Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Trixie - 09-09-2013

XD

The feels man. Those feels.

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-09-2013

I'm so sorry Greg, but Samus just died a very heroic death after killing two sectoids (mind meld) that had her buddies pinned down, when another squad of sectoids patrolled into range, activated, and flanked her.

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-09-2013

I just had the best terror mission I have ever had. Killed everything, no damage taken, 2 civs lost.

wow

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-10-2013

Seems like bad like is the thing that's getting me every time. Just had a full squad wiped out after they ALL panicked...

From one person taking 2 damage. Panic chain ftl

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Omni - 09-10-2013

The noise they make when they panic makes me rage even more. I want to go down and slap them all across the face. Get a goddamn grip, soldier!

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-10-2013

I just can't believe 6 hardened soldiers all panicked from one person taking 2 damage

da fuq?

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Omni - 09-10-2013

WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE! OH GOD! OH GOD!

*everyone stands up and starts unloading bullets into each other, because that's what trained soldiers do*

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-10-2013

Yeah 2 died from friendly fire, one ran into the open and got gunned down by a thin man on overwatch, and the other 3 couldn't do anything for a turn so the aliens just all charged up and flanked them.

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Sarah_Kerrigan - 09-11-2013

The worst is if you happen to have the console version and you have to deal with the more prominent glitches in say the terrain. I've had soldiers have a perfectly clear shot at aliens, only, for them to try and fire by turning into say a truck, or, a building and shoot it instead of leaning around the other way to fire.

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-11-2013

Worse still is getting crit while hunkered down in hard cover

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-13-2013

Going into a 'very hard' abduction mission with 3 rookies and a squadsight sniper.

I'm either boned, or my sniper is getting so many kills.

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Omni - 09-14-2013

First casualty, my rookie who had gotten promoted and who I was intending to make Ganondorf, one-shotted from behind high cover. No major loss. But now I'm going into a Very Difficult mission in Germany. Let's see how Ganon candidate #2 fares.

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Omni - 09-14-2013

So, first terror mission. Garona (my highest level, tied with Samus) and two rookies dead. Samus critically injured. Only Nanoha and the dude I'm about to make Link (he's an assault, I feel it fits him better than Ganon) survived. On the plus side, 16/18 civvies saved.

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Omni - 09-15-2013

Link, Ganon and Whirda have joined the crew as my new assault, heavy and sniper, respectively. New armor equals less deaths? Guess we'll see. Last mission had no injuries sustained. Hurray for grenades!

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Omni - 09-15-2013

The squad, as it currently stands: http://i.imgur.com/SKZ7nnq.jpg

Those were the good days. The days where it seemed we were on top of the world. Where nothing could go wrong.

We shot down a UFO over Egypt. We went to investigate. http://i.imgur.com/6LJYKYN.jpg

What happened next, well ...

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-15-2013

DId you get everyone killed?

That's what happened in my best playthrough yet. Was doing fine in a UFO mission until I had 3 groups patrol onto me at once. It was just too much.

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Sarah_Kerrigan - 09-15-2013

After I lost three fully customized squads in one hardcore play through . . . I just well, uh, stopped naming everyone and went with their defaults.

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-15-2013

I only name people after they get a class. Too many rookies later on die on the first mission for me to do that.

A part of me wants to stop naming them at all, but then I remember that the emotional connection with a bunch of random video game characters is part of the charm for me and do it anyway.

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-15-2013

I just made a new file and got the map with all the trucks. I walk one squddie up to a truck corner, and right around the side of the truck is BOTH spawns of aliens.

I ended up killing 4 with one grenade and cleaned the other two up with some good flank shots.

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Omni - 09-15-2013

Yeah I ended up the same in my first game, Kairi. This is my second rodeo so I'm hoping it'll count for something.
