Erza Scarlet - Erza - 03-29-2015

Character name: Erza Scarlet

Character source: Fairy Tail

Character history:

Warning: Whoole buncha Fairy Tail spoilers in this section.

[spoiler]Erza was born and lived her very early life in the small inland town of Rosemary Village in Fiore, a large continent-nation in a world where magic is commonplace (Though not everyone can use it) and the monarchy is powerful, but not nearly so much so as the Magic Guilds and their governor, the Magic Council. Strangely, Erza never knew her family name, and as such was likely an orphan, though I don’t think this was ever confirmed. Her village was raided by a cult following Zeref, a sort of deity of chaos. The invaders killed all of the adults, and kidnapped all of the children they could find. Erza was captured herself, but managed to help hide other children before being taken.

From then on, she was forced into child labor as a slave on the site of the Tower of Heaven, alongside other youngsters including Jellal Fernandes, Simon, Wally, Sho, and Millianna. Near the beginning of their stay, the group exchanged names, and when it was discovered that Erza had no last name, Jellal decided it should be Scarlet, after the color of her hair, so that he’d never forget it. The two became especially close.

The 11-year-olds hatched an escape plan, but they were caught, and Jellal was brought to a place of solitary confinement. Here, he was chained to a wall and approached by Ultear (claiming to be Zeref), and over the course of his confinement corrupted and turned evil. The others were sent back to their cell. They eventually devised a second escape plan, but this time, involving all of the other prisoners as well, taking up arms with whatever was lying around as weapons. During the revolt, Erza went to save Jellal, but he was thoroughly corrupted and himself attempted to quell the rebellion by force after being released. During the rebellion, Erza learned of her magic abilities and lost use of one of her eyes.

The prisoners that didn’t die in combat, including all of Erza’s group but Jellal, managed to board a boat to escape the tower, but Jellal blew it up and blamed it on Erza, causing the others in the group to both hate her and join Jellal in continuing the tower’s construction.

Upon washing up on the shore of the mainland, Erza made her way to Fairy Tail, one of the major Magic Guilds of Fiore housed in the center of Magnolia Town and one hated by the Magic Council for causing damage and mischief along with their successes. From there, the guild master, Makarov, sent her to his friend, a witch doctor of sorts, who gave her a new, working eye (though for a while it could not form tears). Erza essentially lived out the next 8 years as a premier member of the guild, becoming the youngest member to ascend to the rank of S-Class at the age of 15. She became sort of the guild’s disciplinarian, primarily keeping Natsu and Grey in check between overly-dangerous solo jobs. She was around 19 years of age at the beginning of manga/anime, when Lucy joined the guild.

Soon after Lucy joined the guild, Erza, Lucy, Grey, Natsu and Happy were sent on a mission to stop an evildoer named Erigor and his Zeref-worshipping “Dark Guild” (an evil magic guild not recognized by the Magic Council). After coming out successful, the five of them became a more permanent team and tended to stick together on future missions. In the midst of all this, Erza discovered that Jellal had infiltrated the Magic Council, and subsequently became more suspicious of the council herself.

Later, during a vacation on the beach, Erza was kidnapped by Simon, Wally, Sho and Millianna, who brought her back to the Tower of Heaven to meet up with Jellal again. Natsu, Lucy, Juvia and Grey followed (Happy was also kidnapped). It was revealed that Jellal was planning to use the Tower of Heaven to collect magic energy from the Magic Council’s superweapon in a giant lacrima hidden inside of the tower, and then sacrifice Erza to summon Zeref. The group fought Jellal’s allies individually, eventually convincing them that Jellal was in the wrong. Simon ended up sacrificing himself to save Erza from Jellal’s attacks, buying Natsu enough time to take him out - But not before Erza also tried to sacrifice herself to save her friends. She was herself saved by Natsu, who convinced her that taking such an action would be counterproductive. After these events, Millianna, Wally and Sho go off on their own to explore the world they’ve missed out on these past 8 years.

Bits of the story important to Erza begin again when she, along with most of the Fairy Tail guild, are transported to the alternate reality of Edolas in the form of a magical lacrima. The remaining members of the guild, including Mystogan (who turned out to be Edolas’s version of Jellal), go to Edolas to save their guildmates. When Erza and Grey are returned to their human forms by a powerful attack from Gajeel, she goes to fight her alternate-reality equal, Erza Nightwalker, who is evil and working for the government to take out Edolas’s Fairy Tail. Edolas’s citizens don’t use magic innately, instead using magic items, and so Erza Knightwalker fights with a magic spear that can change forms, much like Erza can requip armor and weapons at will. Scarlet ends up winning by a hair. Ultimately, Mystogan takes over leadership of Edolas, and the rest of Fairy Tail is freed and sent back to Earthland.

Soon after, the test to ascend a new S-Class Wizard happens, and basically all of Fairy Tail’s strong wizards are shipped off to the guild’s private island as either participants or testers, Erza being of the latter. The test is interrupted by the Dark Guild Grimoire Heart, lead by Makarov’s father (the first leader of Fairy Tail) and including Ultear, the woman who corrupted Jellal at the Tower of Heaven. They are searching for Zeref, who is in fact residing on the island. Eventually, they defeat the Dark Guild, but are accosted by the giant black dragon Acnologia, who unleashes a ridiculously powerful attack on the island. In order to preserve the beaten and bruised elite members of Fairy Tail, the ghost of the first Guild Master cast a spell that put them all to sleep and preserved their state – for 7 years.

In the not-so-short time between the backbone of the guild leaving and returning seven years later, the guild had fallen into disarray and was barely holding on. Upon returning and finding the current state of the guild, Erza and the others worked to preserve the guild and return it to its former glory, as well as catching up with the world and coming to terms with having been missing for a full seven years.

Eventually, an opportunity for the Guild to regain its status comes around in the form of the Grand Magic Games. Before going, Erza and Team Natsu meet up with Jellal, Ultear and another wizard from the former Grimoire Heart. They have apparently changed their ways and want Erza and the others to attend the Grand Magic Games to help get data on weird magic that has been present there for a while. Jellal, after having lost his memories after the Tower of Heaven arc, now has them back and is working to undo the evils he has caused. Erza and Jellal begin to get romantic, but when Erza tries to kiss him, he shies away, making the excuse of being engaged, which was understood as a sad attempt at a lie by all who heard it.

Erza and Jellal (Along with most of the other guild members who were missing) join in a team for Fairy Tail, Jellal disguised as Mystogan. Erza does well for her team, including the feat of killing all 100 of the giant monsters in a castle meant to be taken out a few at a time by each of the event’s participants.

One of the other participating teams, from a guild called Mermaid Heel, includes Millianna, as well as Kagura, the younger sister of the deceased Simon. The two are in cahoots to hunt down Jellal, who they blame for Simon’s death, and Millianna goes so far as to ask Erza for help. In Erza’s final confrontation with Kagura, it is revealed that Simon died protecting her from Jellal, and so his death was also partly Erza’s fault. However, she ends up sparing Erza’s life because the two of them realize that Erza had saved Kagura from being kidnapped in Rosemary by stuffing her in a barrel, giving up her last possible hiding spot and being taken instead.

After Fairy Tail won the Grand Magic Games, a gate to the past was opened and seven dragons escaped. The largest, controlled by Gajeel’s rival, Rogue, laid numerous eggs that instantly hatched into relatively-man-sized dragonlets, which were kept occupied by non-dragon-slayers, including Erza. Once they were defeated, and celebrations of Fairy Tail’s victory were over both in the Capital City and in Magnolia, Erza fell asleep, still a bit battered but overall content with the outcomes of the day… And woke up in a void, facing a floating white outline of a man. [/spoiler]

Erza is relatively average height, around 5’9”. She sports long, scarlet hair and deep green eyes, and a thin but toned body. Her casual wear generally consists of the Heart Kreuz armor and the sword that comes with it – She is rarely completely off her guard, mostly due to her rough upbringing and tendency to become irritated with the slightest disturbance from her will. She normally lets her hair hang free, but this changes as she requips different armors.

[spoiler] This armor set consists of a standard plate mail chestplate adorned with the Heart Kreuz company logo, a pair of metal gloves with ornamental wings, a plain cloth skirt and black leather boots. This is Erza’s standard wear most of the time, and as such, she CAN requip into it (taking a few seconds) but it is usually available from the get-go. Along with the armor, she summons a rather plain, basic sword around 3.5 feet in length, adorned with a simple decorative handguard. [/spoiler]

Requip: Black Wing Armor (300 OM) (Physical Strength, Flight)

[spoiler] [img] <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.cosplayisland.co.uk/files/costumes/1095/70844/CI_70844_1352936133.jpg">http://www.cosplayisland.co.uk/files/co ... 936133.jpg</a><!-- m --> [/img]

[spoiler] Erza takes a few seconds to requip into the Black Wing Armor. This armor is primarily black, and sports heavily armored arms, shoulders, and skirt, but minimal protection elsewhere for the sake of mobility. It also comes with a pair of essentially giant bat wings on Erza’s back. For roleplaying purposes, it is more practical for offense than defense, seeing as how it allows for good mobility but offers little protection, and as such Erza will be far more aggressive with her fighting style while wearing it. Her hair is done up a bit differently as well, with two long bunches coming down the front from the sides, and the rest tied up into a giant ponytail in the back.

This armor comes with the Black Wing Sword which, while it is of similar length, appears radically different. It sports symmetrical jagged, silver edges, with a purple flatside sporting an angry red splash in the center. Rather than a handguard, it merely sports a gold ring, and the sword itself flares out a bit near to the ring. As such, this sword is stronger than that which Erza normally uses in terms of offense due to its jagged and sharper edges, but is more difficult to use defensively due to its lack of a handguard and irregular shape. [/spoiler]

Requip: Flame Empress Armor (600 OM) (Physical Strength)

[spoiler] [img] <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/fairytail/images/b/b3/Flame_Empress_Armor.png/revision/latest?cb=20130303202012">http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/fai ... 0303202012</a><!-- m --> [/img] [/spoiler]

[spoiler] Erza takes a few seconds to requip into the Flame Empress Armor. This armor is a mix of black, orange and dark red, and covers all but her upper legs, shoulders and neckline with a mixture of metal and leather armor bits. It also prominently features an orange-and-black decorative metal collar, a pair of red-and-black tattered wings, and a pair of clear, pointed earrings. What this armor lacks in terms of general defense, it makes up for by giving Erza a significant resistance to fire damage. Erza wears her hear in two very long twintails, giving off the effect of a dragon’s horns.

It comes equipped with the Flame Sword, a mostly-dark-red metal blade with a black center, a golden hilt featuring red accents, and a plain black handle. This sword is less powerful than her others, but in exchange it is exceptionally good at blocking or cutting through fire-based attacks.

While using the Flame Sword, Erza can infuse it with the power of fire by concentrating for a moment, essentially setting the blade aflame with magical energy and turning it into a more flexible, slightly longer katana made of pure fire. This lasts 20 seconds. Since this greatly increases the power of the weapon, it costs a significant amount of magical energy, much more than most requips, and as such can only be used once per fight. [/spoiler]

Apologies for the visible BBCode, I can't figure out how to turn it on as a guest.
I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

Re: Erza Scarlet - Sarah_Kerrigan - 03-30-2015

Everything looks alright except this last bit on one of your Moves:

Quote:While using the Flame Sword, Erza can infuse it with the power of fire by concentrating for a moment, essentially setting the blade aflame with magical energy and turning it into a more flexible, slightly longer katana made of pure fire. Only power ups and certain items can actually increase your power. This sounds awfully like it is increasing your attack - which is a no no. Basically, the only way to do that would be to give the activation of the 'flames' a downside or something like it which would inherently increase it's power; having it be active for only 20 seconds doesn't really count as a flaw.

Also please realize that your different 'armors' are purely cosmetic in the form you are submitting them. One couldn't give increased defense/offense etc. Please remove any bits that imply the stat changes. Like I think in one case you said it offers greater mobility . . . for example. If you want to go that route, you'll need to make them proper alternate forms. Otherwise you are essentially paying for the varying weapon types.

So, since I can't edit the original, I've just reposted the whole thing here with working BBCode and (I think) the necessary changes.

[spoiler][Image: Erza-Cosplay-(Fire-Empress-Armor)-from-Fairy-Tail.jpg]

Erza takes a few seconds to requip into the Flame Empress Armor. This sword is less powerful than her others in terms of sheer strength, but in exchange it is exceptionally good at blocking or cutting through fire-based attacks, and additionally does some amount of fire-based damage itself.

While using the Flame Sword, Erza can use the Flame Slash move (300 OM) (Physical Strength, Burst Movement):

Erza takes a moment to infuse the Flame Sword with the power of fire (3 seconds, plus 2 seconds before she can attack again), setting all but the hilt of the blade aflame with magical energy. She then rapidly lunges at her enemy with a slash, following it up with a combo of decisive strikes that lasts a few seconds (Though it can be interrupted). The sword then returns to normal, and Erza must take a moment to rest. This move depletes a large amount of magical energy.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

What is the exact charge up time for this flame strike? A moment isn't very clear . . . a few seconds 10 etc? The longer the charge up time the more powerful this slash would be; that is why it needs to be precise. Also define a large amount of magic energy in terms of fatigue. Since magic can mean many different things in the Omniverse and all.

As a suggestion, if you want each armor to be unique (without having an alt form) you could give each one a very specific ability that way it would be more than just a cosmetic change. Granted, you may have to be flexible with Fairy Tail to apply that train of thought.

Re: Erza Scarlet - Erza Scarlet - 03-31-2015

Edited.

Quote:As a suggestion, if you want each armor to be unique (without having an alt form) you could give each one a very specific ability that way it would be more than just a cosmetic change. Granted, you may have to be flexible with Fairy Tail to apply that train of thought.

See, based on Omniverse rules and your previous comment about the blackwing armor, I thought the most I could get away with was the purely cosmetic armor and the different weapon attached with it as the actual OM-costing move. I definitely want the Flame Empress armor to have fire-absorption properties, but I suspect that would cost another 300 OM I don't have at the moment. Same goes for some other armors I haven't made into moves yet. As for the Heart Kreuz and Blackwing, I'm pretty happy with how they are now - In the anime, the Blackwing armor rather vaguely "Grants increased offensive capabilities) which is a no-no for a simple move (And I'm fine with the sword exhibiting that instead), and gives her the ability to fly short distances, but I already bought flight because that happens with several armors.
