Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-09-2015 Flash Wrote:Pick me! Pick me next, pick me! I like advice! Hrm. I don't have much to offer, since you're new, which honestly isn't a good or bad thing. It might actually be easy for someone to pop into the Omniverse and be pulled into this. I imagine it could be pretty amusing to see the Flash in this situation. If you join, make sure you're active in the pre-show phase, and that should help you through the first half-day. After that, it'll be all about rollin' with the punches. Partnering with someone else who is level 1 probably wouldn't hurt. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-09-2015 Victor Wolfe Wrote:Not written much here but any advice would be much appreciated Very similar to Flash (I regret I haven't read any of your work yet either). If you join (which you should, you have nothing to lose and only OM and adulation to gain!), just make sure you're active during the phase before the island. Just like Flash, I'd look to ally with another person who is Level 1, as neither of you will have to worry about being betrayed and slammed with power ups or anything like that. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Guu - 05-09-2015 I have a good idea of what your advice for me would be, but, heck, I'll give it a shot. Hit me with it. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-09-2015 Desco Wrote:I mine as well jump on this wagon Desco's a pretty fascinating character, and I feel like this type of situation would give you the freedom to really branch out with her. She was BAMF prior to Omniverse, came here weak, and now she'll be in a situation where she's further inhibited. The frustrations/struggle she experiences could itself make for a compelling storyline while on the island. I heard talk that you and Guu might team up? I think that would be an awesome pair, given both your characters similarities and their mutual situation. The pair of you walking around with half-decent weapons could make life miserable for more than a few people. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-09-2015 Guu Wrote:I have a good idea of what your advice for me would be, but, heck, I'll give it a shot. Ironic that you ask me this as I was typing the one for Desco. The same stuff I mentioned about the character being inhibited applies to you as well. Guu's a great character though, because I honestly don't think you'll have too much trouble having fun. I just imagine Guu going to a beach and sunbathing for a while, and I'd be more than okay with that. In terms of arrangements... like I told Desco, you two would be a great and complemantary pair. That isn't to say you or Desco couldn't survive on your own. Much like DP, I could picture Guu being mostly oblivious to the whole 'murder island' thing and just trying to enjoy herself until something goes horribly wrong. I enjoy fun characters, so don't feel the need to be hyper surious on my account. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Guu - 05-09-2015 Ooh! That's good advice! Thanks Proto! <3 Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Mickey Mouse - 05-10-2015 When you've got a minute I'd love to hear your advice! Assuming, of course, I keep up activity. (If you haven't read Mickey at all, basically all you need to know is he says "oh boy" and "oh brother" a lot and hates violence because lol disney) Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-10-2015 So you're not rugged KH Mickey?! Jest aside, my advice for you will be similar to the stuff I gave to most Level 1 characters. You're at a disadvantage, because you'll lack a few variables like transformations. A nice partner (a level 1 preferably for trust reasons) could help get you through the initial carnage if you're lacking a decent weapon to defend yourself. After Day 1, you'll just have to make sure you remain active and can keep Mickey compelling. Will he be reduced to violence or will he remain stalwart even as the world goes to shit around him? I think you'll have a lot of material to work with, you just got to keep at it, and you could make a decent stab at the competition. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Retane - 05-10-2015 AKA AVOID getting 'Retaned' Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Mickey Mouse - 05-10-2015 Oh, he's rugged KH Mickey (aka a total badass), he just doesn't like killing things that aren't Heartless. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Retane - 05-10-2015 <<,Hearltess Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-10-2015 *nod* Splendid. I hope you're active, I look forward to what you have to write! Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Tartaros - 05-13-2015 I'm still very, VERY new here, however, I would still appreciate any advice ya might have. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-13-2015 Get a friend. You'll be losing a lot when you get to the island, so you need to be ready to write outside your character's comfort zone. If you can do this well and create an engaging story, you'll improve your odds. It goes without saying that it might be in your benefit to team up with the other low-level 40k characters? You can all support one another and would, despite being lower level and somewhat new, be somewhat of a hurdle to get through if you can keep each other going. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Omni - 05-14-2015 Alright hit me. Advice, Al? Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Jak Mar - 05-14-2015 I'm kind of weird, How do you think I would do? Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-14-2015 If you can stay active for the duration of the contest, you could probably make a few waves. Your best bet may be to find someone to partner up with who will keep you posting. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Proto Man - 05-14-2015 Omni Wrote:Alright hit me. Advice, Al? If you're active and motivated, you can break into the top 5 easily. You have the skill and an engaging enough character to go places, as well as the SP to make more than a few people bleed. Don't be afraid to get scrappy with people if it means you can earn another weapon or two, as you obviously have at least a basic idea of how strategy plays a role here. In terms of allys/solo -- I think you could pull off either. Like many of the semi-active people or people coming off of breaks, an ally might help keep you active and writing at a high level if you pick the right person. Re: Get Advice Thrown at you by the Proto Man - Ganondorf - 05-15-2015 As a more specific advice thing, I assume you've read my work in the past. Possibly my recent stuff as well. As you've stated that we're pretty much playing to see who engages you the most with their character, what might I change to make my roleplays more appealing to you? |
