Only if nothing is happening to their body. At least that's what I was told. If nothing is going to happen to the body then it doesn't stick around... so technically our corpses are precognitionly aware of their own destiny.

I was under the impression bodies dissipate into OM reasonably soon after death.

Aye they would disperse into OM which will reform at the fountain. I will obviously leave this ruling up to angels or higher. But i dont think bodies just keep laying around for the pickup.

Bodies turn into OM upon death. Every time.

You might also want to inform someone ahead of time if you're going to try and defile their corpse?

And hasn't this already been graded? The post I'm working on has no bearing on anything except my personal jazz.

And yet it also is supposed to linger long enough that it can be banished if the person tries to suicide out?

Seriously that's really contradictory.

Well guess Tom will be surprised when he only ends up with some clothes and an eyepatch when he goes to retrieve Orion's body from his dimensional hammerspace.

Not really, Staying around long enough to banish someone doesn't necessarily mean the body sticks around for long enough to steal it and do tests on it/ study it.
