Re: Regeneration - Minato Namikaze - 10-01-2015

Desco Wrote:The issue is more that Regen didn't do much when Super Moves had set damage, healing only a fraction of what Super Move always did, and now Super Moves can potentially do a lot more damage so healing has even less of an effect.

Should just remove SP from the Regen and Healing power altogether and let the narrative play out without these game mechanics getting in the way and SP use for Regen/Healing can be for Super Moves based on Regen or Healing.

Problem with that is that you'll have people growing limbs back and healing life threatening lacerations in a matter of seconds, the SP use is there to stop people from abusing it. Otherwise we'd have to go into it and balance it out by putting timers/ post counts as well as major stat requirements in the description of the Regen power that indicates how long it takes to do heal those sorts of wounds.

Besides, you're all forgetting one thing (save Proto, he'd know this better than anyone)... Omni is still working on improving and updtating the site, he's given no reason to make us think that the Regen power isn't on his list of changes. For now, it is what it is and there's no point in debating it.

But to answer Ururu's question;

During battle, depending on the level of Regen combined with your defense, and if you're not using SP, I would say that Regen could probably only have an effect on average - non fatal cuts and bruises (it'd still be relatively slow in the sense of how long a fight usually lasts). If you got run through with a sword, or one of your limbs were half/fully detached, it wouldn't have much of an effect unless you chose to spend SP.

Re: Regeneration - Thaal Sinestro - 10-01-2015

I'm honestly really really fuzzy on the HP system, Super Moves and overall "guaranteed minimums/maximums" for anything. Regeneration is the ONLY Power or Move on the site that actually lists a set amount of damage, so I'm not really sure what the baseline here is.

I would understand if Damage was just a narrative tool, because arbitrary is something to work off of. But it's not. It's supposed to NOT be arbitrary, but there's nothing to really derive a standard from. With that in mind, this entire conversation is just... sorta pointless, because we're making assumptions about a system for which there is no measure.
