It seems, upon light reflection, that this thread revolves a lot around people's expectations. Something to always keep in mind is that you can't control other people, only yourself and how you respond to others.

Goddamnit, just make a "Open for PvP"-flag or something if you are afraid so much. You know the thing? The one that you use to show people around you that you are ready to give and to take any asskicking they can, and can't, both manage and deliver?

I have been intentionally avoiding this site for the past few days because I'm so damn mad at some people here.
LAW have done nothing that isn't in the rules. LAW have done nothing that doesn't fit with their characters.
What has become blindingly clear, though, is that some people don't like that because it's mean.
Even though it makes sense for villainous or otherwise morally suspect characters to do so.
I just ... Christ, I don't remember putting up with this sort of bullshit on Chubbs until it was in its death throes. And that's saying something.
Thaal and Luffy (especially) have succinctly spelled it out, in my mind.
I'll still be around, but compared to now, it'll be incredibly rare. There's better things I can be doing with my time than putting in all this effort and then being slapped down like this.

You know I saw that because that's what I signed up for when I directly challenged Ganny D by setting up shop in the Endless Dunes. I'm sorry if I hadn't advertised that while I was recruiting members but I knew that there was going to be a time when our factions were either going to clash or ally. It was more leading to one giant war so I'm not very surprised that this happened in the first place.
Do I wish they had warned us OOC...yeah. Do I wish that they had waited so that I became less rusted and that my allies had recovered from fights...yeah. But the thing is that I can see why they did it. It does make sense IC what they did and truth be told if they had told us "Hey we're going to do a base assault" some members would probably want to somehow get all alliances over here without OOC knowledge of it. That wouldn't make as good as a story and I don't hold a grudge against them for doing it.
What I am very disappointed about is the actions taken on both sides after the fight was declared. I feel like both sides had tried to do everything to win for OOC reasons and stopped caring about the writing. I feel like both sides, maybe my side a bit more, had gone and tried to bend the rules into ways that would benefit them. When did this faction war come about wiping one another out rather than making a story which is the point of a site like this.
I personally respect all writers on this site and even moreso for Ganondorf. While we were dreaded enemies IC, I have so much respect for him OOC and I don't let my IC ties bleed into OOC. I feel like some people don't have that same respect i have for other writers and try to win at any costs.
TL;DR L.A.W is cool , don't try and bend the rules, have respect for your fellow writers.

Regarding my thoughts earlier in the thread, like Gilg, I do feel law was totally justified in what they did, despite having mixed feelings about whether it was rude or not.
I think people need to remember that, in a PbP format, the story you want to have is never guaranteed. I wanted Vovlagia dead three months ago, but stuff happened and now I'm in NB in the middle of a faction war.
That's not irritating; that's stimulating. Of course I'm still going to pursue my ultimate goals, but the road is just taking some unexpected turns. I'm the first person to tell anyone that, given the determination and inspiration, you can write anything into playing in your favor.

The "Your character is not in a vacuum!" part of the About page must be emphasized here. We protect people to an extent in not having things done to their character that they wouldn't want to happen, and of course we encourage discussion and co-operation even in conflict. But being part of a living world is kind of our shtick.
