Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Ganondorf - 09-02-2013 If anything, Greg is American by association. Because, as everyone knows... 'Murika. Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Thaal Sinestro - 09-02-2013

Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Omni - 09-03-2013 All I know about America is that they pronounce 'duty' as 'doodie'. That's all I know. Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Ganondorf - 09-03-2013 That's how it's supposed to be pronounced!! Damned English and their poor grasp of Americanese. Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Omni - 09-03-2013 I honestly snigger like a twelve year old every time an American says duty. Fun fact. Me and some Muricans I met in Japan were comparing accents between American and British, and they said it properly. I was disappointed. Then they said 'school' as 'skoo-wull?' and I was happy again. Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Ganondorf - 09-03-2013 To be fair, I get happy when I hear Brits and Aussies say the quaint little words you guys use for things. Like loo, trolly, snigger and basically anything else said with your, and by association, their accent. It gives me a warm feeling on the inside Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-03-2013 At PAX I was getting some of the American enforcers to say some Australian slang words. It's hilarious how you guys don't seem to be able to make any of them sound particularly good. 'Arvo' was a big one. They just... couldn't say it without sounding like idiots. Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Ganondorf - 09-03-2013 Is it pronounced like "argo"? Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-03-2013 'Ar-vo'. As in short for 'afternoon' Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Ganondorf - 09-03-2013 ... In what way is that short for afternoon? I...I mean... afternoon doesn't even have a V in it... Maybe I shouldn't ask. I doubt you'd understand if I gave you the definition of "Hooah." Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-03-2013 Let me tell you about this strange concept called slang...
Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Omni - 09-03-2013 If it makes it any better, I've never heard of 'arvo' either. Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Ganondorf - 09-03-2013 There's slang... and then there's saying that "arvo" is short for something. That'd be like me saying "hurk" is short for "magician". Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-03-2013 Look, for as long as most Americans I hear say 'could care less' as far as I'm concerned you guys have no ground to stand on when it comes to English discussions. :accepted: Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Omni - 09-03-2013 The phrase 'could care less' really irritates Ben. Just saying. Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Ganondorf - 09-03-2013 I could care less. Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-03-2013 Well why don't you then? Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Violet - 09-03-2013 Ganondorf Wrote:I could care less. I couldn't. My caring has reached the bottom of the "give a fuck" barrel. Re: The Catch-All Term for Myself and Greg - Ganondorf - 09-03-2013 If I could care less than I'd be able to care less, and if I were able to care less, than I would not longer be able to care less, as I would have reach my maximum ability to care less. |
