This is sending me very mixed feelings. (Awesome list though, it sounds really fitting!) RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-10-2017 Just because a digimon is a Virus doesn't inherently mean its evil. Even in the show, digi destined have been paired with viruses that were perfectly heroic. It does tend to give them sort of 'criminal' mental characteristics, but it doesn't make them incapable of trying to (or being) super good. Case in point: Black War Greymon from the original series. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Daniel - 05-10-2017 Cyberdramon is a vaccine type that only wants to fight and kill things. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-10-2017 Vision: https://wikimon.net/Yuramon https://wikimon.net/Tanemon https://wikimon.net/Betamon https://wikimon.net/Orgemon https://wikimon.net/Death_Meramon https://wikimon.net/Boltmon Vision has always struck me as a sort of superhero take on Frankenstein's Monster. Unlike Frank, though, Vision has a perfect understanding of society's rules and systems, and he even has the capability for things like love and anger. I would venture to say that Vision does not, however, have a good understanding of why people break rules, aside from material incentive. I feel like he would have a hard time understanding the Joker, for instance. He can't really be blamed; not even humans fully understand humans. That's why I paired him with monsters: the likes of Ogremon and Death Meramon; rebels til the day they die. Over time, as Vision grew to understand them, Boltmon might emerge, mirroring Vision's frankenstein nature, but striking a balance between liberty and righteousness. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - King Ghidorah - 05-10-2017 I'm seriously curious about who you'd stick with Ghidorah. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Victor Wolfe - 05-10-2017 Would have never thought of that on my own. Fits so well too. Cheers Neal
RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-10-2017 Desman: https://wikimon.net/Dodomon https://wikimon.net/Dorimon https://wikimon.net/Monodramon https://wikimon.net/Deltamon https://wikimon.net/Metal_Tyranomon https://wikimon.net/Mugendramon Desman is a Prime with a bit of a past. Deep familial issues, getting stuck in a robot body and all other kinds of things. The kid has damage, and to that extent, he's going to need to learn to move on from that if he ever expects to find some peace in life. His digimon partner, Monodramon, starts out as a lovable if a bit bloodthirsty little tyke who I feel would make a great friend for Desman to take care of. As his evolutions progress, though, he gradually becomes more and more of a machine, culminating in Mugendramon, who's like, the most mechanical digimon ever. This might be a bit of a trigger for Desman, since the same thing basically happened to him. If he learns to accept the reality of his partner's cyborg natures, however, it may help him learn to find closure with his own situation. Meanwhile, Desman's relatively sound sense of fair play and compassion will probably help his digimon learn to keep a cool head. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Demetri Malius - 05-10-2017 Perchance you can match up Dave or Demetri? Or Both? RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Summer - 05-10-2017 Well consider me curious. Could you do Somerled/Sonny? RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Gaston - 05-10-2017 I know I haven't done much, so personality may be hard, but could you do Cole? RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Ezrihel - 05-10-2017 Could I possibly get one for Ezrihel? I'm curious to see what you think'd go best with him. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - The Vision - 05-10-2017 You just defined my character better than I did in my head. Thanks Tearen! On another note, can someone explain to me a la Sparknotes how evolution works in Digimom? RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-10-2017 Madotsuki: https://wikimon.net/Botamon https://wikimon.net/Tokomon https://wikimon.net/Plotmon https://wikimon.net/Unimon https://wikimon.net/Hippogriffomon https://wikimon.net/Griffomon Madotsuki strikes me as someone who has a lot of repressed anger towards reality. This deep-rooted resentmeny has lead her to be withdrawn and dismissive about the world around her, and more importantly, the people in it. Unfortunately, reality is something we cannot escape, even with the deepest of dreams, and the longer Madotsuki goes without coming to terms with this, the more withdrawn she will become. She needs someone to encourage her to keep at least one foot on the ground, but this message can't come from the sort of people that caused her to turn her back on the world in the first place. The partners I chose for Madotsuki are all compassionate, but dead serious, and could help her learn to come down to earth and connect with people. They come in the guise of the sort of mythological dream-beasts she's more inclined to bond with, so all the better. Bendy: https://wikimon.net/Mokumon https://wikimon.net/Koromon https://wikimon.net/Tyumon https://wikimon.net/Bakemon https://wikimon.net/Pumpmon https://wikimon.net/Pinochimon Bendy was kind of hard to find a partner for, but eventually I figured out what his issue was. See, Bendy is competent, personable, cruel, cooperative, and reasonably thoughtful. What we need to focus on is why he's such an unrepentant sociopath. As usual, it comes down to anger. Bendy reminds me of pinnochio, in that he was basically an artificial entertainer come to life. Aside from this and his 2spook schtick being reflected in his partner, the digimon he's paired with all tend to have their own ideas and agendas. This is partially conjecture, but I believe Bendy's homocidal anger towards his creators is out of a hatred of being something he can't control. Learning not just to collaborate but occasionally play second-fiddle to a best friend could help the ink demon get over his fear that not being in control of a situation somehow makes him less important. Meanwhile, Tyumon and his evolutions get to hang out with someone who not only is unafraid of their appearance, but downright adores them for it. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Jak Mar - 05-10-2017 I'd like to see some partners for Jak ^^ RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Desman Black - 05-10-2017 (05-10-2017, 03:44 PM)Tearen Wover Wrote: Desman:I agree with this opinion, they will also probably show that someone can became a robot without losing their humanitty, also is A.N.N.A gets killed there are also plenty of 'negative' evolution Digimon... RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Madotsuki - 05-10-2017 That's actually pretty accurate for both of them. Having repressed anger would be interesting because there's a more serious reason behind it that she doesn't realize due to not remembering the majority of her past. And you're 100% correct for Bendy being a real control freak, lol. Hatred for his creators is partially what you said and the fact that Joey killed Boris-- so there's also a bit of revenge in there too. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Alex Mercer - 05-10-2017 Have to ask... who would be paired with Zenith? XD RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-10-2017 I'm just going to put a hypothetical question out there for people. Are you asking for a partner because you actually think you want to do the digimon quest, or, are you asking because you just want attention? Because the purpose of this thread is to help people who want to do the quest. Please don't answer that, just think about it. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-10-2017 Minato: https://wikimon.net/Kuramon https://wikimon.net/Tsumemon https://wikimon.net/Gabumon_(Black) https://wikimon.net/Kyubimon_(Silver) https://wikimon.net/Taomon_(Silver) https://wikimon.net/Hououmon SPOILERS Minato is a pretty complex character, but when you really boil him down he's just a dad at heart. Even before he met Kushina, he was nurturing and compassionate in a way that compelled him to look out for people and make sure they did their very best. Being that he was hokage before dying, it's fair to say that there were few character flaws he hadn't identified and addressed by that point. The Omniverse, of course, changed all of that. So did a fox demon. Minato died right after essentially sacrificing his newborn son, so not only did he never really get to meet and raise Naruto, he also has to live now with the guilt of having done what he had to do, despite being (probably?) the right call. I think a digimon partner would have to be something that wouldn't necessarily help Minato face his demons (because he already has the personal strength to do that) but actually put them directly in his face. Rookie level digimon and younger would easily trigger his fatherly instincts, though this digimon line is all female so it wouldn't be a surrogate son, per se. But, when he finds out that Black Gabumon's evolution is basically the same fox demon that killed him and his son, I'm guessing there would be some tension. It would be up to Minato to learn to love and nurture his honorary adopted daughter despite throwing his self-perceived sins in his face every single day, and if he was able to learn to forgive himself for all of his transgressions, then I guess eventually his digimon turns into an awesome bird god that shoots lightning. |
