Re: Colosseum Tournament - Bandit With No Name - 10-12-2015 We need 3 more entrants to make this not awful lol Re: Colosseum Tournament - Simon - 10-12-2015 Bandit With No Name Wrote:We need 3 more entrants to make this not awful lolAnd what happens if we don't? Do we bring in some NPCs to fill the gaps? Do we bring in some NPCs to fill the gaps? THINGS WILL BE AWFUL AND THERE WILL BE UNEVEN MATCHES AND THE BRACKETS WILL LOOK LIKE SHIT Basically it just won't be fun. (Also no there will be no NPCs. Proto said so.) Re: Colosseum Tournament - Bandit With No Name - 10-12-2015 Nah, there'll either be byes or it's gonna be a clusterfuck of 3-way fights Re: Colosseum Tournament - Strazio Rockwell - 10-12-2015 Couldn't there just be byes given to a lucky few? to keep things even? Re: Colosseum Tournament - Bandit With No Name - 10-12-2015 Yeah, 3 Byes. I'd just rather avoid that. Re: Colosseum Tournament - Schwi Dola - 10-12-2015 Why is there a problem at all? If there are an even number of entrants, all 1v1s. If there is an odd number, one 1v1v1 in the first round would resolve everything. Every pairing up the line has to be divisible by 2, so even if you smooth out the first one, then there's trouble up the line. In order for it to be even, each segment has to double. I've been playing with this all night, I didn't just like, whip this out of nowhere and panic lol Re: Colosseum Tournament - Bandit With No Name - 10-12-2015 Like, if we did 13 two-way battles and 1 three-way, you'd end up with 14 survivors. Then they'd need to do 7 two-way battles, and now you've got 7 survivors, so now you gotta do 2 two-ways and 1 three-way, then you have 3 people duking it out for the grand championship and that's jsut messy and gross as hell. Nobody wants to DO let alone JUDGE a three-way grand champion bout. Re: Colosseum Tournament - Bandit With No Name - 10-12-2015 I've got about 7 iterations of these brackets, figuring in 3 ways, 4 ways, and all kinds of nonsense. The cleanest 2 options are: a shit ton of 3 ways or 3 people get a Bye. Re: Colosseum Tournament - Weiss Schnee - 10-12-2015 This is how it goes when you leave room for murphy's law Re: Colosseum Tournament - Reece - 10-12-2015 According to this list, there are 29 participants... is that correct? If so then it'd be possible to just let one person skip the first two rounds, and that would solve all the problems, provided none of you minded allowing that. Hardly ideal, I know, but I thought the possibility worth mentioning, at least. That way you'd end up with: 14 1v1 fights; 14 survivors. 7 1v1 fights; 7 survivors + New Contestant Introduced! 4 1v1 fights; 4 semi-finalists. 2 1v1 fights; 2 finalists. 1 1v1 fight; Champion is decided! It's not perfect, but there'd be no need for three three way fights, and no need to kick out three people; it might be the lesser of three evils, y'know? Wow, that sentence sure did contain a lot of threes... P.S. I'm not actually a participant, so I'm well aware that I have no say in how this thing goes down; I just thought I might as well offer some friendly advice. Re: Colosseum Tournament - Bandit With No Name - 10-12-2015 A bye is when you allow somebody to skip the first round and move into the second, so you're proposing a bye haha Re: Colosseum Tournament - Black Mage - 10-12-2015 Hideaki Yajima Wrote:According to this list, there are 29 participants... is that correct? Rather than giving one person 2 byes how about you have one person take a bye first round, then whoever has the greatest margin of victory gets a bye the second round? Re: Colosseum Tournament - Lubbock - 10-12-2015 I am in favour of Hideaki's proposal, except I think that rather than having one person skip two rounds entirely, maybe they could have a bye in first, before swapping out with a randomly picked contestant in second round. DAMNIT, BM BEAT ME TO IT Re: Colosseum Tournament - Bandit With No Name - 10-12-2015 This is how the brackets would work. What ya'll are suggesting wouldn't work lol Re: Colosseum Tournament - Ruby Rose - 10-12-2015 OMFG WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF CHALLONGE BEFORE?! I use that site for a crap ton of match-ups in fighting games and just watch the CPUs fight Re: Colosseum Tournament - Proto Man - 10-12-2015 As mentioned in chat, I got extremely ill after a little too much drinking Saturday night (my girlfriend's brother just had his wife walk out on him so I was trying to keep him from spiraling into sadness). After a day of rest and strong-arming the needed entrants to make this a situation where we don't have to worry about byes or 1v1v1s or anything like that, I am happy to announce the seeding for the tournament (courtesy of Random.org). I'm going to create a fancy internet bracket and post that, but the list below reflects who is paired with whom. The first person listed will be responsible for posting first. In future rounds, whoever scored better in the previous round may choose to go first or defer to their opponent. I've also listed the judge for each fight. While everyone is unique, all judges will be using the same grading/scoring template (Judges... I'll get that to you shortly <_<) Okor Weiss Schnee (Judge - Caira) Yu Kanda Ms. Marvel (Judge - Trixie) Kopaka Ururu Kyuuei (Judge - Sinestro) Dawnika Snow Black Mage (Judge - Caira) Jak Mar Dante (Judge - Trixie) Adam Gaite Ballad (Judge - Sinestro) Gamzee Makara Strazio Rockwell (Judge - Caira) Gildarts Bandit With No Name (Judge - Trixie) Desco Mami Tomoe (Judge - Sinestro) Kakashi Hatake Shulk (Judge - Caira) Tartaros Rin (Judge - Trixie) Ruby Rose Wakka (Judge - Sinestro) Magus BlackāStar (Judge - Caira) Alexyana Courier Six (Judge - Sinestro) Shang Tsung King Axorn (Judge - Caira) Monkey D. Luffy Alain the Carnedge (Judge - Sinestro) On an unrelated note, I am looking for another alternate judge as a backup. The only requirement is that you're not a part of the tournament. Re: Colosseum Tournament - Black Mage - 10-12-2015 I am officially in the tournament now, if y'all are ready to go. EDIT: Could we make like, March Madness Brackets of the tournament for fun? |
