OmniLottery Poll - Monkey D. Luffy - 05-01-2015 I've been toying with an idea, basically it will consist of players purchasing raffle tickets with their OM. At the end of every Fortnight, I will draw a winning ticket. Depending on participation, I'll likely draw a Runner-Up ticket, and possibly even a Tertiary ticket. All of the OM acquired via ticket purchases will be pooled together to sum up the prize values, so more players = higher rewards. Tickets will cost 25 OM each, and players may purchase up to 4 tickets. The higher the risk, the greater the gain, the better your chances. Also, as a special bonus, unique items and goodies will be up for grabs as well. I will either hint at what it may be, or simply display the name of said items. So there's more incentive than just extra OM. I just need to see who would be interested in this idea, because I'm not going to do it if only a couple players plan to play along. Thoughts? Suggestions? Criticisms? GO! Re: OmniLottery Poll - Carn_Val - 05-01-2015 Sounds good to me. As long as you can handle it. 1 ticket please! Re: OmniLottery Poll - Illidan Stormrage - 05-01-2015 I'm a fan. Re: OmniLottery Poll - Darth Vader - 05-02-2015 I likey. Re: OmniLottery Poll - Drogon - 05-02-2015 Yes, but only because of the goodies. Otherwise just seems silly Re: OmniLottery Poll - Blackfire - 05-02-2015 I support any type of lottery. Re: OmniLottery Poll - Monkey D. Luffy - 05-03-2015 Does anybody think 25 OM a ticket is too steep? Keep in mind lowering it would inherently lower the prize money. Re: OmniLottery Poll - Doomguy - 05-03-2015 I don't think that's too much, since even smaller posts can easily get 25 OM. even a dataverse post can get 25 OM without trouble Re: OmniLottery Poll - Darth Vader - 05-03-2015 What Doomguy said. For people who vote daily, get their gains and keep up good posting activity, 25 OM really isn't a lot. Re: OmniLottery Poll - Monkey D. Luffy - 05-03-2015 Alright great. My thoughts exactly. Although I should reiterate that you can purchase up to 4 Tickets, which would total 100 OM but provide you much better chances of winning. Re: OmniLottery Poll - Zelda - 05-03-2015 I voted yes. Re: OmniLottery Poll - Retane - 05-03-2015 Its held Fortnightly. You get 60+ OM for posting a 600 word post, You get an addiitional 300 OM. HOWEVER... I think this needs to be kinda IC... Karl Jak would actually be a good host for this thing. OR the News guy. Lol. As long as it is Random.org ed I am fine I think? But I tihnk you should also have to have either a communicator or a device maybe 50 OM? To be able to do it. It's stupid if not. Re: OmniLottery Poll - Deadpool - 05-03-2015 Retane Wrote:Its held Fortnightly. You get 60+ OM for posting a 600 word post, You get an addiitional 300 OM. I understand where you're coming from, but I would counter with this . . . Book Club Voting Both of the above aren't IC things, but still give out OM Re: OmniLottery Poll - Retane - 05-03-2015 It's stupid if it doesn't make sense IC. PLus you have to Make Sure it is Noted that they Have the available OM in the first place... You know, versus Spent OM. It could just be detracted from the 300OM you get from Fortnight Gains. It seems like a lot of work, but could be fun. @Deadpool: You are trading Raw OM to do this. Not just gaining it. UNLESS It is the OM you gain from Fortnightly Gains so it never becomes an issue. Though I think if It is 25 OM per ticket up to 4, you need to clarify it in your Fortnight Post. And all that. lol Re: OmniLottery Poll - Dark Link - 05-03-2015 I'm presuming the way it would work is the same as purchasing powers, proficiencies and such. If someone wanted to participate, they would post in the lottery thread and then update their purchase log and roster accordingly. In other words, they would be using their free OM to buy the ticket; so if they didn't have any, they would have to roleplay to get the OM needed. Normally, I'm not a fan of gambling, but since the price of entry is low, I'm not opposed to the idea. That said, doesn't this kind of initiative technically conflict with the fact that gifting OM isn't permitted? I mean, you're not really giving it to anyone specifically, but it does still qualify as giving OM away. Re: OmniLottery Poll - Monkey D. Participants would log that they are purchasing the raffle ticket(s). Also, it's OOC just like the Book Club and Voting. I won't force players to purchase communication devices to play. If they wish to involve it IC somehow, they're free to do so, but it's not mandatory. In regards to "giving away OM," what would you call the Book Club, Voting, and Fortnightly Bonuses? All of that is free OM earned outside of actually roleplaying. Also, Participation Bonuses fall under the umbrella of Gifted OM. Re: OmniLottery Poll - PepsiWhirda - 05-03-2015 I wonder why this couldn't be free. A monthly lottery with an interesting artefact and some OM is interesting, as an incentive to keep yourself involved - similar to a fortnightly bonus, which comes at no cost. You know, versus Spent OM. This is how I mean the above: why should this constitute an investment vs. the many ways "free OM" are available? Re: OmniLottery Poll - Monkey D. You know, versus Spent OM. Because the others are not "free" either. With Book Club, you earn a reward by reviewing player threads. With Voting, you earn a reward by diligently casting votes for the site. With Fortnightly Gains, you have to actively roleplay to gain a bonus reward. There's no "labor" involved with the lottery system, hence the investment. Additionally, the rewards are the sum of all OM used for ticket purchases. So really, there's no free OM given out. Although, on occasion I may add specials and such to spice things up. I'll also add in unique goods as a higher incentive to participate. Re: OmniLottery Poll - Retane - 05-03-2015 Again, after thinking this through, I think this needs to be INCLUDED in the FORTNIGHTLY GAINS with inclusion of purchases. THUS, no one ever sees the friggin OM and are not gambling RAW OM.... |
