RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - James Knight - 07-16-2017

See, I was copying and pasting the posts, putting it in quotes, and having him use those "flash backs" and critique them, as it were.. critiquing his experiences, berating himself digitally for past failures in the Omniverse. In a sense, he was going to be "writing a diary" as it were. Mind you, I haven't posted it up yet, because I wasn't sure if it was allowed or not.

As long as you put it in quotes, you can rip off Tolkien for all I, or the site, will care.

No. Do not rip off Tolkien lol

@Vertias: Yes, that's perfectly fine as long as you quote your posts.

RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - James Knight - 07-16-2017

On a related note is quoting the posts of others, if they involve your character in the Digital Diary I'm writing allowable, or not?

RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - Handsome Jack - 07-16-2017

Sure. Maybe let them know first.

RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - James Knight - 07-16-2017

Can bases be off of the ground in Coruscant, like floating?

RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - Alex - 07-16-2017

No. They got some tall apartment buildings though, if you are hungry for a nice view

RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - James Knight - 07-16-2017

Oh. Was going for a floating base idea, but I suppose Coruscant wouldn't work for that then. Would any of the verses work for such?

RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - Alex - 07-16-2017

Try searching Floating bases. I know the question was raised at least once or twice before.

I'll search it when i get to my laptop.

RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - Gildarts - 07-16-2017

I wanted a floating island in Camelot and it was mentioned it could be considered as a base update

RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - Handsome Jack - 07-16-2017

Your technically CAN have a floating base, but it must be accessible by foot. Ganon's Fortress floated over a pool of magma, but it had a bridge allowing access to folks. "Teleportation Pads" do not count as accessible by foot. It must have a path that cannot be turned off or destroyed. Preferably multiple paths.

Tldr; only if it can still be Assaulted by ground troops.

RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - James Knight - 07-16-2017

Trying to figure out which verse now. Thanks for the advice, Cell.

RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - Gaston - 07-16-2017

Would it count as "accessible by foot" if one had a ladder attached?

If said ladder couldn't be destroyed, yes.

RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - James Knight - 07-16-2017

Would a Hover Platform that couldn't be turned off work in the Ashen Steppes as "accessible by foot" if they could climb onto it, and then it would take them up to the base, or several such platforms? Just a thought, as I don't want to give say, a giant staircase leading up to my base.

RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - Handsome Jack - 07-16-2017

@Veritas: no. Has to allow continuous movement. Thus a ladder or staircase is fine. A cool bridge is fine. Magical birds, teleporters, hover pads, etc. Are not fine, because they don't allow continous and free movement. You COULD have some kind of magic wormhole that moves them from the ground to your base instantly, but seems very... vulnerable.

RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - James Knight - 07-16-2017

See, I really wanted the base to be high up in the air primarily because of the one the character would be recreating. Is there any way that could be possible, without making it ground-bound?

RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - James Knight - 07-16-2017

Also another related question, is creating a location from the canon of your character as a base allowed, or not?

RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - Daniel - 07-16-2017

No. and that's final. No compromises. Bases must be accessible by foot so that they can be assaulted. It's part of owning a base.

RE: Quick Questions (please read the OP) - Handsome Jack - 07-16-2017

1) if it does not allow free movement to and from the surface of the Verse, no. It is not allowed. If it seems iffy, run the idea by someone.

2) it's allowed. Many people have made Bases based on their Canon worlds.
