RE: A world without He-man - Skeletor - 07-07-2016

The battle was joined almost before Skeletor had even stopped his horse. The stormtroopers pulling to a halt, and opening fire. There were grunts from the warriors and whinnies of pain and fear as laser fire spread over the Camelot soldiers. Horses reared, some fell. The Night Elf brought her men back under control, and some dismounted, tower shields out to defend against the blaster fire. Slowly they began to advance. Those horsemen still mounted and uninjured began to pull back, they were only targets now. To Skeletor’s left a bolt of lightning seared through the air, blazing white on white across the blankness of the Nexus. The bolt struck one of the speeders, and a satisfyingly lethal explosion ensued.
One of the Camelot soldiers went down, then a few of the horsemen retaliated with a volley of arrows. There were shouts of pain from the Imperial line, but neither side was ready to retreat. Skeletor noticed a red streak racing towards them at a surprising pace.  Another stranger leapt from his motorcycle, sending the vehicle crashing into the Imperial forces. The red-garbed man rolled to his feet and took up a position near the rest of the Camelot forces. The Asgardian greeted him warmly before sending his hammer flying towards a white-clad soldier.

Another ally… Skeletor thought, as he waited behind the Camelot line. The Asgardian was amassing quite a number of friends, and Skeletor knew that he was not yet strong enough to face them all. The Overlord of Evil surveyed the situation with a strategist’s eye. Thor and the new red warrior were engaging the enemy, along with the bulk of the warriors. One of the knights had already fled with the boy, his horse racing across the Nexus behind them. The Green-haired girl was still on her horse, watching the battle with an expression Skeletor could not discern, something between boredom and fascination. The Night Elf hung back with a few of the warriors, still mounted, shouting orders and coordinating the battle. The medieval warriors had the advantage, now in both numbers and firepower, but there was no room for error, as the Imperial forces had been trained for situations just like this. It was clear from their disciplined and concentrated fire; they had a plan. They’re just waiting for the right opportunity… Skeletor thought with a slight chuckle. His magic energy had replenished slightly and he began charging his Havoc staff.

The Night Elf watched the battle unfold with growing unease. She too had noticed the Imperial resolve was unusually strong.  As she watched another speederbike exploded from a few well-placed shots to the fuel tank. The red-helmed soldier barely pausing before turning his deadly pistols on one of the more accurate Imperial soldiers. They hadn’t started to retreat yet, despite the fact that the Shieldwall was only a short distance from their position.  She scanned the soldiers, trying to gain some insight. There! One of the stormtroopers glanced behind him, as he reloaded. That was all the information she needed, they had more reinforcements coming. She scanned the horizon of the Nexus, there were no large groups approaching, but she could make out a glint of metal approaching quickly from the Fountain.
From the corner of her eye she saw a movement, and the green-haired prime’s voice ask, “Hey, what are you doing?” a short distance away. On instinct she jerked the reins of her horse and the mount reared, lifting her away from the magical bolt, the blast searing through the air where she had just been. She turned in alarm to watch the hooded figure spurring his stead away from the battle, in a direction that may have been headed towards the Pale Moors, though she doubted the newly summoned prime would know that. “Catch him!” she shouted towards two of the nearest warriors, highly doubting they would be enough to capture a violent primeShe wheeled her horse back around and rode towards the front line. Blaster screeches ripped the air around her as she neared. “Knight of Lordaeron!” she called as she neared the Prince of Asgard.  “Your charge is fleeing!”

RE: A world without He-man - Rin - 07-07-2016

It was an unusual battle to the she dwarf. Rin was used to bar fights and the dirty grit of the battlefield, not this pansy, long ranged trade of blows going on here. As expected of elves. They can't even fight properly.
A blast of heat and air rushed forth as another speeder exploded. That was pretty though. The destructive power was inspiring.
A lazer bolt sizzled past Rin's ear, leaving a few burnt hairs floating in the emptiness of the nexus. She needed to pay attention, or she'd loose her head. Maybe follow that solider and the boy from before. She was no good here.
Rin looked around at the horsemen around her. They were holding there own, but not on the offensive. No wonder they were loosing. They were just holding their ground idly. Skullface was next to her, charging his staff with magic. Maybe he would charge the enemy. Or at least do something useful. But the staff was suddenly pointed at the elf leader.
Rin barely managed to ask him why when the magic shot forth from the staff, shooting through the elf's head. Or it would have, had pointy ears not dodged at the last second.
Skullface jerked his horse to the side, then spurred it off at a sprint away from the battle. Apparently he hated elves too.
"Where are you going? Hold up!" Rin struggled with the reins, trying to coax the horse after Skullface's fleeing form. The horse refused to budge. Rin threw her hands up in frustration as two guards shot of in pursuit as the elf's command. "Come on you stupid horse, move!" It neighed and scrapped it's hooves against the ground anxiously.
Suddenly, sniper fire, sizzled over the horses rear, searing off the top most layer of fur and skin. The horse freaked, eyes rolling back as it charged off. Rin yelped as she tumbled over the saddle, barely grabbing on to the cantle to keep herself from falling off completely. The horse's powerful muscles moved swiftly beneath her, traveling over flat ground in a blind direction. Rin grunted in effort, as she strained to pull herself back into the saddle. But the wind resistance was strong, and she slipped off the back completely, hanging off the side, feet moving desperately through open air.
She could feel her fingers sliding off the leather of the cantle, her grip getting worse and her palms getting sweatier. Her teeth grinded together painfully as she looked down, boots desperately reaching for the stirrups. At last, her foot found wood and she pushed against it, using the resistance to re-grip the cantle with one hand. The other hand she used to grab the horn. It was good enough until the horse stopped. It would have to stop sometime... right?
Rin squinted into the wind, caused by the horses movement. Skullface's back rode ahead of her, pursued by the two guards. She smiled widely. At least the horse was moving now.

RE: A world without He-man - Thor - 07-16-2016

Thor spun his Hammer atop his horse as he charged toward the white armored warriors. Blaster shots streamed past the God of Thunder as his spinning weapon deflected those that might have found their mark. He knew the necromancer would not be a helpful ally, but he did expect that he would refrain from aiding the enemy. So when Thor heard the attack on his comrades and saw Skeletor riding away on the horse the God of Thunder had given him Thor was rightfully enraged. His anger was fanned by the bolt that struck his own horse, causing him to crash to the ground. He stood up and tossed his Hammer, striking a trooper from its vehicle and sending the glorified hover-bike careening into another mounted trooper causing them to cash in a fiery blast. Thor caught his Hammer and raised his other hand at the horse that Skeletor was fleeing on. His horse. Then he saw that the green-haired dwarf girl was also fleeing with the necromancer. He gritted his teeth. The massive muscles in his outstretched arms tensed. The horses shuddered and looked back, frightened. A bolt of energy struck Thor. The two mounted primes yanked on their respective reins and the steeds continued to flee. Thor did not know how quickly or from how far away he could extract Omnilium. However, as he brought his might Maul crashing into another enemy helmet he was sure of one thing. He could not do anything with Omilium under fire. He saw Red dancing throw the battlefield switching between blades and guns with the occasional flash-bang thrown in to cover his tactical withdrawals from cluster fire. Thor noticed Red was making his way toward the God of Thunder, and before Thor knew it Red was fighting at his back.

“I saw the two runners. I can grab a speeder and chase them, but I think we might have a bigger problem.”

The speck in the distance had been growing with its speedy approach and now came to a screeching halt. The door flung open and a man covered in metal emerged looked at the battlefield shouted something that made the troopers back off, then blasted Red sending him flying. Thor raised his Hammer to deflect the blast, but the half-machine just turned the single shot into a continued stream and it was not long before the Thunder God to was forced back by the blast. The metal man’s voice boomed as he spoke as if he had a megaphone.

“Thor and Red-Hood, come quietly to face the Justice of the Empire or you will leave me with no choice but to bring you in by force.”

Thor looked at Red.

“Yes. That is a bigger problem, indeed.”

RE: A world without He-man - Damien Darhk - 07-20-2016

It was strange seeing the red helmed man in the Omniverse, although it appeared that this Red Hood was a younger one from the one he knew back home, however it was safe to assume he was just as dangerous.

Red climbed to his feet and joined in on the staring contest Cyborg was having with the one called Thor.

"Well? Are you going to come peacefully or will we have to this the hard way?" Cyborg said calmly through his amplified module attached to his vocal cords.  Judging from how Hood looked he was injured and was in no shape to fight the prime. After a moment of whispered conversation the the vigilante and asguardian turned and ran for the Camelot gate.

Cyborg immediately began firing on the criminals and managed to clip Thor's leg before they both dived through the gate. Cyborg began to run towards the gate in pursuit.

"Sir! We have no jurisdiction there! We can't pursue, the Kingdom would see our presence as an invasion and deal with us accordingly. We have to retreat." One of the stormtroopers yelled as he ran past. Grimly Cyborg stopped in his tracks. He was right if course. He watched as the other warriors from the kingdom enter the gate, cautiously still watching their foes.

"Well at least the casualties are low. Guess we have no other choice but to return to Courscant" Cyborg said with distaste. The cybernetic man wasn't looking forward to returning to a verse so filled with corruption

RE: A world without He-man - Skeletor - 07-21-2016

Skeletor rode with determined purpose. He would not be held prisoner to such paltry foes, not when they were paying so little attention. The fools, as soon as the strange white soldiers had arrived he was treated as inconsequential. He would show them the error of their ways. But for now he had to focus on making good on this opportunity to escape. He glanced behind, noting that three riders were still following. The Strange girl from before and two of the accursed allies of that Thor. They were clearly more experienced horsemen, and they were steadily gaining on Skeletor as the four of them left the growing battle behind. Skeletor wasn’t sure where he was planning to go, but the urgency with which the two warriors pursed him suggested it was not somewhere they wanted him to be. All the more reason to go then. The warriors were proving irksomely persistent however, he would need to do something about them…

Skeletor pulled his horse to a halt, perhaps harder than he should have, for the horse reared and Skeletor nearly fell from his saddle. The Warlock steadied himself and turned to face his hunters.  the two pursuers also pulled to a halt, eyeing the prime warily. The girl was not riding her horse so much as simply staying off the ground while it carried her. As she caught up, the horse showed no signs of stopping, its nostrils flaring as it charged blindly away from the battle. Making a quick decision, the prime let herself drop from the horse as she neared the stand-off, managing to land more or less on her feet.

One of the Camelot soldiers, another of those ‘Elves’ if the large pointed ears were anything to go by, addressed the Warlock with a clear caution.  “Stop this madness, prime! We were here to assist you!” he called out, as his companion, a human in equally well-used chainmail, pulled out a crossbow. The man was not so foolish as to point it directly at Skeletor, but the hooded prime took note of the action. “We will give you one chance to come back to Camelot with us. Maybe you can explain your actions to the Commander. Though I would doubt it” the elf added under his breath as he stared down the skeletal face of his quarry.

“Back to Camelot?” Skeletor asked with what seemed to be almost mocking surprise, “How will we get there when your friends have all fled?” The two warriors looked back to see the Kingdoms forces retreating in a semi-organized fashion through the gate, harried the whole way by the Imperial assault. Taking advantage of their momentary dismay, Skeletor raised his staff and began to charge a blast.

To their credit, the warriors returned their attention to the prime sooner than Skeletor was expecting. The human leveling his crossbow, while the elf pulled out a very antique-looking pistol. “Not a move.” The Elf ordered. Skeletor considered firing the blast anyway, hoping he could take the hit and finish the other one.
But there was no telling what the green-haired girl would do.

She had fought with the white-clad soldiers briefly, but Skeletor had been too distracted to assess her abilities. She seemed far too at home in this strange a situation to assume she would be someone he could easily overpower. With a slow, deliberate action, Skeletor let his havoc staff drop, bouncing slightly as it connected with the marble-like floor of the Nexus. At the Elf’s next command, he dismounted, hands out and open. The Fools, to assume he would surrender to such lowly rabble as themselves…

Skeletor began amassing what power he could, making sure that his actions were invisible to those not trained in the Arcane arts. The two warriors kept their weapons trained, but the elf risked another glance back towards the Gate. The Imperial forces had pushed the rest of Camelot’s warriors back, but seemed hesitant to press the attack further. There was no indication that they had spotted the four of them here in the distance, though there was no way to be sure of that. “They seem to be pulling back from the Gate,” he said to his companion. “I think we’ve got this situation under control,” he said gesturing to Skeletor and Rin, who was simply standing there pleased with herself for having kept up during the horse race. “Perhaps we can take these two…” He trailed off as he felt his arm lifting.

“One shouldn’t leave loaded weapons unattended…” a voice said gleefully as the Elf glanced back from the gate. Looking in surprise he saw his own pistol aimed directly at his companion, whose crossbow was aimed at him as well. He glanced from his flintlock, which refused to move, to his fellow warrior who seemed equally unable to budge his weapon. “People can get hurt when their Arms aren’t looked after.” The Elf felt a force pushing his finger, moving it closer to the trigger despite his best efforts to resist it.

A crossbow twanged, its sound drowned out by the sharp crack of the flintlock firing. The Elf gave a cry of pain, and his arm was released, dropping to his side as he clutched his forearm where the bolt had struck.  Through pain-misted vision he could see his companion, slumped over in his saddle, a bloody spot in his stomach growing redder as he watched. The Skeletal prime stood impassive, his constant grin unwavering. “You… Monster…” the elf managed to growl.

“That’s hardly original,” the prime laughed as his hands glowed with eldritch energy, “But then I don’t know why I would expect anything more from such paltry opposition.” He mused, before firing a blast of energy directly into the elf’s chest, knocking from the saddle to crash heavily onto the Nexus floor.

Skeletor turned away from the elf's smoking body, his havoc staff flying back to his hand.  it did not matter whether they were dead or not, they wouldn’t be chasing him any longer. He glanced at his destination, a strangely mossy archway, whose gray stone stood out in the stark whiteness of the Nexus. The Warlock was planning to remount when he remembered the Green-haired girl. He turned to regard her, eyes glowing with red balefire. He was done with interruptions. “Your move, Girl.” He said evenly.

RE: A world without He-man - Rin - 07-29-2016

The gunshot rang through the emptiness. The smile dropped from Rin's face as the human solider drooped in his saddle, the life fading quickly from his eyes until they were nothing but dull glass. Energy zapped from Skullface's hands into the elf's chest. The elf too, was silenced. Silence filled the whiteness, save for the sounds of dying conflict in the distance from the gate they had come from. The motionless bodies sat on the blank void like black holes sucking in the darkness. It was impossible to turn away.
"You killed them."
Rin stared at the two guards. They didn't awaken suddenly, or spring back to life. They just sat there.
"They were just doing their job, why did you kill them, Skullface?" She looked up into the cold hollow eyesockets. "You're evil." Her face remained as motionless as his, but Rin could feel the anger bubbling up inside her. Anger and power.
They had done nothing to warrant such violence. And he enjoyed it. Skeletor enjoyed making those soldiers kill each other. Like a quickly rising tide, the power welled, moving from her gut and spread up to her lungs. And as it filled her core, Rin's eyes flashed with danger and her eyes clasped together in front of her chest.
Skeletor raised his havoc staff in realization, but a moment too late. White energy was released, shocking forth in every direction. The white ground cracked underneath Rin's feet, which shook as her legs trembled from exhaustion. Through bleary vision she could see Skeletor flat on his back a distance away, thrown by the blast.
She hadn't used that much power since she had escaped the fanfiction site. Her breath came in ragged gasps. The ground suddenly tilted sharply to meet the side of her face. Consciousness left her.

RE: A world without He-man - Skeletor - 08-05-2016

Skeletor’s non-existent eyes widened as power welled up in the girl. Where had this been when they were fleeing the soldiers? Before he could react, blazing energy burst out of her, sending him flying. He landed heavily, recent injuries from his tussle with the thunder-god crying out in protest as he collided with the hard cold floor of the Nexus. He growled, rolling back to his feet, “That was the wrong choice, Girl! For you will find that I am…” the Skull-faced warlord trailed off mid-rant as he noticed the prone unmoving form of his opponent. “er... well then...” The warlock said, with the slightest hint of disappointment. Skeletor waited for a moment, preparing for a sudden revival or a surprise plan to be enacted. One of the horses nickered impatiently, as Skeletor stood there, looking dumbfounded.

The green-haired girl was definitely unconscious, and Skeletor briefly considered what to do with the three incapacitated figures around him. He could take the living ones prisoner, demanding untold riches for their safe return, but he had little concept of the power that they worked for, and no place where he could hold the captives in the meantime. No, for now, he was too out of his element to enact any such schemes. Perhaps he should kill them, cover his tracks, Thor had seemed quite quick to apprehend him, the Thunderer would not simply abandon his pursuit would he? But in truth, Skeletor did not fear the Asgardian prince, he had been taken by surprise, and still was only moments away from victory when the other soldiers had shown up and ruined everything. No, it would be better for Thor to know exactly where he had gone. Perhaps Skeletor would take him by surprise in their next encounter. It was only fair. Turning his back on the three prone forms, Skeletor made his way to the moss-covered gate.

RE: A world without He-man - Rin - 08-14-2016

Consciousness returned, along with the nausea and headache that consumed the senses, making one feel weak and lost. Rin forced her eyes open, only for them to be assaulted by the bright whiteness. Her movements came slowly. She waded through the pea soup than clung to her limbs. Skullface was gone. She had released all her power and it couldn't even defeat one half dead necromancer. The two bodies of the soldiers remained. Rin couldn't leave them there like that. To decay or who knows what else in this void.
It felt like hours ticked past. The soldiers were dragged and shoved onto one of the horses backs. Rin had to jump to reach the reins. But once they were in her grasp the horse complied more or less willingly, following behind Rin with loud hoof falls. It was unnerving at first, to have such a large animal following behind her, but the she dwarf got used to it.
She found herself heading back the way she had come. The large stone gate through which the soldiers and their troop had first come. They may be her enemies, maybe her allies. At this point it was hard to tell at all. But they died in battle, more or less, they deserved a warriors burial.
The battle from earlier had dissipated during the minutes or hours she had spent unconscious and no one bothered Rin and her charge on the way to the gate. She stood there, trying to peer into the world on the other side. Nothing could be seen. She would just have to risk it. Rin tightened her grip on the horses reins and stepped through the portal.
