If a secondary uses a VR station to enter the Dataverse, would they respawn when they die, or not? The rules kinda never said whether the "you'll just respawn elsewhere in the Dataverse" thing applies to secondaries or not.

When you use a VR Station, you're not actually in the dataverse; it's just a projection. Secondary or Prime, that doesn't really change. So yes, they would still respawn elsewhere in the Dataverse.

If they actually used an Uplink Station to physically enter the dataverse, that would not be the case, of course, though.

RE: Quick Questions II - The Humble Sage - 05-28-2016

What would be the mods method for handling a character who would frequently attack the main factions, but clearly wouldn't be ready for it?

basically, I'm considering running Skeletor as my second character, since I think his banter and egomania would make him a fun character to RP as. However, you just know the first thing he'll do when he arrives is try to conquer something. Even when he fails, he'll get stronger, maybe go get some artefact, and go try again.

I don't want to make you guys have to write all the different ways he would lose, as I feel that would burn through patience with the character pretty quickly, and Skeletor in Hell seems less interesting than other stories for him. Would you want/permit me to write the faction's counters to Skeletor, or would any attempt to attack the faction require the storyteller to make sure they are handled with canonical correctness.

(I'm sure small things like a random village I could handle, but Skeletor would not be one to wait to go after the big targets.)

I have other options I considering for number two, I just wanted to get a feel for how the mods would handle the aggressive harassing of far more powerful forces that Skeletor would need to do to feel true to the character.

Thanks!

Well, The storyteller would be in there with consequences.

As a fresh prime, I would advise against trying to attack factions. They are a Boot, you are an Ant. On top of that, eventually you would become problematic enough that they'd just send someone to banish you and, eventually, that's what all this will lead you towards. So you have to ask yourself one question, do I feel lucky... well... do ya punk?

Wait... I mean, do you think you will become invested enough in this character to see them through the underverse?

Also, just to be clear; "do I feel lucky... well... do ya punk?" is a quote from a movie, I wasn't insulting you.

RE: Quick Questions II - Weiss Schnee - 06-01-2016

How different would two characters have to be to be allowed in as a Prime? I was thinking of doing an alternate version of Chara as an NPC prime, from a timeline that would dramatically alter their character, abilities, etc. to the point of almost being a different person entirely. I was wondering how this would be handled.

You wouldn't be allowed in the first place, considering that Chara is not from either of your character's source material and is considered one of Undertale's Main characters.

Will text in spoilers add to the OM count? I know that anything inside quotes don't count for any OM but how about spoilers?

The precious gemstone is correct. Spoilered text does add to your OM count.

RE: Quick Questions II - Thor - 06-08-2016

could anyone make secondary versions of existing Primes? (For instance, if Iron-man joins can I still make an Iron-man secondary?)

I am aware, but I do eventually get a third character slot.

If you got a third character that was from Undertale, you'd be fine to have an NPC version of Chara. They'd just be considered different versions of the same characters. Notable example of this would be Proto Man having Mega Man as an NPC while we have a Mega Man PC. They'd just exist as separate versions of the same character.

Yes. Similar to making a Prime, they'd just be different versions of the same character.

RE: Quick Questions II - Amaterasu - 06-10-2016

This may be a slightly weird question, but are there any records kept of the ONN's broadcast on the Dante's Abyss event, so that someone who doesn't see the Live Feed could still catch it later on?

Much like real world news media, I presume ONN keeps an archive of their previous broadcasts and displays at least some (if not all) of them on their own Dataverse website/service. For the sake of roleplaying convenience, unless an admin overrules me on this, I will say that all of their past broadcasts are easily accessible to the public.

RE: Quick Questions II - Hiro Protagonist - 06-13-2016

I have a roster question. Does the fact that my Glass Katana can break/shatter count as a drawback for purposes of determining it's strength?

RE: Quick Questions II - Daniel - 06-13-2016

Just to clarify, the actual damaging abilities of the Katana would be highly dependent on the stats of the two people engaging in battle (your str compared to their def). that being said, you can also summon this glass Katana at any time you wish (The repair aspect to the move). I'm not quite sure why this repair time is so long, as you could probably do it faster than currently available (as long as it meets the minimum summoning time and makes sense).

So don't expect it to be much more powerful than any other weapon in the Omniverse.

RE: Quick Questions II - Hiro Protagonist - 06-13-2016

Well the repair and reconstruction are meant to be for battle situations, it's supposed to get chipped and broken during particularly powerful strikes.

Basically, I wanted it to be a blade that he would use for certain moves, here and there, while the majority of his "normal" strikes would be with the tanto. The katana is supposed to be like the Giant's Knife in LoZ: powerful, but fragile and hard to use over and over.

RE: Quick Questions II - 2B - 06-18-2016

Does Omniverse have the concept of a God, or many gods? That ties obviously into religions.
I know we have Omni, but if you went to a random human living in Omniverse and asked them, "Do you believe in God?" would they know what you're asking to begin with?
If the concept of god exists, that'd mean that religion likely does as well. Does Omniverse have a single religion, many of them?
If you asked the same person which God do they believe in, what would they answer?

This may come off as a non-answer, but it would entirely depend on the person you're asking. There are likely to be as many metaphysical interpretations of the Omniverse and its place in the cosmos as there are religions. Some likely continue to believe in their deity and regard the Omniverse as simply one of their realms. Others might view a sufficiently powerful Prime or even Omni himself as that deity, as an embodiment/aspect of it or as their deity's appointed messiah. Yet others would probably view the Omniverse as a realm with separate deities entirely, forcing them to either adapt/abandon their faith or desperately seek a way to return to their world. And some might have a faith that doesn't revolve around the worship of a specific entity to begin with, thus making them unaffected by the change. Really, there's almost no limit to how any given individual could interpret the Omniverse and their own place in it.

I will say that, because of how young the Omniverse is, chances are that it is a melting pot of various religious beliefs that individuals brought over from their native universes. Of course, since getting transported into the Omniverse is a very drastic change for many, that doesn't preclude the creation of new branches, sects and maybe even entire new religions.

RE: Quick Questions II - Thor - 06-18-2016

Does anyone know if there is a rule about your characters powers changing with the rules of the omniverse? For instance, I bought super speed so that I could use it while I fly, but since the rules don't say it needs to be attached to a specific mod of movement is there anything stopping me from having Thor realize he can now run at superspeed? Not saying I would, and if I did I would roleplay him discovering and learning to use said power before he became able to effectively use it. I do think it would be a very interesting quirk of the Omniverse and am interested in exploring it in relation to all of Thor's abilities.

RE: Quick Questions II - Daniel - 06-18-2016

No... since you purchased super speed, Thor can activate the ability to run at super speed... Not just use it to fly at super speed.

But remember, super speed can only be used while traveling in a straight line.

RE: Quick Questions II - Not Mastema - 06-19-2016

Is it possible for a prime to own his own business/company within the omniverse?

RE: Quick Questions II - Mark - 06-19-2016

There might be some hangups depending on exactly what you'd want to be doing, but it's more than likely fine.
