RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-09-2017 Cell: https://wikimon.net/Puwamon https://wikimon.net/Pinamon https://wikimon.net/Candmon https://wikimon.net/Wizarmon https://wikimon.net/Fantomon https://wikimon.net/Barbamon When I think of Cell I think of my worst nightmare; a toddler with a lethal body. That's not to say that the bioandroid is stupid; he has all the predatory cunning of a tiger and a keen intellect. He is, however, kind of impulsive. As such it felt prudent to pair him with a Digimon who; a. Would not be afraid to be frank with him and b. Would not be something immediately identifiable as edible. So, Candmon it was. The wizardmon line leading up to barbamon would, I feel, help Cell learn to think with his head and not with his tail, thanks to their own great wisdom and patience. In trade, Cell probably still wouldn't eat them. Also Barbamon looks kind of like ganondorf and that's a big deal for me. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Sans - 05-09-2017 I am very interested in this. I request a Digimon for ya boi, Sans, please! RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - The Vision - 05-09-2017 I know I already got one from Omni but I want a second opinion! RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-09-2017 Yu Kanda: https://wikimon.net/Choromon https://wikimon.net/Caprimon https://wikimon.net/Kotemon https://wikimon.net/Yaksamon https://wikimon.net/Kyukimon https://wikimon.net/Slash_Angemon We all know Yu Kanda fights to protect the innocent and is a master swordsman. Dedicating his life to his art has left him distant, jaded and a bit of a workaholic. As such, though he fights for the good of the people, he's a bit of a noob on the 'friends' front. So, Kotemon. This guy is like a cute little kendo teddy bear but he suuuuuuckks at swords. So I'm guessing Kanda would teach Kotemon how to sword and they would become friends and Kanda would learn how to nurture and that's eventually how you get to Slash Angemon who is the baest of all baedom. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Desman Black - 05-09-2017 I already looked for one myself, but I do want to see what someone else thinks. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-09-2017 Protoman: https://wikimon.net/Pitchmon https://wikimon.net/Tunomon https://wikimon.net/Elecmon https://wikimon.net/Starmon https://wikimon.net/Dark_Superstarmon https://wikimon.net/Darkdramon So, Protoman was difficult. It was hard to figure out what areas could be foiled, being that Alex writes him as so rounded, but I believe evidence at this point indicates that Protoman is a little bit listless. He needs someone who can kick his ass back into the Omniverse without being an overbearing father figure like Dr. Light. Basically, he needs a bff to replace Mickey. Elecmon and Starmon are both heavily invested in the fight for good, but are also easy-going and humble, so it was a good match. As for the higher end of this digivolution line, I was gonna contrive something about Protoman coming to terms with the darkness within him and accepting it, thus reflected in his partner...but... Mostly I just did it for the sunglasses and scarves. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Madotsuki - 05-09-2017 What about Madotsuki and Bendy? I was thinking that Maddy would have Impmon since they both express similar insecurities (hating being alone), but in different ways, and Bendy would have Gatomon for the devil-angel dynamic, but it's been forever since I played Digimon and I'm curious if there are better options. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-09-2017 Cloud:
https://wikimon.net/Leafmon https://wikimon.net/Minomon https://wikimon.net/Kokuwamon https://wikimon.net/Thunderballmon https://wikimon.net/Mamemon https://wikimon.net/Bancho_Mamemon There are plenty of digimon to choose from who are gleaming, sword-riddled, twelve-foot tall badasses. Cloud does not need any of them. We all know that Cloud is a bit of a whimsical stick in the mud, probably due to some seriously legitimate mental disorders including depression, PTSD, schizophrenia, anxiety, intermittent explosiveness, I could go on. The bottom line is that Cloud needs a digimon partner who is chipper, peppy and just goofy enough to keep him out of his moody funk, but who is also scrappy and hardcore enough to keep up with Cloud's insane battlefield antics. Mamemon fits that bill nicely, and on top of that Cloud could probably teach these firecracker digimon a thing or two about discipline and when to hold back. Say what you will about the blonde kid; he only fights when he really needs to. Mamemon just fights because there is a thing and maybe it will blow up real good. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-09-2017 Chara: https://wikimon.net/Kuramon https://wikimon.net/Pagumon https://wikimon.net/Gazimon https://wikimon.net/Devidramon https://wikimon.net/Mummymon https://wikimon.net/Deathmon Let us consider Chara: She is a childish, nearly omnipotent (in mind), sociopathic young girl with a split personality. Recent events have seen her edging more towards neutrality out of a desire to prevent the same mistakes that ruined her world happening in the Omniverse. Even if it's a totally selfish goal, this sort of thing takes determination, which Chara has plenty of, but also focus, which Chara does not have. The digivolution line I gave Chara seems sort of lackluster on the surface before you realize that its final stage results in a digimon that literally controls life and death on a whim. That sort of power requires a great deal of discernment and good judgement, so I would suspect that even as Gazimon, Chara's partner would exhibit many signs of self-control and mindfulness, despite being a bit of a crook on the surface. Normally, Chara is totally resistant to anyone giving her direct advice, but if it came from a perceived cohort, she might be willing to take it in. Inversely, Gazimon, Devidramon, and even Mummymon (to an extent) are usually considered cannon fodder in the digimon world. Chara is the sort of Prime that could encourage her partner to keep going, no matter how many times they get blasted to literal bits. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Daniel - 05-09-2017 Okay, a agree with cloud. Do minato as well?
RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-09-2017 Graowaaorwarrar: https://wikimon.net/Punimon https://wikimon.net/Nyaromon https://wikimon.net/Koemon https://wikimon.net/Hanumon https://wikimon.net/Gokuwmon https://wikimon.net/Agnimon Graowr is pretty similar to Cell, in that she is an impulsive power-house with a lot of potential intelligence. Unlike Cell, however, Graowr doesn't have the sort of global ambition to compel her to want to become stronger mentally. What can be seen is that her impulsiveness carries over not just into her decisions, but also her fighting. She is reckless, wild and aggressive, which works great on people who aren't prepared for her particular brand of crazy. So, in the interest of self-improvement, I needed to give her a digimon that had the energy and manic fortitude to keep up with her rubbery-ass on a daily basis, but also the sort of dedication to perfect technique and all that, which Graowr could use dearly. Koemon and Hanumon definitely fit the manic energy bill, and it was also important to pair her with a hardcore scrapper. As their relationship matures, however, we get to the likes of Gokuwmon, who is a complete martial-arts hardass. Graowr may be a bit of a ditz, but the day she gets her ass handed to her by one of her best friends in martial arts will be the day she might just decide to buckle down. In the mean time, I'm sure she'll have all sorts of nuttiness to keep the monkey entertained. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Handsome Jack - 05-09-2017 Graowr is pretty similar to Cell, in that she is an impulsive power-house with a lot of potential intelligence. Obviously meant to be. Assuming Cell and Meruem don't end up together RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-09-2017 Veritas: https://wikimon.net/Botamon https://wikimon.net/Pagumon https://wikimon.net/Lopmon https://wikimon.net/Dobermon https://wikimon.net/Cerberumon https://wikimon.net/Anubimon Veritas is a man who has been alone for much of his life. He's been shunned, shamed exiled and all the rest of those things. That makes any soul unhappy, but then he went and pissed off the wrong guys and was deemed a failure. What Veritas needs is someone who will love and accept him no matter what he does, win or lose. A loyal friend with unbridled compassion. Basically, dude needs a dog. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Dell Conagher - 05-09-2017 Is this still going on? If so can I get in on it? RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Todd Ingram - 05-09-2017 I love the ones you picked for Kanda, couldn't agree more, especially with slash angemon. And the best part of it all....my digimon would kick cell's digimon' ass. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-10-2017 Hiro: https://wikimon.net/Popomon https://wikimon.net/Frimon https://wikimon.net/Liollmon https://wikimon.net/Leomon https://wikimon.net/Panjyamon https://wikimon.net/Bancho_Leomon Having read Snowcrash, I can comfortably assert that Hiro Protagonist is neither a Hero, nor especially the sole Protagonist of his title. He is an anti-hero, for sure, pursuing his own agenda until he becomes indebted to a young woman, but I won't spoil the story. The bottom line is that the man is an utter pragmatist and has zero qualms about violating all rules of good sportsmanship. Being that he possesses all the qualities of a scoundrel without actually being any sort of predator, it seemed prudent to pair him with what ostensibly what is a predator with all the qualities of a nobleman. Leomon fits this bill nicely, on top of being a badass with a sword, which seems thematically appropriate. I regret that Panjyamon is basically just a palette swap for Leomon with a power boost, but the wibbly wobbly bullshit constraints of digivolution lines forced my hands. I could see Leomon's dedication to fair play and justice mixing with Hiro's direct and ends-justified tactics nicely, which culminates in Bancho Leomon. I cannot stress how MVP these two would be. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-10-2017 Victor: https://wikimon.net/Dodomon https://wikimon.net/Wanyamon https://wikimon.net/Gabumon https://wikimon.net/Centalmon https://wikimon.net/Assaultmon https://wikimon.net/Chaosdramon As tempting as it was to do the obvious and pair Victor with a bunch of canine digimon, I chose to follow a different path. Sorry in advance; no Beelzemon. Victor is, above all else, a gentleman of fortune. A pirate without a ship, if ever there was one. Though he did technically hold allegiance with New Babylon, that little gig has dried up at this point. So, Victor is set adrift again, just looking to make the next score. He needs someone who can ground him a little bit and help him find a consistent direction to go in, and Gabumon/Centalmon tend to epitomize sensibility and long-term planning. They stick to their guns, which is what Victor needs to learn to do, instead of running away and/or backstabbing people. Keeping this in mind, I turned Centalmon into Assaultmon; a digimon who is literally stuck to their guns. After that comes Chaosdramon, which basically symbolizes that, though Victor might eventually learn to cultivate some consistency, he should still value his freedom and spontaneity when it won't serve to sabotage him. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-10-2017 Illidan: https://wikimon.net/Pitchmon https://wikimon.net/Chapmon https://wikimon.net/Falcomon_(2006_Anime_Version) https://wikimon.net/Kougamon https://wikimon.net/Karatenmon https://wikimon.net/Valdurmon Illidan was an interesting Prime to find a partner for, because he teeters so heavily on the line between totally evil and maybe not completely horrible. A Prime's outlook and morality can have a serious impact on the way their digimon evolve, so it was hard at times to decide whether I should go lighter or darker. Being the person that I am, I did neither, and took the middle path. Above all, I wanted a stealthy partner that could keep themselves hidden and play along with Illidan's strengths of stealth and mobility. The ninja aspect of this digi-line are pretty apparent, but it also offers a 'death from above' element that I think would mesh with Illidan's abilities nicely. More importantly, I think Illidan still sort of have doubts about being the new kid in town around dracula's castle. I think it would do him a world of good to have someone around that he knows he can trust intrinsically. A digimon partner can do just that, and being that Kougamon won't get in his way, Illidan and his partner will probably get along swell. As for Valdurmon, well, that's just in case Illidan is able to cling to that final spark of good in his heart and let it shine through his digimon. The other options were all laaaaame. Jim: https://wikimon.net/Yukimi_Botamon https://wikimon.net/Moonmon https://wikimon.net/Lunamon https://wikimon.net/Lekismon https://wikimon.net/Andiramon https://wikimon.net/Valkyrimon Jim Raynor is a well-rounded, conscious, humble, easy-going, goal oriented soldier with solid training and a person who is unafraid to give his opinion. That's all good. Now if only the man would take care of himself. Jimmy boy needs a nurturing hand who will help him to learn that sometimes it's okay to put yourself first, and maybe lay off the booze and cigars. Jim's overall content demeanor is a heavy-set mask for some deep depression, and a digimon partner would be able to glean this quickly. Lunamon and Lekismon are intrinsically nurturing and might help cure some of Raynor's deep-rooted world weariness. Of course, they can also totally throw down when necessary. I'm not sure Jim knows how to live with a different kind of woman. Jim, on the other hand, could probably teach his motherly partner a thing or two about relaxing. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Carn_Val - 05-10-2017 Me please. pair for Carn. RE: Digimon Partnering Thread - Tearen Wover - 05-10-2017 Sans: https://wikimon.net/Zerimon https://wikimon.net/Gummymon https://wikimon.net/Bakumon https://wikimon.net/Dark_Lizamon https://wikimon.net/Skull_Satamon https://wikimon.net/Beelzebumon Sans is actually very similar to Jim Raynor in disposition and outlook. The difference is that whereas Jim is constantly fighting to stay invested in the world around him, Sans gave up a long time ago. The older skele-bro has kept himself out of the game for a long time, so he needs someone who will inspire him to get back into the thick of things. Bakumon is a good start for this. He's an earnest, caring digimon who will be able to get close to Sans fairly easily. Once they're pals, Sans will find that his friend's digivolutions become progressively darker and edgier, without his partner's disposition changing drastically. If anyone deserves an edgelord for a friend, it's Sans. Someone to help him learn that it's okay to dwell on your own problems and trust that the world will be okay. Dark is not evil, and this is a lesson that Sans sorely needs to relearn. |
