Re: Day One: Part 1 - Doomguy - 05-27-2015 So much for fucking sleep. You would think that when you signed the paper with the fine print, that you already gave consent. That they don't need to fill the room you're in with sleep gas, drag your unresponsive body into a helicopter and then throw you out from several feet off the ground with a bag full of meager supplies and the hatred to kill everyone within two square miles. Left to survive and kill for the amusement of others. That probably would have happened if my helmet wasn’t designed to hermetically seal in a hostile atmosphere. Being a light sleeper also helped when the unaware guard walked in, assumed that I was out like the others had been, and the shotgun I slept with at my side didn't need to be loaded to make people think it was. There was a brief moment of awkward silence before finally one of them managed to muster enough balls to tell me that the event has officially started, and i was to leave most of my weapons and follow them to the transport. With their guns still pointed at me. I left the room, absentmindedly rubbed the visor of my helmet as I wanted to get the sand out of my eyes, and headed to the transport that would lead me down to the island and to the battlefield. The guards did not fallow, as they were too busy with broken bones and bloodied faces. And new jobs, once they healed. Once in the darkened transport and towards the arena that new fates will be born from, I sat on the bench once meant to seat five soldiers each and lead them into death and fire. Now it was just me, as my guards were probably still clutched in pain at this time. A lack of a window to the outside not just kept me from any hint as to my location or the location of the others. Which was the point, obviously. Left without intel or a supply line, dropped behind enemy lines with a superior enemy. This left like my job. I guess that's what made me perfect for such a mission. Once the door was opened (remotely, by the pilot. If there was a pilot), I looked to see the landing zone. A wide clearing, immaculately trimmed, clearly cleaned and preserved by human hands rather than naturally formed. Or rather made to look like that, I remembered. Even the trees were placed with humans in mind, twisted paths snaked through them so that large groups of people, such as a happy family, could stroll through them side by side of one another. it would be the kind of place I would loath to be dropped into. Not enough cover, to easy to be spotted from the tree lines. But I didn't have a choice. I threw the bag out first, let it drop down the fifteen or so feet until it splat on the ground, and I followed after it soon after. I would say welcome to Hell; but, you know. What did I have left, other than my armor and the will to survive? My two biggest weapons, the contents of the bag and the bag itself were what I had to count on. I squatted down to keep myself low to the ground, and watched every direction as I pulled the zipper. It seemed so unlikely that they would put everyone close together, and yet I could not expect anything else. The suit that leads this blood sport wanted blood, and so did everyone that watched. And if Karl Jak said so, they would get it. Inside was four days worth of MREs, brown sealed bag with enough nutrient and calories to last you a day and none of the pesky taste to get in your way. For a moment I prayed that it would at least be the decent kind with the boxed foods and little surprises like matches and powdered drinks, and when I rattled the baggie to my surprise and joy it was. It was the small things in life that kept you from hanging yourself in your shoelaces and not having to eat a solid bar or a paste of nutrient was certainly a small thing. Four corresponding bottles of water came next, although those were less likely to last four days than the MREs. A low grade map of the island with a magnet market for "you are here" and a compass folded up in a side pocket. Orientation training flooded back to me, and I stowed the rations and equipment in empty ammo pouches. the last thing was strange, definitely not military standard issue, but it was close enough to what I've had to use before that there would be little problem to use it. Looked a bit silly, though. I bolted for the trees once I had my situation figured, the pieces of a plan formed into something at least somewhat coherent: Wait the first day out in a defensive position, let the other kill each other in the hopes of winning, head towards clean water, and then try to hunt down whoever's left. It was exactly how they train you in the military when you're behind enemy lines, and that it sounded fucked up to anyone not in the know would not dawn on me until long afterwards. Survive, outlast, then destroy your enemy. Just like how they taught you. Time and boredom was the real killer here, aside from the fifty some primes that stalked around me that thirsted for my metaphorical blood. Boredom softened the mind and made real dangers unreal, while time made fleeting thoughts of unreal dangers seem as real as the plasma rifle in my hands. Paranoia had kept me alive for a long time, but when the doldrums of camp settled in then it came with wild enemies far greater than what actually was there. I was equally sure that a prime, some beast, or even the demons I faced who waited until I was valuable, were just behind the bush I used as cover, and that I was being over dramatic. The only thing I had for company other than the weapons that I laid so close was the muted sounds of nocturnal nature and the much more obnoxious voice of Karl above us on invisible speaker. The jackass liked to hear himself speak that was sure. The little camp was no more than the shadow of a young maple, a long and leafy branch over my head and a semi circle of chokeberries kept any lazy glances away. I had opened a bag of “chilli con carne”, spilt the content, and was already cooking the entrée with some of the water from my bottle and the heater, while I snacked on the fiber crackers, energy bars, and what was called french toast but I was half sure was a bar of soap. No point in trying to ration these, as the promise of combat meant that being at top performance outweighed the hope that I wouldn’t need to be at full strength. Four days would be enough, at least until I was either dead or managed to take the supplies from the corpse of someone else. Time for the long haul. And if I was alive by the next midnight, then God have mercy on everyone still here. Fear and the Un-armed - Gildarts - 05-27-2015 Even after his short nap, Gildarts felt as though he had walked for miles, he had traveled far in his part of the island and yet had not encountered the two girls he was searching for. In fact, he hadn't encountered anyone. He didn't necessarily consider this 'luck,' but if he didn't get a glimpse of the competition soon, his poise for battle would start to drown from a lack of adrenaline. By this time, the man's nausea had receded from his mind and he was picking the bones from his teeth. For the most part, he had thrived in this newly arrived area, but after seeing that he had no string to fish with, he had opted to create a spear. With a braced broken limb set against a durable rock, the man had slowly but surely chafed and etched away the thick bark. The tip of his spear had been nearly sharpened to that of a flimsy and dangerous point, yet as he carved the finishing touches, his stomach grumbled in complaint of the rigorous exertion. Ironically enough, the survivalist had no idea that he had a spare store of food right under his shoulder the entire time. Once oblivious, always oblivious; luckily this fault never showed in his fierce battle technique. In all honesty, the magic-less mage reflected as he looked at his calloused hands, seemingly engraved just as deep as the stripped bark he had created, It's nice getting a vacation, if I think about it, I'm on an island far away from the world and when I was young, my wish to be rid of both the guilt and the crash magic that plagued me for so long has finally been granted... His stomach was full as his mind rattled with the paradox he was living. Survival was evolution, so he had to adapt to the changes and surpass them, even if he didn't agree with his current powerless situation. While it had taken some brute strength and a little handy-work to create, he now gazed at the results before him. A durable stick held by his carpenter palms -well, palm- and the double-edged reward that came with it. The searing red and burning blisters he felt in his sore carpals was soothed as he dipped his hand into the icy water and with the glistening splash of the gentle current, wiped his wounds clean. The garment he wore for shorts were weighted due to his entirely sopping wet clothing. Movement was slow, even in the fluttering water. Gildarts was far from a pro when it came to throwing things at fish he could barely see, but the way he figured it, there wasn't much of a difference from the weapon he had once wielded. His aim was one good thing that he had retained on the island, even if his reinforcing brawn seemed to have derailed slightly thanks to his nifty silver choker. I can rough it on this island, but my only complaint now is that it needs more women. What was this he felt in his chest? It was tasteless, void, and unfulfilling. He had nothing to prove. He physically ached now that his purpose had been reduced to ash. This was supposed to be a battle to the death, but he couldn't fight on an empty stomach either. Was his break justified? Suddenly, he paused with his heart heavier than it had ever been. It vaguely dawned on him that he couldn't compete to be the best anymore -no, he wasn't the best anymore. Armless? Legless? He could made it work, but did he now have what it took to survive this trying ordeal? Disadvantages filled his glass to the brim. While his prosthetic limbs weren't as flexible now, they still functioned all the same with the nimble flow of his movement. Against those stronger than he, what did he have to show against them? The threatening Cindy, the relatable Jon, both playing the game and at the same time winning the fight against themselves. Gildarts craved battle, yet something was holding him back. A limit he had unknowingly set upon himself. Was this champion fighter just as destructive without his magic? Was he somehow at even more of an advantage because of his increased perceptiveness? The Abyss tested the veteran's mental fortitude with the hauntings of solitude for now, but he couldn't shake the feeling the onset of danger was coming. Karl's wrath. The devious game master had announced something on the speakers but it had been muffled mostly by the wind. The threatening crackle had a sickeningly insidious intent, and Gildarts wasn't playing the game. The creator's crosshairs were sure to be upon him... The remains of the singular and scrawny fish he had managed to spear -with quite some effort- were left in the swirling pool below him. The sun began to stretch into the sky and in its rising angle, his shorts had been set out to dry. The vulnerability he felt was now holding him back and after his meager feast, his mind had moved a distance away from his stomach. An endless bombardment of skeptical thought pounded in his head and rocked his sturdy conscience as he thoroughly deliberated all that was needed of him to live through this struggle. "What exactly is it I am so afraid of?" His skin turned to ice, a gusting shiver jolted through his body with the piercing force of an unwanted revelation; it proved to be fiercer than lightning and more treacherous than fire. The answer was unspoken, but rang in his mind louder than any volume he could have shouted. What if they are already dead? Re: Day One: Part 1 - Guu - 05-27-2015 Guu waited until the sun had fully risen and had made quite a bit good progress in the sky. When she started to feel the air get warmer, she turned over to nudge Desco lightly. She blinked awake, looking dazedly up at the pink haired one. “Good morning.” She said in an almost uncharacteristically pleasant tone. ”Is it morning already?” The demon child asked, yawning a bit before looking up to the blue sky above. “Yep it is.” The pink princess responded. She moved in an gave her a hug. Desco smiled at the physical contact. “Now go get ready for the day, I’ll go wake Luffy” She slid off Yogs and onto her feet. As the demon child shifted her demon appendage to look more to it’s usual appearance and scrounge through her bag for some breakfast, Guu strutted over to Luffy. She places both hands gently on his shoulders… and then shakes him violently. He stutters awake. “Ah! What? What’s going on? What did I do Nami?” Asked straw hat. Guu glared down at him. ”It’s time to wake up. It’s already sun up lazy ass.” “Oh! For a second I thought you were Nami!” ”Who is… who else could I possibly look like?” “No no no, not look like! Just the way you woke me up reminded me of her.” A brief pause as Guu came to terms with the pointless of this conversation. She launched an arm forward and wrapped it around him, lifting him up to his feet. “Woah ho-ho! That’s definitely something Nami couldn’t do!” Luffy stated while laughing his ass off. Guu sighed. She used to make stupid people like straw hat suffer as a personal hobby, but now she invites him along as a valued ally. She must really be getting soft. Then again, considering her time in Ambrosia and that tender scene earlier with Desco, it was becoming less and less of a shock to her. The three prepare some breakfast. Guu, using the skills that Desco granted her from the night before to properly prepare a meal. This time, it was mac and cheese. It was a bit runny and the cheese was a little off, but after the sausage from yesterday, she had become far less picky. This was at least palatable in comparison. Not to mention, the fact that it was runny really helped as she had no utensils and was forced to chug it like a shot glass. Luffy however, was down to the Hershey bar included in his last MRE. ”I thought we told you to converve.” Guu said irritated. “I dunno, I was still hungry last night! What was I to do?” He said, shrugging. She glared at him for a moment before pulling her attention to the general group. ”We’ll have to do something about our food situation. We’ll either have to go hunting or steal some from the other players.” “I don’t care how, I just want some meat!” “Meat! Yay!” Desco rang out. Guu shook her head as she pulled out the map, sprawling it out on a rock. ”Ok, so we need to be strategic with where we should go next. In my honest opinion, I believe we should head for-” ”I say we go there!” She said pointing on what seemed to be a random location on the map. “What? No, Desco, we need to plan this out. It’s about taking the best route that will lead to our survi-” “I second Purple’s notion!” Yelled Luffy. “What are you… what kind of nickname is… how are you so… You know what? Let’s do it. When in Rome I guess.” Guu lead the pack, compass in hand with the map within reach in her pack. Luffy and Desco are side-by-side, arms locked. Luffy was skipping merrily, while Desco was pretending to skip while floating up and down. Guu face palmed with a dismembered hand. And the three wander off in the greater expanse, unknown where their adventures will take them. Re: Day One: Part 1 - Illidan Stormrage - 05-27-2015 Link and Ganondorf hobbled away from the last battle, having gained nothing in the process except more wounds. Link's skin around his arms and chest burned and stung faintly, like flaming bees had jabbed him some time ago. The real pain came from the dislocated shoulder. He could move it, but by the goddesses did it hurt. Luckily his metal cylinder that fired death pellets only needed one hand to use, even if it was harder. Ganondorf wasn't in fantastic shape, either. Fighting Samus earlier left him with a stab wound in his shoulder. Although likely not restrictive as Link's shoulder injury, it no doubt affected the mobility in that limb too. Three fights in such a short time had also sapped Link's strength too. He stopped walking, and Ganondorf followed suit when his companion's boots no longer shuffled over the ground. "I need to eat," Link said. Ganondorf nodded, a stern expression on his face, and they sat. Link felt no self pity, no hatred at his forced decisions as they ate their food in the quiet of the dawn. Sunlight gripped the horizon, paling the sky and scaring away the stars. All he felt as he mechanically chewed and swallowed, eyes drooping, was numbness. He hardly felt like he was even there; just a wandering husk, locked into a pre-programmed route. When he pulled the trigger on his death pellet tube, he didn't really care what happened. He fought as hard as he could, of course, but ultimately the outcome just didn't matter to him. Is this what it feels like to ... give up? Link looked at Ganondorf. He gazed into the distance, jaw rotating back and forth. Link couldn't even summon the intrinsic prejudice he felt for the Gerudo at every other waking moment of his life. He just stared, thoughts fuzzy and muddled, unsure what to do next. Ganondorf noticed the Hylian's empty stare and stopped mid chew. "What?" Inspiration struck. "How do you do it?" he asked with more vigour than he felt. "How can you just ... kill things and not care? Why are you so cold?" Ganondorf's eyes sharpened. "Not finding this to your liking?" Link broke the gaze and looked into the distance. "I don't know what's going on, Ganondorf." A part of Link told him this was stupid, that spilling his innermost thoughts to his nemesis was unbelievably foolish and dangerous, but the numb part of him couldn't muster the effort to care. "I'm supposed to be a hero. I saved Hyrule from you, and now look at me. Some morally bankrupt killer for a stupid competition, all so I can have a chance to get out of this thing alive. The Master Sword's gone, the -" He stopped, having at least enough sense to not mention the Triforce piece. " ... the rest of my equipment's gone, and my only ally in this whole ugly mess is you." Link looked at Ganondorf again, eyes crusted into an almost permanent frown, and waited a response. The Gerudo king locked eyes with him, his stare questioning and reflective at the same time. "Not to mention," the Hylian knight added, "that the Master Sword is in the possession of someone else." He tched. "Samus." He recalled little about her, small tidbits during the Rathalos hunt, but she was obviously as deadly as she ever was. But why couldn't Link lift the Master Sword from the dirt once she dropped it? Had he lost the favour of the goddesses, like he truly feared? Yet if that was true, how had he summoned a light arrow, the very essence of the goddesses themselves? The Gerudo King sat a moment in contemplation, yellow eyes continuing to scour into Link's soul. "How do I do it?" he asked, a faint smile on his face. "The simple answer is, I don't. You might see me as some monster, boy, but the truth is that I am a man, the same as you. I do care when I take a life, it's a feeling which never gets easier." Ganondorf's face grew a bit harder, if that was possible, and he leaned in towards his companion. "But I know when a sacrifice must be made for the greater good, Link. Even in Hyrule, when I killed, I did so for a purpose. You might not have agreed with that purpose, but to me it was enough to commit the atrocities I did." Oh goddesses. Was it wrong that Link found some semblance of logic in that? Not about the part about conquering Hyrule, but doing what has to be done 'for the greater good.' Indeed, wasn't that what Link committed himself to here, as unsavoury as it was? Could the right decision mean that there were parts of it that were off-colour, simply because there was no other choice? Was the world not so black and white as Link thought? The Dark Lord's smile returned, and he placed a meaty hand upon his long-time enemy's shoulder. "But... I don't think such a mindset suits you, boy. Keep your morals. Keep your innocence. This is why we needed each other in this competition. I, to make those hard decisions, and you, to keep us from falling into complete darkness." Link fought back a smirk and won, thankfully. Imagine giving Ganondorf the satisfaction of smiling at advice from the tyrant. Yet still, the Hylian noted a warm swell in his chest. A trickle of himself splashed back into his soul. That the Gerudo king would find worth in his diametric opposite was heartening. And his words really struck a chord. Link didn't have to abandon himself completely in this endeavour. Yes, he would commit acts he found bitter and unpleasant, but it didn't mean he couldn't be a hero. At least, as long as he killed Ganondorf when the opportunity finally presented itself. Instead of the smirk, Link nodded, and he felt his stern scowl release. "Maybe there's hope for us yet." Ganondorf chuckled. This time, the sound didn't chill Link's blood. #38 Desco, #23 Guu & #37 Luffy vs #28 Mami Tomoe Unfortunately for Mami Tomoe, ‘that way’ was the worst way she could have selected. The young woman had enjoyed the sunrise, but as she made her way through the trees toward her next destination, she never expected to wander into a clearing and find herself standing just a few yards away from a trio of primes decked out with energy swords and clad in the severed limbs of a former opponent. “Hey, Mami…” Desco said. The tone of the Final Boss was a little deflated as the trio eyed the blonde. “Afternoon,” Mami mumbled as she clutched her hand around her ‘weapon.’ The plastic spork brought little comfort to her as Luffy and Desco activated their lightsabers. “Just know that I won’t take this personally,” the woman replied as she felt a wave of power wash over her body. Knowing that she just had one chance at this, Mami sprung forward and swung the spork as if it were a massive broadsword. With a swift motion, Guu intercepted the blow with her shield and managed to deflect it. As Mami stumbled, she jumped as a lightsaber slashed at the ground where she had stood. Landing behind Luffy, Mami jabbed the rubber pirate in the back with the spork. The business end of the utensil snapped off, but the jagged plastic spike that remained pierced through the pirate’s skin, causing him to yelp as if he’d just sat on a thumbtack. With the hope that she’d found an opening, Mami spun around and made for the trees. The blonde got a few feet between herself and the trio when the shield smashed into the back of her skull. A beat later, she crashed into a tree as the wound immediately began to dribble blood. Grasping at her blood-soaked hair, Mami made it to her feet and turned around to see Luffy glaring at her. The pirate’s arm was stretched out behind him, and as he charged at the woman, the limb seemed to burst into flames. A token resistance was attempted, but it amounted to nothing as Luffy swung his flaming limb up into Mami’s gut, shattering her ribs as a blast of fire erupted from behind her. Much to the rubber man’s amusement, the attack threw the woman up into the air and over the trees. Victor noticed a rocky outcrop, the rocks hid it from view from the rest of the island and thus made it a good place to rest and take inventory of the supplies he had been given, sitting down, and making sure that he could not be seen from a distance he opened the bag. The first item was a compass, being able to judge direction would be incredibly useful and would prevent him from getting confused if the terrain looks similar, and when used in conjunction with the map would make it much more easy to navigate. He looked over the map and quickly noticed where he thought he must be, "That looks exactly like the features I just passed, perhaps we should head here next?" Wolfe pointed at the map. " I doubt too many people will stay in this area, that allows me to try and avoid the danger, at least for the early game." Victor put the map back into the bag and attached the compass to his belt, never know when he will need to confirm his direction. He also noticed the other contents of the bag, four trays of what looked to be his meals for this survival game, not as much of a need to fish then ,Victors stomach rumbled, reminding him that he had not eaten since he came to this land, he was starving. Ripping open the MRE package like a rabid beast he scoffed down the meaty contents inside, he recognised the flavour immediately as beef stew, a common dish from his homeland. Although not the highest quality meal Wolfe had ever eaten thanks to the hunger that had built up, it was one of the best he had ever had. He downed one of the bottles of water with a satisfied sigh. " Never again do we go that long without food again" Victor though. He put the empty packaging back into the bag so as not to leave any signs that he was here. Victor got up from his secluded position in the rocks and once he was sure no one was watching he continued on his path, hoping to survive for a bit longer, This island was nice and as an assassin he never got much time to just walk around and enjoy the scenery Re: Day One: Part 1 - Ganondorf - 05-27-2015 As Link returned to his meal, Ganondorf found himself envying the boy. With just a few words, the Gerudo saw life return to the Hylian. His posture straightened and a light returned to his eyes. Of course, the Demon King had merely said what would put the boy into a fighting mood once again, and while none of it was a lie, neither was it the heart-felt message of kindness that some might think it was. Ganondorf was quite skilled in manipulating people, of having them think they were in control when it was he all along. Link, for all his vaunted courage and fighting acumen, was as simple to toy with as a doll, as demonstrated by the boy’s visual signs of heightened mood. The King of Evil wished it were as easy to lighten his own mood. Over the course of just a few hours, Ganondorf had felt the heights of satisfaction, and the depths of depression. First, his fight with the strange glowing man. An easy victory, particularly since the Goddesses had smiled upon him and Link had arrived with his strange weapon. After sending the man skyward, the Gerudo had felt a rush as he’d snatched up the man’s bag and left the scene with Link. If all his encounters on this island were this easy, he’d have no trouble taking the top position. Unfortunately, his next battle had erased that delusion quite thoroughly. Ganondorf remembered the armor-clad woman well, from both his arrival in the Omniverse, and the struggle against the dragons in Camelot. She was skilled with her gun, but this time she had proved equally capable with a blade. Even in his ultimate form, Ganon, she had survived, and Link’s bomb-throwing device didn’t seem to be able to stop her either. Still, such a beating was a lesson more than a defeat, one which Ganondorf had resolved to put to use when Karl Jak’s announcement had come over the island. The Gerudo had thought back to what he had been given, the item still stowed in his bag. He was still unsure as to what he was meant to do with the item, and their host’s offer had been enticing. What a fool he was. The whole thing was a catastrophe. Neither himself, nor Link, were able to gain hold of the prize for more than a brief moment. Additionally, they had both received more injuries trying to lay claim to it. And to Ganondorf, their failure hurt far worse than even the fiery pain left in his shoulder from Link’s sword. Though, he supposed, it was really Samus’ blade… at least for now. Finishing a few last bites of the dry, nearly inedible meat that had been provided with him, Ganondorf did find himself grateful over a couple of things. Firstly, that they had been able to take that man’s bag, and with it two more days of food for each of himself and Link. And secondly, that he had a companion to work with. Despite his and Link’s differences, their shared experiences in Hyrule had actually brought them together here. So, though his body ached and burned with bruises and cuts and every movement of his arm sent another shock of pain through his body, Ganondorf rose to his feet and looked to Link. “Come, boy. We need to be going.” “Where to?” Link asked, readying himself to leave. “We’re going to track down your sword.” And with those words, the Hylian smiled. Oh, he tried to hide it. Ganondorf could read his foe like a book, just as he was able to back in Hyrule. Strangely, his own return smile was far less forced than it used to be. Each nodded to the other, a purpose setting their path, and they moved off. Re: Day One: Part 1 - Karl Jak - 05-27-2015 Face to Face
#36 Carn_Val vs #19 Ganondorf & #18 Link Carn_Val thought he was concealed as he crouched in the bushes. Unfortunately for the anomaly, the two figures in the vicinity were far more adept at detection than he was at hiding. The first rocket hit the tree a few feet below Carn, causing him to grind his teeth to suppress a shout as he tumbled to the ground. Ever nimble, Carn managed to land on his feet and turned to see the man in a green tunic sizing him up for another shot. The anomaly grabbed for his bag and was trying to grab something from it when a second missile blew apart the ground in front of him. The force threw Carn from his bag and against another tree, which groaned but held up when he smacked into it. “Not fair,” the anomaly muttered as he stood up off the ground and looked back at Link. He was about to rush the Hylian when he caught movement to his right. Turning, Carn’s eyes went wide as Ganon’s fist slammed into his face. Although he had no nose to have broken, the impact loosened some of the anomaly’s precious teeth as he hit the ground. Before he could lash out at Ganondorf, a third rocket found its mark. Due to his proximity to Carn, Ganondorf had to throw himself backwards to avoid being caught in the blast. When the Gerudo regained his senses, he looked over to see that the small crater was lacking a black corpse. “I’m getting sick of them slipping away from us,” he muttered as he looked over at Link, who was now holding two bags. “At least we weren’t stabbed this time.” Far away from the two, Carn limped away from the scene of the fight. Looking up at the sky, the anomaly flashed a grin to whoever was watching. Although said grin was bloody and missing three teeth, the black-skinned prime had survived mostly intact. A hunter and a survivor, he didn't need the goods in the bag to sustain himself.
Carn_Val has a broken leg and a broken arm -- 2 major injuries (+12 Damage) Link has Carn_Val's supplies and weapon
Re: Day One: Part 1 - Samus Aran - 05-27-2015 Samus didn’t stop running, even when the Light Arrow pierced her shoulder. She didn’t know how, exactly, she kept running. Perhaps the power of this verse kept one alive longer. Perhaps it was some emergency function of the suit, or some survival instinct of the Metroid genes finding their way into her consciousness. She just kept running. Even after the sounds of her foes had long since faded into the distance, she kept running. At the edge of her senses, the pain began to intensify. As she stopped, it hit her all once, bringing her to her knees and then to her side. She lay there, damp with blood and sweat, staring at the grass and taking long, ragged breaths. She touched the bone still embedded into her abdomen and screamed. Was it better to leave it in or take it out? Perhaps if she had a medkit, some anti-septic, something to wrap it with. She clutched at the sword, still somehow in her left hand. Stained with blood. The moment she’d seen the boy, she remembered where she’d seen the sword before. In that fight with Ganondorf, during the Battle of the Rathalos. Now they were allied? What sweet sickness. Perhaps that was why the sword had rejected him. She gazed at its light and felt something like intelligence shine from its depths. It hurt, just like she did. They were allies now. She took the sword and used it to lever herself upwards. Her feet were numb. She glanced around to make sure nobody had heard her before stepping onwards. There was nothing for it. Following the road forward, she prayed for luck. Re: Day One: Part 1 - Tartaros - 05-27-2015 Tartaros trudged through the darkness of the forest, angrily swatting aside branch after branch with the sharpened and bloodied chunk of driftwood crudely strapped to the half-cauterized remains of his right arm. The pain really didn't bother him anymore... anger makes a great distraction, after all... "That fight was a damned embarrassment...", the marine thought to himself, How in the hell they notice me?!, but it didn't matter now... only one thing really did at this point, not dying, and Tartaros would be damned before he keeled over to some three-foot child with a fancy chunk of metal. After another few hours of marching in the twilight the marine finally came across a small cave, well, more of a dirt hovel, sheltered by a toppled tree trunk. Finding a useful shelter for what was left for of the night, the marine crawled into the squalid dwelling. It was dark and damp, far to damp to even attempt making a fire, but at the very least it was something... Finally crawling his way onto the cold stone floor, however, a ruffling inside his bag was heard... then a whisper... Hello dearie The hairs on the Luna Wolf's neck stood up as he turned to his left, seeing a pile of much and some... grayish, tiny thing crawling on the floor... "Hrm?" The small figure crawled closer along the dampened floor, finally coming into proper view as... a muddy piece of fabric. Surely Tartaros was going hallucinating or something... "Well, now I got your attention, guess what?! Those Syntex guys stuck you with me, you lucky duck you..." "You're... that sock?..., the marine muttered, stunned at the sight of a talking chunk of cotton. "Right. On. The. Money! Mister Tureaud Sockpuppet, at your service!, the "sock" made a mocking bow, at least as far as a piece of fabric can. "Now then, you've got yourself in right a pickle, haven't you? Getting your ass handed to you by such a fool and his... little friends...", the being said in a mocking tone. "S-Silence...", Tartaros said, in a slight wavering tone. "Ah... I see they wounded your pride far more than your arm, eh?" With that, the marine smacked the driftwood plank against the sock, causing a small piece to splinter back onto his ceramite plating. "Ha... Mister, don't even bother, it's not like you can harm me... Anyways, get yourself some rest, Mister Handy, you're going to need it..." Sighing deeply in disbelief and tiredness, the Luna Wolf propped his damaged arm against the stone floor and rested against his head against the muddied wall, while the strip of fabric crawled back into the bag, both resting for the long days to come. Re: Day One: Part 1 - Guu - 05-27-2015 As Mami flew into the distance, Guu turned to Desco. “I’m sorry we attacked your friend. She said, respectfully. ”It’s all good.” “Wait, really?” ”I didn't know her all that well anyways! Plus anyways, it's all for fun!” She said in a cheerful tone. Guu responded to the demon child’s casual attitude to murder with shivers. However, it was a harsh reminder that eventually she'll have to fight and kill Desco herself. She didn’t look forward to that day. Oh well, at least she's mostly certain her friend won't take it too personally. Luffy saunters over to the group. “Haha, I can’t believe she attacked me with a fork!” He yelled. “A spork actually, which is far worse combat-wise.” She said. Suddenly, she stretched her arms out and pulled him down, forcing him to sit on a log. ”Now let me take a look at that wound for you.” She yanked out what little of the spork still remained, causing Luffy to jump a little. “Yow!” She inspected the wound. It didn’t look too serious; just some minor punctures in the skin. Can’t imagine it feeling too great though. She spun around him to look him in the eyes. “Doesn’t look too serious. I’ll probably be fine.” She said, but her eyes widened as she saw the cut on his leg. She morphed a finger and pointed at it. “When did you get that?” “That’s from the armored guy! You know!” He said, lifting up the disembodied hand, which was now making a peace sign. She inspected the wound closely. “Hmmm… may need to be covered. She said. She rubbed her chin to think. ”…but with what…” After a few seconds thought, she raised a fresh-formed hand to signal “one second” to her patient. She leapt up and disappeared into the brush. A few minutes pass and she comes back out looking exactly the same, except she’s now holding in her arms a second set of the same outfit she’s currently wearing. She starts ripping into the pink skirt, tearing off long strands. Pulling out a bottle of water, she trickles a little bit on the wound to clean it, and then ties it down tight with one of the lines. All through the process, she seemed uncharacteristically shaken for some reason. As soon as the piece of skirt was tightly tied over the wound, she stuffed the rest of the second outfit into her bag. ”You’re all set.” She said plainly. “Wow Bubblegum! Thanks!” She stretched out a hand 5 feet in the air, Guu stretches hers out in tandem and gives him a high five. “Though, it’s amazing you had more clothes on you!” “Yeah…” She wasn’t quite sure what the clothing on her back was actually made of; she tried not to think about it. All she knew now is that despite still being covered, she still felt incredibly exposed. It was a sensation she would have to get used to. Quote:From this point forward, Guu’s skirt and scarf are both products of her shapeshifting. If she takes major hits, her clothing will glitch; as in randomly changing colors and the like. #10 Alain vs #09 Samus Aran & #20 Harry Dresden Alain Velgr had fared quite well in the Abyss. Sure, he had some nicks here and a little soreness in his muscles, but he’d managed to avoid being murder-killed, and he’d dished out his fair share of pain to his adversaries. With some more luck, who’s to say he would outlive the other primes on the island? If the skirmish over the hammer was evidence for anything, it was that they were all more than willing to slaughter each other with little regard for their health. Up ahead, Alain heard the sound of rushing water. With a smile, he jogged forward until he got close enough to see the armored figure hunched near the edge of the river. From the look of things, the woman had taken some serious blows… enough so that she had removed parts of her outfit to splash water on what seemed to be some rather widespread bruises and scrapes. On the shore next to the woman, an almost beautiful looking sword was resting on some rocks. The blade glittered in the dawn sun. It would make a perfect addition to Alain’s arsenal. “Do some magic,” the mercenary whispered as he pulled up the ball and chucked it at the ground near the woman. The sphere cracked open, and after a flash of light, a rather large caterpillar appeared next to Samus, who glanced over at the creature. After a long and uncomfortable pause, the bounty hunter reached out and patted the Caterpie on the head. The Pokémon let out a strange little purr noise before resting its head on the damp soil next to the river and leaving Samus to glance over her shoulder at the mercenary. “Cute pet,” she muttered as her shoulder pads popped up to reveal a set of missile racks. Alain let out a curse and backflipped as the missiles started to explode around him. Even as fresh strength flooded through his veins, one of the explosions found its mark, blasting apart a part of his leg and leaving him open to the remaining members of the rocket-propelled salvo. Suppressing the agony, the mercenary scrambled to his feet and reached for the first thing he spotted—a rock. Alain grunted and hurtled the stone at the armored woman as she came sprinting at him. Like the trained professional that she was, Samus smacked the improvised projectile out of the air and swung the Master Sword down onto the mercenary’s shoulder. The blade cleaved through flesh and muscle before coming to a stop half-way through Alain’s humerus. Fueled by adrenaline and corruption, the mercenary jolted up and bashed his skull against Samus’ jaw. The woman, shocked more than anything, lost her grip on the sword, which went with Alain as he shoved her with a shoulder and ran for the hills. The mercenary made it five paces before the man in the duster emerged on the dirt path in front of him. Harry Dresden was grinning from one ear to the other, and in his hands was a massive gun that had no right existing in the first place. Alain swore beneath his breath as the BFG hummed to life in Harry’s hands. Harry winked. “AND I’M ALL OUT BUBBLEGUM.” The BFG roared as it released a beach-ball sized blast of green plasma. Alain, knowing that he was staring at oblivion, did the reasonable thing. He wrenched the Master Sword from his shoulder and threw it at Harry as the plasma ball hit his chest and erupted. As Samus watched, the mercenary left a bloody cloud in his wake as he was thrown through the air and into the river. Turning her attention back to Harry, she found herself almost smiling for the first time since her arrival on the island, despite the fact that the wizard was clutching a fresh wound on his shoulder. “He’s got a pretty good throwing arm,” Harry muttered as Samus walked over to make sure he hadn’t been cut too deep. As two old friends proceeded to get caught up on the last eight hours, a charred body washed up on the side of the river further downstream. With a weak gasp, Alain Velgr crawled from the water.
Alain rolled a '1' Alain has used Tier 1 Transformation Sanguine (-1 SP) Samus Aran has used Tier 1 Super Move Missile storm (-2 SP) Harry has a cut on his shoulder – Minor Injury (+2 Damage) Alain has his right arm almost cut off... it will be borderline useless for the remainder of the competition. His (right) lung is collapsed, and his clothes are melted onto his flesh, which is covered in third degree burns – Insane Injury and Major Injury (+16 Damage) Alain's bag (but not his Weapon) are there for Samus and Harry
Re: Day One: Part 1 - Gin Yatreg - 05-27-2015 Gin finally found a safe place to rest, his body aching already despite the fact that it wasn't even NOON. "Hopefully this place doesn't turn into a danger zone too. If it does, I'm gonna start thinking someone enjoys toying with me." he said to himself. Gin sat down against a tree, putting his bag behind his head as a makeshift pillow. Some sleep would do him good, well, hopefully anyway. Gin closed his eyes and listened to the ocean waves crash against the shore. The sound was relaxing to him, and soon he drifted off. Re: Day One: Part 1 - Darth Vader - 05-27-2015 Jon's former plans and routes had been completely turned upside-down from a chance second-meeting with Gilgamesh. By pure coincidence, and perhaps with a stroke of luck, Snow had stumbled upon the King of the Dunes whilst on his own trek to Dante Town. Unsuprisingly, the King greeted him with a passive and rather neutral demeanour. Jon did swear his allegiance and temporary fealty to the sand-king back in the Barracks, after all. Indeed, Gilgamesh had uses for him, and Jon Snow was just about alright with being used. Being a leader amongst men in his own world, Jon had to learn how to follow before he could learn how to lead. Even if Jon didn't entirely trust this Gilgamesh to be a good king or even a good man, prolonging his demise for as much time as he could was his main goal right now. Jon Snow wasn't a man to fear death; he'd stopped dreading the very thought of it so long ago. But he wasn't ready to die just yet. Not like this. Not now. "Yo, Snow! Quit with the dramatic monologue and start hauling ass a little!" Jon grunted quietly, glaring towards the small, plush pouch that hung at the Kings hip. Unfortunately, King Gilgamesh wasn't so lucky when it came down to the weapon he received during his transportation. Where Jon had been granted a weapon he was vastly familiar with and comfortable using, the King of the Dunes had been given... a toy? It looked to be some kind of horse, though it was weaved together with a soft cotton and smooth fabric. What was even weirder to the bastard was the magic property it held to somehow speak... and for a simple toy, it seemed to know quite a few things. It gave Jon a strange kind of vibe. Gilgamesh was quite a few steps ahead of him already, and Jon would have been more than able to keep up to his pace if he wasn't carrying a dark-haired woman on his arm. The woman's leg was quite clearly broken, so she couldn't walk naturally without support. She'd refused Snow's assistance at first, stating she could walk just fine on her own, but a few agonising tumbles-over later and she gave in, allowing Jon to carrying her slightly in her stride. "Ughh..." the woman groaned, wincing and creasing with pain. Even with Jon's help, it still hurt her to walk. The bastard glanced over to her briefly, inhaling sharply as he looked back in front to Gilgamesh, who was still leading the group in a slow march. "Your grace..." Jon called out after him. The sand-king arched his head slightly to look back at his servant and the woman who latched onto him, looking at them in silence. "We must stop. The lady needs a rest." The King sneered faintly. He didn't wish to have to allow it, but he also knew that denying the request for a break would only bring him Jon's disdain and disapproval. Lips curling outward, Gilgamesh gave a silent nod of allowance as Jon returned a thankful gaze, before crouching down carefully to set the woman down in a comfortable sitting position. "I'm fine.." the raven-headed woman huffed, waving Jon off slightly. "Let's kee- "No" Jon cut her off almost instantaneously. "You're not fine. You're in pain" Snow protested. And she must have known he was only speaking truth, how could she be so arrogant and blind to it? She looked as though she were battered and bruised all over, and she couldn't take a single step forward without slipping forward onto her front and screaming out in agony. Did she not feel it herself? Jon just didn't understand. Perhaps it was just plain stubbornness, on her part. "I'll live..." the woman continued to argue. Jon shook his head faintly. "Not if we don't stop, you won't." The young lady fell deathly silent, after that. She simply had nothing she could say at the back of her mind to counter it. "So then... my knight in shining armour" the girl decided to break the quiet after a momentary silence settled in. "What is your name?" Jon glanced away for a few brief moments before responding to her. "Jon Snow" he uttered. King Gilgamesh still waited patiently ahead, he as well as the pony having fell rather quiet. His arms were folded across his chest, and he took occasional long stares back at his two followers, clearly itching to get on. "Hrmmph... Snow..." she let the name roll on the edge of her tongue for a few moments, hugging her arms around her carefully. Jon stared down at her with his head slightly arched as she took a deep breath inward, as if to say something. "Blackfire. It'd be your highness to you, though." Jon's brow raised quite high. Your highness? I'm travelling with more supposed royalty? "Your highness...? the bastard questioned her with curiosity. "Did I happen to rescue a princess?" Jon spoke almost teasingly. A slight grin spread across his lips as he delved into a rare moment of humour. "A queen" Blackfire corrected him with a guffaw. Jon's faint smirk remained, but slowly disappeared as he craned his head to look behind him. A bright light shimmered through the dense forest trees, the sky having flared and lit up in an orange-ish hue. Sunlight. The first crack of dawn. Jon let out a short sigh of relief. They'd held out until morning, and both him and Gilgamesh stood unscathed and unharmed. That gave the bastard a silent shred on hope and resolve that he could make it through this. His willpower, heart and courage just had to stay in the right place. He turned to Gilgamesh. The King also his eyes fixated on the rising sun, the stars beam shimmering proudly from the reflection of his golden-plated armour. He still stood with a proud and noble posture, just as always. The horse toy stuffed into the sack must have drifted off into a snooze, for the faint, muffled sound of snoring was audible from the inanimate pouch shackled at the Kings side. Jon looked back down to Blackfire, opening his mouth to speak. "Are you ready to keep moving?" he inquired, blinking a few times. Blackfire glanced up at him. "Yes, yes" the Tamaranean Queen pressed her palms against the ground as she spoke, slowly trying to bring herself up to her feet on her own. "Don't bother helping me. I can do this on my own." she winced slightly as she began to steadily stand up, and very nearly fell back other if it wasn't for Jon rushing back to her aid. "Your highness..." he sighed, casting one arm over her to support her. "Let me help you. Please." Blackfire sighed deeply, closing her eyes for a few moments, before silently nodding, taking careful steps forward in rhythm with Jon's own. King Gilgamesh had caught onto Blackfire's sudden stand, for he'd walked quite a few paces further ahead of them already. Jon gulped as he slowly came to a realisation that the Kings earlier words may have been the truth; Blackfire was injured, a liability. Could she still fight like this? Jon doubted it greatly. Sooner or later, Jon knew he'd have to finish her off sooner or later, just as Gilgamesh had said. Still, Jon Snow had a silent hope that that time would come later rather than sooner. The very thought of betrayal itself made him feel sick down to his stomach. Re: Day One: Part 1 - Harry Dresden - 05-27-2015 Harry shifted the BFG to his injured arm so that he could put some pressure on the cut that Alain had dealt him as Samus retrieved the attacker's bag. "Well isn't this just our lucky day. Wonder what that thing was, and why he thought it was a good idea to throw it at you." The Pokemon's cuteness was lost on the wizard; he'd had enough of giant cutesy insects after his foray into Lea's garden. Still, it was pretty funny that the man had thought to attack them with a giant caterpillar. "So... you look pretty beat up. What happened?" Re: Day One: Part 1 - Schwi Dola - 05-27-2015 Desco felt bad that they had attacked Mami. Not so bad that she really regretted actually doing it, but sad that they had to hurt a magical girl. She had seen Mami in the preshow and watched as she moved about gracefully in her pretty dress. Desco wanted to be a magical girl sometime if she could find a way to transform into one. But at the same time, magical girls are usually Heroic, unless she could fall into a dark magical girl getup. Fortunately Guu took care of Luffy's injury, Desco felt a little useless that she didn't have her healing magic. She hasn't had that since before Omniverse, and she always felt bad when she recalled her lost powers. The group continued on past Mami aimlessly, and they came into sight of some sand and rocky outcroppings along the shore, they found the end of the island! They must be close to that mountain on the map. "Hey Look! Its water!" "Alight ha ha ha! Maybe we could build a raft and go out to sea!" They looked out to the distance as waves driffed lazily along. A quiet and peaceful location, far away from magical wizards and bounty hunters picking on poor defenses caterpillars and the guy that raised them. Desco and Guu walked up to the shoreline. "Hey Guu, lets play frisbee!" Guu looked at her Vibrainium shield, made of the toughest metal known to the Earth it was made on. It could probably be dangerous to play frisbee with it if they mis-threw it. "Sure.." Desco floated quickly away, or quickly for Desco since she moved very slowly, and then Guu lightly tossed the shield to Desco with a high throw. Desco caught it and then flung it at Guu, who used her stretching power to get around the overenthusiastic toss and grab its handle, spinning until it hit the sand, then snapping and spinning back. "Maybe we should do something else Desco. How about we go swimming, there could be fish." Desco looked out and toed into the water. "But Desco doesn't know how to swim." "I thought your middle name was Submersible!" The final boss was a little embarrassed because Guu was right, that was her middle name. "But daddy never taught Desco how to swim! She can float and breathe underwater, but Desco has never been underwater!" "Well come on I'll show you." Desco left behind Yogsothoth, which just floated idle on the beach seemingly watch the two little girls. Guu's outfit shifted to a one piece blue swimsuit with 'Guu' written on her chest in the native language from Hare's village, while Desco had no change of clothes so she stayed as is. Guu tasted the water as the pair waded out to the water. "This is saltwater so its even easier to float in. Just give me your hands and let your body relax." Desco did as she was instructed and then she was floating in the water. "Desco did it!" She was excited at even the small accomplishments that she completed. Guu let go of one of Desco's hands and shapeshifted fingers onto her hands, moving them back and forth. "Now just kick your feet like this." Desco started kicking her feet, her mouth part open now lightly 'Ooo'ing. Then Guu waved her arm around in big circles "Now just wave your arms in big circles... and goo!" Guu let go of Desco's other hand and she tried to start swimming. But she wasn't moving at all in the water and soon sank into the water head first. She struggled a little, surprised, and then got herself back upright standing on the shallow sand."That didn't work!" Re: Day One: Part 1 - Retane - 05-27-2015 (Before the Hammer) Retane stood there looking up into the morning sky. Jack was standing there beside him marking off the dead zones. The Emerald Fiend had left him in charge of keeping up with it. It was still dark, and the namek felt this was his favorite time. He had sniffed Jack out rather easily, and the Guardian looked unscathed, still a virgin to the violence and carnage of the Abyss. The namek looked his fellow Horsemen and wondered if either of them were truly ready ready for their next act. Stop ignoring me. I know you can hear me. I feel you so close now. Just accept me! Give into my arm embrace. I promise you will enjoy it. You always enjoy it. The Emerald warrior looked around. The voice in his head and truly become stronger. It sounded strangely familiar, though the Horsmen couldn't put a finger on it. It was almost as if he was feeling a slight since of dejavu, but his memories wouldn't let him through to grasp at the answer. The namek was always searching for answers. He was growing weary of it. He let out low growl, only one that Frost would pick up on and glanced back, "Whats wrong?" The namekian shook his head, not wanting to talk about it, "Let's go. We are going for that 'Fancy Hammer'." The icer eyed his comrade for a moment, "Any particular reason?" Retane paused for a moment and looked Jack in the eye and watched as a chopper flew slowly overhead giving his decision one final thought. "A few. We need better weapons then this bull shit, first off. Plus we need to gauge the competition. See how willing others are to put their lives on their line. Some will be desperate, some will be greedy. They will show themselves though. And they will learn, just as the rest of the Abyss will learn, that the Horsemen have come. Plus you need to feel the wrath of the Abyss, see it unfold first hand." "So you want me to look banged up like you?" Jack offered a slight chuckle. "You need to know what you got yourself into... If we get split up though, meet me back here." ------------- (After the Hammer) The namekian, his back against a tree, looked down at his throbbing foot He wouldn't remove his foot to check it out. The boot kept the pressure on it, and the walk from the battle had allowed him to get back to the rendezvous spot. He had used the pole-arm for the first part of the trek as a cane of sorts, slowly putting more and more pressure on his left foot as his adrenaline slowed down. By the time he had reached his destination he was walking nearly fine. Now he slowly kept putting pressure on it to keep it warmed and ready to go at a moment's notice. The Emerald Warrior looked up at his first trophy, the glaive. A pole-axe with a wicked blade, and a way to keep his foe at a distance. It was something deadly in the right hands. The right hands, being his own. The namekian twirled the blade around a single hand, from front to back, keeping it centered with ease, and with the passed it to the other hand, still keeping the rotation. It was well balanced and the namekian was confident it would it would end a few lives. The Emerald Warrior had thought about giving it to Jack Frost, but not now. He couldn't just give up a weapon he couldn't just really give up the only weapon that was his best chance at taking the lives of others. Sure the dented mirror and his hands had done some work, but he wasn't his usual self. He didn't have his normal strength to just kill people with ease. He was weaker, and while that made him feel as if he was backed into a corner and made him just as vicious, he needed something to counter act the ranged attacks like the one that could have really wrecked him and Jack Frost. Thank you! I needed that! You soaked our roots. You made us so happy. Thank you so much! We missed you. The namekian straightened himself then as he slowly looked back at the tree he leaned against. Of course that was the voice. It was the trees. It was this place itself that had calling out to him. It was Dante's Abyss. The Emerald Warrior took a deep breath at the realization and tried to focus. He shook his head, hoping he was wrong, but he remembered the other trees in the Tangled Greens reaching out and speaking too him. The orgosynth on his right shoulder flared up and the namek grasped at his head, trying to stop it all. The orgosynth seemed to be growing stronger now with each activation. It loved the fighting, it pushed on his inner desires and begged to be used always now. For some reason the Emerald Fiend had no problem activating it, it was almost a release of ecstasy and power. It made him stronger and he couldn't help but enjoy it. It allowed him to do what needed to be done. But now the namekian had to wonder what the hell was going on within him. He had the trees in his head; He had the Malefactor seeking more pleasure with each fight, wanting more violence and blood lust; And Jack Frost still hadn't showed back up Then, almost at once, a soothing noise called out. He heard a howl of a wolf. He wasn't sure if it was in his head or if a wolf was really out there. But it calmed the anxiety he was feeling, nearly instantly. It was then that Retane realized his was staring at a pair of eyes. Bloody eyes. Eyes in his hand. He had ripped the eyeballs out of his first kill. Re: Day One: Part 1 - Neal - 05-27-2015 Morning. The light shining in through the windows inspired Neal. It meant he had survived till dawn. Though there was nothing to suggest it, he suspected there were already a few competitors eliminated before sunrise, victims of unfortunate circumstances and coincidental meetups. He should know, his first move had him fighting a Wartortle. Getting shot at, more like it. Neal could care less about the losers, getting cozy in the outside world where they were no longer expected to kill or be killed. For them, the worst part was over. As for the other competitors, Neal included, things would only go downhill from here. He was blind to the other competitors' locations, which meant any move he made could very well be his last. His preparation for such an encounter was intuitive, but it did not inspire the greatest of confidence. Upon his left arm he tied the Uno Shield, cards glued on top of cardboard, on top of a gridiron from some now incomplete stove. In his right hand, he held a hefty, squared club with more of those black, red and gold Uno cards glued to its smashing end. It felt clumbsy, despite being lighter than the heavier swords he was used to. Heavy ended with a tapered handle, he only hoped it would hold when he bashed someone's head in with it. Sadly, Neal's pre-morning search of the diner had turned out less than satisfactory. The diner was pretty much useless in a fight. Too many windows to board up and no lock on the kitchen door - which swung both ways, making it impossible to barricade. The last option was not entirely desirable, considering it meant locking himself in what was the only defensible room in this joint: the bathroom. If I'm going to play smart, I need a better bunker, Neal reminded himself once again as he stared down at the map. "The Clinic is probably the closest... or the town... The town's probably crawling with people. But the resources..." He focused on the cluster of buildings, as if trying to figure out whether this was worth it. "Then again, medical supplies could draw in a crowd..." That settled it. "Town." His wounds were not that serious, but others with better weapons and a more aggressive play-style might look to the clinic first. Neal rolled up his map and stuffed it back in his dingy duffle bag. He had yet to eat, but he brought out his bottle of water and uncapped it for a quick swig. He tosses his bag over his shoulder, grabs up his shield and club, and heads out the back door, compass in hand. On the way northwards, he would swing by and pick up his beloved coat and hat. Of course he had to take a moment to put them both on, mainly to keep his hair out of his face. Perhaps he enjoyed the cool-factor it gave as well. Re: Day One: Part 1 - Karl Jak - 05-27-2015 Face to Face
#30 Vincent Valentine vs #34 Erza Scarlet and #14 Mickey Mouse A gosh darn picnic! Karl couldn’t understand how some of the contestants were passing the time. The two people he was watching had just robbed the hammer of a demigod from a mob of bloodthirsty killers, and now they were just watching the sunrise and eating chili and porkchops. For whatever reason, everyone else in the room seemed to be eating it up. Even though most of the people mimized their private feeds, Karl knew that most of them were watching the adorable little scene playing out in an area of the island they had all started to nickname ‘Blood Row.’ It wasn’t Death Row quite yet, but with any luck, that could change in the near future. ***
Erza and Mickey were enjoying their picnic when they heard the rustling noise that was just a little too loud to be a wild animal. The woman and the mouse turned and both saw the little rock rolling down the gentle slope of the plain. After a silent moment, they both shrugged their shoulders and returned to their delicious meals. And that was when the Molotov cocktail exploded right between the two of them. In a heartbeat, the little picnic scene was a hellish inferno as the two allies—both with burning clothes—frantically tried to snuff out the flames vying to consume their bodies. As they thrashed, the air next to them rippled, and a pale-skinned man in black and red stepped out of his stealth. With a scowl, Vincent Valentine threw a kick at the burning woman, catching her in the jaw as she fumbled for the giant gun lying next to her. Before the ex-Turk could grab the oversized firearm, the mouse lunged at him, flames and all. Vincent hit the ground and threw out a fist, batting away Mickey’s hand just as it released an energy blast into the morning sky. With a grunt, the pale prime shoved the mouse off his chest and sprang to his feet. As he turned around, he saw that the woman was pointing a hammer at him, and the expression on her face was a radical departure from the smile and happiness that Vincent had observed earlier. A bolt of lightning erupted from Mjolnir and slammed into Vincent. For a brief moment, he felt his life flash before his eyes, but after the initial, blood vessel-bursting impact, his heart started to beat once again. By that time, the mouse had doused his own coat of flames and risen up next to his ally. Knowing that his time was up, Vincent threw out a palm. His collar flickered as it granted him access to his normal abilities, and before the woman or the mouse could strike him down, the ex-Turk released the overflow blast. The giant onslaught of energized blasts materialized from thin air and screamed through the air at the pair of primes. Finding solace in one another, they hugged each other close, making themselves one small target for only a handful of the beams. When the attack faded away, they both opened their eyes to see that Vincent was gone. The pale prime had vanished into the cover of stealth to nurse his own wounds. "So that was a bit rough." The namekian looked up to catch Jack's strained smile and closed his hand. Jack saw that the hand and his other were bloody and recognized that Retane had acquired a stick with a curved blade as well as a schraded back end. "Wow, who did you have to kill to get that?" Jack laughed but it slowly died out as h realized what he had said. "He wore a red suit, had some lightning bolts, was the faster out of everyone there it seemed. I didn't stop to ask him his name." The namek was pretty blunt with his words, and Jack almost could understand why. "So you killed him but we didn't get the 'fancy hammer'?" Frost did his best to hide his own injury from his friend as he lowered his injured leg slowly. "Seems so, I don't know how it ended, but I know we got the first kill of the Abyss." Retane shot an evil smile that vanished quickly. Jack heard 'we' and felt a little prouder, knowing he meant the Horsemen as a whole, "Sorry I couldn't do much more." Frost thew up his shoulders in a shrug. "I don't have Savior, so I'm a lot weaker then before. " "Don't count yourself short, I just killed a man with with my bare hands, as the rest stood there and watched. You can jump high, can climb trees, and can jump from a tree and land on a single leg. " Do you think everyone else can do that?"The namek strode forth a step pushing off the tree he leaned against, and grimaced slightly with the step." You defended myself and yourself from a strong attack. I only got an injured leg. It's not enough to really affect me but it could have been a lot worst. " The Guardian of the Horsemen felt proud then, and took a step himself, revealing that he too had lost his virginity to Dante's Abyss and walked with a limp. The green warrior noticed it immediately and gave a concerned look, but the Ice Man quickly laughed it off, "I'm good! I can still play hopscotch." The namekian paused confused, but shook his head after a few moments as Jack demonstrated the game with three staggering hops. Jack only laughed doing his best to make the light of the situation, but Jack knew all too well, that things were serious. He wasn't sure if he was prepared for them, but he had never been prepared to have to fight Pitch Black head on, put he had found a way to do so. He had to believe then, that he and his friend could do this, not matter the odds. Even without Savior, he had to make sure that Himself and Retane lived. He knew it was his job to protect Retane, but if he died, he wouldn't be able to. Jack nodded slightly to himself and gave a sigh as he limped forward to his comrade and placed a hand on the green guy's shoulder, "Don't worry about me so much. It's your job to dirty work, and my job to follow you right? You go get us the kills and I'll do my best to help you." Retane let out one of his famous low growls and placed the pole-axe against his own shoulder and produced the mirror. Well what was once a mirror, though the glass was broke and the metal frame was dented. Jack offered a confused glance, curious at the reason, "You need a weapon, and that thing you have sucks. At least with this you can club them if they get close, that or stab them with the pointed end. " Jack nodded as he too the broken mirror for a second and felt weird. It had flesh and blood on but Jack accepted at what he must do, and laughed as he looked up, "So who has the bad luck?" Retane raised a brow, and Frost couldn't help but grin, "Superstition man. Break a Mirror get bad luck? That or you were just so hideous." The Dark Hunter let out a sigh and played along, "Must've been him. He was the one wearing the mask." The Guardian of the Horsemen laughed for a second then looked to his fellow Horsemen's right shoulder, "What is that?" |
