Outlast - Omni - 09-08-2013

The reviews are making this game out to be one of the best horror games ever made. I've gotta say, I love the features I've read about. Always seeing your hands, feet etc. Being able to glance over your shoulder while running. All little features that could add up to something great, which they do if the reviews are to be believed. Only £15 on Steam, likely gonna get it when I get home.

It's. Terrifying.

I'm no good at these 'actual' horror games. Gawd.

Re: Outlast - Omni - 09-09-2013

See, I like horror but I find every horror game with good horror has terrible, clunky gameplay and totally obtuse puzzles. See: original Resident Evil and Amnesia (which I got stuck on so many times in such a short space of gameplay, I eventually gave up).

But let's give this a try. Purchased. Downloading.

Re: Outlast - Magus - 09-09-2013

Resident Evil =! Horror.

At least, I didn't find it frightening in the slightest. Ridiculous, maybe. Tongue

Re: Outlast - Proto Man - 09-09-2013

The first few are scary. Go play the remake of the first one and try to tell me that game isn't unsettling.

You can't tell me the game where you have the unkillable dude who randomly shows up and chases you from room to room isn't horrifying.

Anything passed the original three were less so.

Re: Outlast - Magus - 09-09-2013

Sorry, man. They never did anything for me.

Re: Outlast - Ganondorf - 09-10-2013

I didn't have a problem beating Amnesia, or any of the Penumbra games... Also, the best I could say about them is that they were neat little puzzlers and a bit startling at times. To be honest, I've played scarier games on Newgrounds. >.>

Re: Outlast - Jack Frost - 09-13-2013

first of all never walk into an insane asylum
that's when i started shivering, i don't know a lot about it but a saw pewdiepie play some. pretty unsettling if you ask me.

Re: Outlast - Omni - 09-13-2013

Only about an hour in so far but nothing that special tbh. Then again I am kind of immune to horror. The first jump scare got me, but then the others have been pretty predictable (if I walk past a sleeping guy to get a key, I WONDER WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE WAY BACK) and getting caught by an inmate just resulted in getting knocked a bit. I'm sure if I sat and got wailed on I'd die, but I OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T. Just took some of the scariness away.

Re: Outlast - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-13-2013

I've been told it gets pretty crazy at about 3 hours in.

Re: Outlast - Sarah_Kerrigan - 09-13-2013

I am really bad with anything even slightly resembling horror. For instance, I could never play Dead Space properly because it freaked me out.
