she can use it what form Raising Heart is in- just more fluff.

I'm confused as to why you're aware of that, and yet you're still posting. Tongue FTR, changing size without a transformation or physical shapeshifting (which has the limitations specified in the description) is a no-go.

So yes, everything Ganondorf has said is correct. You'll need a Transformation, unless the mech is smaller than twelve-feet-ish.

Now, as for how to go about it ... I'd recommend your base form is a pilot. Make them able to hold their own. Have guns and other equipment. You could even have a power suit. You could make a Tier 1 Transformation a smaller mech, and then have a full-sized mech as Tier 2/3 Transformations, to make it more believable. Obviously it means you'll be a while before you have a full-sized mech, but when you do it'll feel appropriately powerful. However, that's just my recommendations. The ruling is that you can do what you want, except that your base form can't be taller than 12 feet.

Quote:Giant body
Any character over twelve feet tall is classified as a 'giant'. Whether it’s turning into a giant monkey or climbing into your giant robot, being huge has its advantages, gigantic reach being one of them. However! You must have a minimum of 3 attack and the power ‘physical strength’. Bear in mind that your speed and defense do not ‘size’ up automatically, so relatively speaking you will be moving much slower (since you’re bigger) and if you have 0 defense you’re still going to get blown up, especially since you’re a much bigger target. To feel properly epic, Omni recommends at LEAST 3 in attack, defense and speed to use such a form! (so use it with Power-Ups if you can).

^That's the official advice.

Re: Character Help - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-21-2013

For some reason I thought giant body was just a power rather than a transformation thing (and also more than 12 feet)

shrug

Re: Character Help - Omni - 09-21-2013

Forgot to mention this: You could also, as an addition, summon your mech to fight beside you in like, auto-pilot mode with a Summon. Just some more fun ideas to consider. I may well be getting Samus's ship as a summon.
