Have we had complaints?

No.. And the judges are kicking ass!

I think this was just a blanket statement for the community as a whole, as to, avoid any future headaches that may arise from human difference.

Example: Judge A really loves writing that uses inner monologue, where as Judge B couldn't care much for it..

Both Judges may score on grammar alike, however, what interests them varies, so scores on Voice may differ between Judge B and A.

Basically, in this example, if you get a 4 in voice with Judge A, but a 3 with Judge B, it's not an injustice, it's just human difference.

Also, realize that littler differences like this are so minute, it mostly goes unnoticed. We wouldn't be selecting people for judges who we didn't feel would represent an adequate representation for the kind of writing we strive for, here on the Omniverse.

Re: Colosseum Tournament - Bandit With No Name - 10-16-2015

I'm also saying that some judges just prefer to give people higher overall scores, so what might be a 2 or 3 to one judge might be a 3 or 4 to another.

I'm mainly saying that because, under the definition of the score card, a 10 is about site average (meaning that the majority of writers should fall around a 10) and Tartaros just scored a 19. Gildarts just scored it highly, and I don't want people who I've previously graded feeling like shit because they got just above our just below a 10.

Gildarts just scores things with higher numbers than I do, which is actually totally fine because she's still choosing a winner with a clearly defined numeric score to compare the two writers with.

Basically don't feel shitty because you see people getting hugely higher score cards than you got, because you were likely graded by me and the other dude was scored by another judge who has their own "average".

What's important is that you're getting C&C, you can see how the numbers in your card compares to the other writer, and a winner is decided.

And can things like wall walking techniques allow Ururu to cling to it or will it repel people as well.
Completely, amazing super duper impervious to everything ever, physical, mental, emotional, metaphysical, pseudo-physical, nonphysical, hypothetical or anything other combination of anything. It's only purpose is to keep moves and stuff from entering or exiting the arena and can't really be used for anything else. The terrain inside the barrier is the stuff you can traverse, but the actual shield around the field isn't something you can climb on/use for much else.
can people hear other battles through the barrier?

Re: Colosseum Tournament - Trixie - 10-16-2015

I grade what I'm reading as a stand alone thing. Not as a site wide writing thing. So if this fight is your best writing ever and you get a 5. Then you'll get a 5.

Or is this not a thing?

Agreed. I'm actually MORE excited to have my work critiqued 'competitively' than I am to win any fights.

Re: Colosseum Tournament - Yu Kanda - 10-16-2015

Even though it is not my time to post yet, i wish to ask for extension for my final post. On sunday i have my anniversary with my girlfriend which we will celibrate, and monday i will be working late. I will do everything i can to post in time, but, i want to ask for this in advance to avoid complications ( Hopefully i won't get punished with the score for this ? )

Ms. marvel is my foe in the arena and Trixie is our judge.

Okor v Weiss has concluded! Anxiously awaiting a judgement!

*feels weird* I haven't scored anything yet?

Also, I feel compelled to say that I was not the judge who graded Tart's fight, and I don't think that I personally score higher than anyone else (Cause I haven't even graded my first fight yet </3), nor do I feel I would give anyone a biased score. If I feel like someone did a nice job in one category, I'll say as such by grading it correctly.

Aww, I hope you get better! It's nice to hear you're still gonna pump out the post I've been waiting for, though x)

And I hold no wishes for Sinbad to penalize you, especially since your reasoning was technically unavoidable.

Seriously though, you had me worrying my ass off, man.

Re: Colosseum Tournament - Red - 10-17-2015

As a heads up, if you want the fight to remain even, you would also have to miss a post deadline so that your penalties cancel out.

Re: Colosseum Tournament - Ruby Rose - 10-17-2015

I don't exactly wanna miss out on my final post, but nor do I wanna have an advantage over Wakka...

I think I might leave that for Wakka's input

Re: Colosseum Tournament - Schwi Dola - 10-17-2015

Its unfair pressure to mention to begin with. We all have RL, sometimes its unfortunate but its how the ball rolls.

Re: Colosseum Tournament - Weiss Schnee - 10-18-2015

erm, not really disputing my score, and not that it matters, but:

Quote: which was the very infrequent misplaced comma.
Doesn't that fall under the oxford comma situation, where it's technically acceptable depending on context to put a comma before a connecting word?
It's a very minor complaint and even if it somehow affected my score wouldn't affect the win, but did feel it was worth bringing up, as to my knowledge it's not improper grammar.

Sentence in question:
Quote:Under ordinary circumstances she might have grunted at the pain of it, but compared to the agony that left her in hurried gasps of pain too weak to be called screams she didn't notice.
To my knowledge as the sentence requires it is grammatically permissible to put a comma alongside a connecting word.
