A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 06-17-2016

Quote:Coruscant, Tier 1. A few minutes before entering the Endless Dunes
Natural sand.
It was quite the sight for someone who came from a planet of pure snowstorms and iced oceans. Sand was filled to the brim in pictures, entire swaths of land covered in sand, even continents! It was hard to imagine that even an entire world would only be covered in sand and rock. Kalli heard of the stories, of the expeditions from her species homeworld, brave souls who ventured into the unknown to find new habitable worlds. Much of these stories started off with sorrow, tales of entire crews dying before reaching their designated systems, colony ships exploding as they couldn't handle the crushing atmosphere, wildlife killing off entire cities. It was all so horrifying when she was young, content with staying inside and dealing with the malfunctioning heaters.
But something kept gnawing at her, a desire to see more, know more- something that her life just didn't provide. Those stories of horrible deaths became stories of respect, strong admiration having grown for those who braved the unknown. Heroes who dared to do anything despite the warnings. Those who perished became idols to her, much to the worries of her mother and her father, though the latter was too busy staying alive in a war zone a whole continent away to actually worry about his daughter.
She felt like one of those heroes, something that she didn't feel while serving as a supposed 'agent' of the organization she was conscripted into. To actually have braved the unknown, this multiversal place, it felt great. She couldn't comprehend why, blood was shed here and enough evidence left to paint her a vigilante, but it felt like real progress. If not for society, then for her, some sort of change that made her better than who she was before. This was certainly ignorance and a lack of empathy for others, but it didn't make her any less worthy of being courageous in her own mind.

Laughably- for someone who felt like a hero -she hadn't even moved through the gate yet.

The citizen behind Kalli rolled his eyes, saying "Excuse me, madam?" while waiting for her to awaken from the long thought process she was going through.
Kalli blinked, shaking her head as if she had suddenly awaken "Oh, right." she replied to the citizen, moving forward in the line that lead to the gate.
The Endless Dunes gate was quite a masterpiece. Not that the gate was rather beautiful to look at, but much rather all the protection surrounding it. An entire checkpoint of stormtroopers surrounded the gate, impatient as well with how slow their day felt. The process to get through was fast and violent, the soldiers taking no time to dawdle. If you were too slow, they'd push you and yell, if you were too fast they'd stop you in your place and pat you down for any contraband, suspicious why someone would be so eager to leave Coruscant. If someone was smart, they'd just follow right behind and do as ordered with little dialogue as possible. Kalli hoped to be so fortunate, but that skirmish in Tier 4 already cost her any privacy in this place.
No solid evidence showed up to prove Kalli one of the shooters who assassinated the leader of a gang. Only one man was left alive, and while he spoke of two primes, one being a small rabbit and the other a tall avian, no one actually accused Kalli of being one of those primes. Was the Empire's soldiers being careless about Tier 4, or just that there were too many non-humans here? Maybe she was given a free pass for not having harmed any law abiding citizens in the process, or maybe judgement was coming and she didn't see it. Kalli didn't want to know either way. She had too much pride in her work, rather worryingly so considering it involved the death of people, mortal beings.
"Next!" The private yelled, another individual would walk forward and get assigned a place to be patted down and scanned by their security system. Those who came back through the gate were even more thoroughly checked then those leaving, though fellow stormtroopers seemed to get it easy when coming back from deployment in the Dunes. "Next!" The trooper yelled again, barely looking up from his datapad as someone walked over. The line continued to decrease until Kalli was the one next.
"Alright, you're a prime, system says level two..." the trooper continued to mutter on about the datapad's contents. He finished quickly, still not looking up despite addressing Kalli "You'll be assigned over th-"
A clatter of boots, loud, noisy, like a parade. It caught almost all the citizens off guard, though the garrisoned troopers here seemed to be at ease about it. The boots kept getting louder until an entire platoon of stormtroopers- thirty men it seemed -walked into Coruscant, carrying more sand with them which piled up on the outskirts of the gate. Soldiers yelled for people to make room, and some even watched as they walked passed, both in awe and in horror.
The entire platoon seemed to be beaten and bruised, with some dried blood on their armor as well. A unlucky individual at the front was without his right arm, his fatigues folded up while his face was plentiful with cuts. If those at the checkpoint hadn't been informed of the platoon's arrival earlier, they would've all been rushing up in order to deliver medical attention. Not like the platoon didn't receive medical attention already- Carrefore probably had it's fair share of medics and a actual facility to help the wounded. But whatever supplies they got couldn't wash their armor, or remove any permanent damage. The platoon itself was stopped after walking a fair distance from the gate, being confronted by the checkpoint commander who showed great respect to them, simply making sure they were given the permit to return from deployment before walking out of their way. The gate went back to normal as if the bruised soldiers never walked past, but Kalli couldn't get the sight of that one-armed soldier out of her head.

"A tip, prime," the private began "don't end up like that unit. And a better idea, don't end up dead." he then began to chuckle as if death was a joke, but either his mortality as a secondary- or maybe the brutality of living over and over again that primes dealt with -made him sigh with sadness or pity. "Move, your position is marked by the blue light." He pointed toward the horizontal line of people, a blue light at the end of said line. Kalli followed the order silently, looking back at the platoon until it disappeared into a transport.
Were those the heroes she admired, embodied in another species? People who lost much in the name of their nation? She began to doubt herself, as well as hating how she thought she was being some sort of courageous individual for committing to exploration. This verse was dangerous enough with armed gangsters, it seemed disturbing that something even worse could be ahead.

***

Despite expectations, this wasn't a desert. Nor was it trying to kill her.
Yet.

A savanna, sparse grasslands and trees with some few wildlife drinking from puddles of water, the more predatory chasing after fellow non-sentient animals, dots chasing each other in the distance. There was plenty of shade, thankfully, but none of it too often to make this place feel safe from the sun's rays, it didn't help that Kalli was already sweating under her combat vest. "Something lighter would be nice." She thought to herself, annoyed with the weight of the vest that she was instantly exhausted by. It wasn't all unpleasant, her fatigues offering protection from the one or two flies desperately trying to land themselves on her arms or legs, but it didn't help that the air kept getting blocked from such fatigues. Her equipment clattered against her as well, pouches of ammunition and shield devices making their own jingle as she walked. Unpleasant as it was, she at least felt prepared in case one of the wild beasts decided to try and take a chunk out of her.
This gate was unlike that back at Coruscant, no massive checkpoint, only four soldiers and their officer, all of who were silent. Their eyes did the speaking for them, watching with suspicion as each person moved through the gate, no matter if they were unarmed, armed, prime or secondary. They didn't trust this place, nor did they trust the checkpoint on the other side, only their instinct, reflexes and their weapons. And they didn't need to speak to be aggressive, merely staring them in the eye felt like a death sentence. Kalli only exchanged quick glances each, moving forward toward the metal sign that was ahead of the gate, right next to the road.
"Carrefore Region" the words were underlined, also the largest on the sign "Carrefore Village" was below it, a arrow pointing upward to where the road was leading. The village couldn't be seen with the naked eye, a dot on the horizon as it were (if no clutter was in the way) but with binoculars, one could easily see the tan buildings and local civilians. While Kalli couldn't quite well guess the distance, it felt unhealthy to not pack herself with extra supplies. Standing a bit to the side, she began the three minute process of summoning up two more canteens of water, as well as a energy bar. While the material began to take form, the stormtroopers kept a close eye on Kalli, one even taking some few steps closer in silence, keeping his rifle in a tight grip. The prime couldn't tell if she was sweating over the heat, or over the pressure of having armed soldier watch over her.
The process continued, the civilians who arrived remaining to observe the summoning with intrigue for only a second before walking along the road, as well as one lucky individual meeting up with a comrade who had a truck waiting for them. After all the movement with everyone beginning their trip toward Carrefore, Kalli was finally done summoning her extra supplies. The stormtrooper double checked what was on the ground before turning about on his heels and walking back to his position at the gate. Eagerly gathering what she had summoned, Kalli attached the canteens to her belt- making a quick snack of the energy bar -and made her move toward Carrefore, keeping some short distance behind the other citizens from Coruscant. Some talked loudly, others kept quiet, one or two armed and watching any animals in the grass, all the while walking toward the village that grew ever closer. Dust still settling from those who rode in a truck.
Despite the exhaustion it was taking to go through the savanna, it was very uneventful, so much so that the casual talk that was happening grew in volume. Laughter was even occurring among the secondaries, at least the small group of unarmed ones. All of them talking as if they were in no danger. Kalli maintained her silence, observing the scenery with expressionless enjoyment, finally away from the constant stress of being under watch by the Empire, for now. As well as being able to breathe true clean air! That was reason enough to stay here for some time before exploring another verse.

The band of strangers reached it's destination. Carrefore- the village that is -a place of some civilized people in the midst of this savanna. A few stormtroopers stood guard at the entrance, one on a roof stop with their rifle at the edge, watching out over the savanna's grassland for any threats. Meanwhile vehicles rushed on through the entrance, Kalli and the rest making room for them to drive on in. She saw their markings, Empire, just like these soldiers. "How much territory does this 'Empire' have?" She thought to herself once more, waiting for the kicked up sand and dirt to settle before moving on into Carrefore. Walking on what could arguably be called a sidewalk, she kept her pace, slipping between civilians in search of a hostel of sorts, someplace for her to rest and change her apparel. Such a place didn't appear for quite some time, and the fact she ran out of water while getting to this place didn't help.
Afternoon was settling in as well, the grasslands outside were slowly fading into the darkness, the yellow light that would glitter the water steadily fading and retreating back to the horizon. Adrenaline kept her upright luckily, her body just as eager as her to find a place safe to sleep in. Never did she dare intrude on the silent civilians who lived here however, all of them kept to themselves it seemed, quietly and respectfully moving about their daily business. Surely if there was a market or shop communication was there, but otherwise, it was a peaceful silence. Such silence she didn't want to interrupt with questions.

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 06-18-2016

She had walked her afternoon away, the windy outskirts that were thoroughly guarded, the deep interior where people would walk or chat quietly. Even the marketplace which had more than it's fair share of oddities right next to those who sold natural food. None of these places held a sign that represented a place to sleep, all just short, tan structures placed right next to each other, forming street after street. The streets themselves short like the buildings, with the entrances and exits to the town easily seen a block away. Kalli's adrenaline had run dry, a near limp now while walking down the empty sidewalk, her eyes too tired to be kept wide open. Energy from her legs kept fading in and out, especially with the muscles hurting with this endless exploration. Slowly lifting her feathered head upward, the prime blinked, her eyesight adjusting to the lamp that shined on the front door, a sign to it's right with the words etched in wood- "Carrefore Hostel"

Finally! Her nerves in her legs disappeared as each was lifted and placed on the steps, only to reawaken once pressure was applied. Climbing up and opening the door, her talons delicately touched the wooden floorboards that were in the brief darkness. Once she had entered, the glaring light outside faded, her eyes seeing table after table, accompanied by chair after chair. After a second of staring, the door behind her shut loudly, the clang making the accountant look up from her book. Kalli forgot this was a hostel for a brief moment, the place seeming so alike to the fantastical inns spoken of in stories. Walking toward the counter, she asked tiredly "Hello, I was wondering if you had a bed I could use for the night."
"Well that depends, do you have the cash?" The accountant replied
"Cash?"
"Yes, cash, local income. We don't just serve the homeless."

Kalli paused, staring blankly like as if she was just accused of committing a crime. Constantly feeling her numerous pockets and pouches in pretend that she had something. The prime eventually stopped after giving a nervous chuckle "Right, money..."
The accountant looked at her in silence, clearly not entertained. Admitting the truth, the prime sighed "I'll summon up the local currency, one minute-"

This time, it was the accountants turn to seem like she had been accused of something evil. Her face of pure surprise, looking at Kalli from behind the counter, slowly getting out of her chair while keeping her surprise steadily went from wide eyes to a guarded look. "Summon?" The accountant asked "As in, how a prime would summon a weapon?" her hands clenched into fists before unrolling again, both being placed onto the counter while leaning forward. "Your kind isn't served here, not in this establishment." the voice was cold, threatening, as hostile as the violent winds that howled in the distance. The prime stopped moving entirely, pausing to get her exhausted brain set straight.

"You have a problem with primes?" Kalli asked.
The accountant pointed some pictures behind her, numerous people in each one, groups of smiling friends and relatives "Yes, I do. WE do. All of those people behind me? They all are like me, secondaries, people who live and die by the words of that cursed god which brings you back from the dead. Those faces you see in the pictures? I can name off each one of those people, all of them having died because of devils like you constantly stalking the sands for omnilium." she lowered her arm, looking up at the prime with disgust "Get out, I don't want your kind here. Diablo, primes, Omni, all the same. I'm not serving you just like how I didn't serve the prime who summoned me. Get lost."

Diablo? Kalli took a step back, not familiar with the name but nonetheless feeling insulted. Continuing to stare at the angered woman, the prime shook her head "I'm not like them. I don't know who Omni is- aside from it bringing me here -and Diablo isn't even a word I'm familiar with. I assure you, I just need a place to sleep. My motives are-"
The woman yelled back increasing in volume, further powered by the anger on her face. "Your motives don't matter! You're all the same, immortal, careless murderers who pride themselves on power! I said get lost, which means GET OUT."

The door opened again, this time slamming shut as Kalli powered her way down the steps and began to walk down the sidewalk, the cold night air brushing against her feathers while making her way toward a nearby exit out of the town. Her mind just wishing to leave this place already from that encounter, embarrassed, frustrated, confused, they were all there swirling in her head, blocking any proper thought to be had. Well, any thought that wasn't listing off more insults to be tossed at the accountant. The prime's quick march lead her to witness the parked convoy outside the town, as well as it's people all huddled around a campfire while exchanging words. Kalli took a quick turn left, standing in the midst of the open dry space that lead her to stare out at the horizon.

Blindly she'd quickly stick out her arms and begin summoning a small shack. Well, that's what she wanted anyway, a place to sleep while protected by the winds and coarse sand. At first, none of the people sleeping on the convoy's vehicles and hanging around the campfire didn't notice- eyes focused on each other while speaking and sharing food and water. Or, simply keeping their eyes shut while listening to the chatter. But a minute had passed, people began to stare, the people staring would increase with every passing minute. Some looking up from their truck beds (which also literally was their bed) looking at the lights with squinted eyes. Eventually, after what seemed to be some twenty minutes, the metal shack was complete. "Should've done that in the first place." She thought to herself, barely giving a second to acknowledge the tiny holes in the shack's roof and walls.

Walking toward the doorway, Kalli looked back at the people observing what she had built, almost expecting them to shout or look with disgust. But they didn't, instead they were all looking at it with intrigue, the conversations having fallen silent. Only whispers could be heard now, as well as the crackling of the fire, perhaps a snore or two further down the convoy's line of vehicles from those too deep in their sleep. The prime then looked forward, opened the door, looked back again with a quick glance and shut it, embracing the windowless darkness as her sleeping place.

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 06-19-2016

There was a heavy sigh.
The sun's rays pierced through the darkness, steadily expanding outward the closer they got to the ground, revealing more dust as it went across the shack. Each spec of dust or dirt fading in and out of view as they would be dragged downwards, only to be blown up again by dry gusts of wind. The metallic interior was dry, humid, just like the savanna that the town was surrounded by- minus the predatory animals. A rusty bed, just as rusty as this shack, was pressed against the corner of the room, the clean mattress seeming as if it came right out of a store selling them freshly made. A blanket revealing the figure of a person, animal-like legs, but absolutely humanoid with their upper body. She sighed again, rolling again and again with the same frustration she had from yesterday.

Each and every particle that blew closer to the bed made it harder to breath, the struggle to get oxygen from the dry, insensible air forced Kalli to breath even heavier than normal just to get her lungs their proper fill. That didn't work well either, it felt like she was breathing in more dirt than air, coughing while her eyes struggled to remain closed. Seeing her desperate attempt to get more sleep as a futile cause, her eyelids slowly opened, squinted, a hole in the ceiling had the sun shining down right on her face.

Taking grip of the side of the bed with one claw while removing the blanket with another, she sat up. The numbness in her calves were gone, replaced with a burning pain she was familiar with since her trip here. Breathing in deeply, she got up with a stumble, placing one hand on the wall next to her in concern for falling. Slowly withdrawing that hand while looking down, she moved one foot, than the next, delicately placing each on the floor as her head was lifted upward. Walking over to the table she had created last night, the prime observed what was before her. The old armor and clothing had been dissolved yesterday, just after she had constructed the wooden table. A new uniform laid before her with a pleasantly fresh smell.

A combat vest, this time extending only down to her torso with a much thinner plating, while a tight black jumpsuit was worn underneath it. Fingerless gloves at the end of each sleeve, while her new trousers were baggy, hiding her legs just as they hid the lower part of the jumpsuit up until the ankles. Her belt was still there as well, with all the items and ammunition that came attached to it, as so did the pouches on her vest. Her weapons were laid out just next to these, each lined up like as if they were on display at a museum, clips of ammunition next to them, the bullets at the top shimmering from the light that crept it's way onto the table. A talon glided over all that was here before her. Kalli gave a confident nod, this would be much more easier to use.

Fitting on the jumpsuit, her arms and legs slipped easily into it, the suit itself stopping at the neck, talons and hands. It felt constricting at first, especially on her feet which- while protected -felt like they couldn't move without making it even more tighter. But eventually she tugged at the suit, getting the folds in the proper places so she could properly bend her arms and digtigrade legs. The combat vest, trousers, gloves, they went on too with much more ease. At the sound of a 'click' from her belt, signifying she was done, the prime would begin slipping each magazine of ammunition into place, each pouch having one to fill it's space. Slinging the rifle onto her back, holstering the pistol on her right thigh and sheathing the knife, she began to take a few steps back and forth in order to get comfortable with the new uniform.

"Much better." She thought, the prime then began to take their steps toward the door with confidence in the new apparel, her hand tugging at the handle, opening the door to reveal...

A actual non-human other than herself?
"You know black will build up heat right? Also that jumpsuit is incredibly constricting."

The alien was a fair 5'8ft, which seemed to be rather average for many, while Kalli towered over him at 6'5ft. He was wearing a white button-up shirt that looked right out of a business meeting, while a desert jacket was worn right open that, left open to see down the middle. Grey trousers went down his leg, kept tightly to his person by a brown belt. From there, the scales on his ankles were exposed until the feet, where he wore shoes with pointed tips. A tail waved behind his back, as long as his legs as it were. Two hands tucked away into his trouser's pockets, while he looked upward with curiosity. A cigar was in his mouth as well, recently lit from what Kalli could tell. If he didn't have a snout, scales and a tail, the man could easily pass for a human.

"What do you want?" She asked, annoyed.
The lizard man took his right hand out of his pocket, taking out the cigar and pointed at her with the same hand. "A proposition." a smile followed. "You're a prime-"
"And?" Kalli interrupted, expecting a insult to be thrown into the mix, remembering yesterday's encounter with the accountant.
He sighed, closing his eyes and rubbing his forehead in irritation. "Allow me to begin again." The lizard then looked up once more. "I'm a man in charge of a organization who gets paid to transport and protect. I'm looking for a new hand on my latest contract. If you help me in being that 'extra hand', I give you the location of a omnilium deposit. Questions?" The cigar was then placed in his mouth again, hand tucked into the pocket. Little did Kalli know the last part about a deposit was a lie- such things were exceptionally rare. Basically non-existent in the Endless Dunes as far as the lizard knew. But that was to be dealt with later.

Behind him was the convoy, four pick ups, a SUV, two motorcycles and a truck with a flat bed, large boxes being strapped down to it. All of the vehicles were modified in some way, may it be extra metallic plates (much like the shack's rusting walls), machine guns strapped to the rear of the pick ups, or supplies being strapped to the doors like water canisters and bags filled with whatever was necessary. Only the motorcycles were passable as normal. Kalli looked at it all, staring as the personnel apart of this 'organization' double checking their supplies and cleaning their guns. Everyone had a gun it seemed, holstered pistols or a rare machine gun. Kalli observed for another few seconds, the wind whistling past the shack with fresh air- no more of that humid, dry, insensible air the shack had -began to blow across the prime's face.

"Let me get rid of this place first," she took grip of the edge of the doorway, tapping the shack's wall with her talons "then we'll talk."
With a nod, the lizard turned about and walked back to the convoy. Once in ear shot to talk to someone he would proceed to yell and have his hands in the air like a irritated boss, constantly telling everyone to hurry up. Kalli took her steps out of the shack and instantly turned around, the sand and dirt rolling under her feet. Observing the shack for a few seconds as the commotion went on behind her, Kalli then stuck out her hands and collected the omnilium from the dissolving shelter.

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 06-21-2016

"-well I don't have time for you to count, we need to be ready as soon as possible!" Tossing the clipboard to his right and putting his hands on his hips, the lizard looked down the convoy's line with a disproving look, the hustle and bustle of the convoy not having died down yet. One of his men hastily grabbed the clipboard as it fell, stumbling a bit before taking a step back. Tapping his foot, the leader of the convoy kept disapprovingly looking at his 'employees' finish tying their supplies to their designated cars, some looking over their shoulders back at their boss, worried of whatever word was to come from his mouth. Despite how rugged, armed and scarred those working on their vehicles may be, the lizard in suspenders and a white button up was more horrifying to then their own comrades, this all being comedic to Kalli. "Oh, good, you're here!" He reached out to shake the prime's hand as she walked up, only to find she wasn't going to offer one, the silence continued for a second before he realized. Rolling his eyes, the lizard withdrew his hand "Alrighty then. The names Whitthorn by the way."

"Alright, Whitthorn, where exactly his this convoy going?" Kalli asked.
"One second. First, follow me." the lizard motioned her to follow with his right hand, moving down the line of vehicles before taking out his textbook wide cigar case, a new cigar being placed in his mouth before tucking the case back into his massive chest pocket, taking out a lighter from the same pocket and proceeding to smoke. The prime found the scent to be foul, coughing and covering her face shortly as the wind blew smoke straight past her. But Whitthorn didn't care at all, multitasking as he spoke and watched for any errors along the convoy.

"Some good miles out from here is a group of primitives, spears and bows, a bit like The Kingdom except less smart." He shoved two casually talking employees out of the way, both of who looked at their boss in anger before going back to work "Anyway, the boy we found who lives with the primitives promises that we'll be able to use the tribe's water supply if we protect them. So, I'm eager to get out there and see if he's being honest. Plus we wont need to pay the Empire any more water tax with our own supply of-" Pausing, Whitthorn looked up at the top of the SUV, a man carrying a green box with bullet shapes etched on the side of it was being placed down. Whitthorn automatically started yelling, pointing to the front of the convoy's line. "That box is to be placed in my car, at the front!" the man sighed loudly, picking up the green box again and carrying it to the edge of the SUV, before dropping it into the sand, causing it to sink a little. "And be careful!" Whitthorn added.

"And where did you find this boy?" Kalli asked
"In the middle of the desert, dehydrated and possibly hallucinating. But I trust him nonetheless." He continued to look at the man carrying the box, all the way back to the front. Finally breaking away from an intense stare, Whitthorn continued "I mean, I trusted him after he stopped hallucinating."
"You really trust him?"
"Yes."

The two stared at each other for a few seconds before Whitthorn broke the silence "So you want that omnilium or not?"
Kalli felt repulsed, the carelessness in his voice seemed so disconnected with the reality of his decisions. Going out into the desert? All because of what some sort of nutjob what saying? Its as if he did this on a daily basis. "Fine." She said begrudgingly "But I expect you to tell me where that reserve is, even if we find nothing."
He smiled "Great! By the way, you'll be riding in the same vehicle as me and the boy, so I hope you like taking lead." Whitthorn then walked away, going about and making sure everything along his convoy was prepared for the trip ahead.

After each and every vehicle was prepared, everyone was ready to move out. There were a lot more people then they could fit inside each vehicle, but the personnel were use to this. They took turns on who would sit on the roofs or in the flatbeds, one or two possibly volunteering for the sake of their comrades. Two people sat in the flatbed of Whitthorn's truck, a guard and the second in command of the convoy, Jeff. Meanwhile, in the pick up's passenger seat was a man with his head face down into the seat, body laid out right arm hanging out with his hand resting against the car's floor, fast asleep. Supposedly this was 'the boy' by Whitthorn's description. Kalli climbed on inside, sitting right next to the driver, that driver being Whitthorn himself unsurprisingly.

The interior of the vehicle was a brown, with the roof a tan, the bottom of the floor the same tan. At first, it felt comfy, the softness of the floor was such a contrast to the hot sands outside. But as soon as Kalli closed the door, the place was hotter than a furnace even with the windows open. With the turn of the keys the engine came to life, a roar of engines following behind them as the rest of the convoy followed in suit. "Right, well," the lizard said while he reached into his shirt, pulling out black sunglasses and putting them on "lets get this expedition started." placing both hands on the wheel and a foot against the peddle, the truck began to move out, rolling onto a path while the rest of the vehicles followed in a line behind each other. The savanna began to roll past them, becoming more and more dry with less and less people, the desert would soon engulf their surroundings a few hours later, becoming all that was ahead of them.

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 06-22-2016

"Don't mind some music, do you?" The lizard took out a cassette tape, waving it in his right hand while the left kept the wheel from turning out of control. Ahead of them was sand, endless, hills to the left and right of them as they went down a flat path. How the path became flat was rather apparent by their own activities- vehicles constantly driving through this area and using this exact path. By Jeff's account, this path was dangerous as its open for a ambush, but Whitthorn ignored him, telling him to get back to his 'post'. He had climbed back across the pick up, back to the flatbed, having a strong, calm grip on the vehicle. Kalli agreed with the man, even if in her own thoughts. The hills were too big and numerous to actually see behind them, a army could be watching them cross the burning sands and they wouldn't even know it. The prime breathed in the cold air that flew past the window, watching for anything suspicious. "I don't mind music, as long as it's not too loud." she replied to Whitthorn, not even looking back at him as he held the tape.

With the sound of a click and the pressing of a few buttons, as well as a turn of a dial, the music would emit from the cassette player. Kalli's mind didn't bother to process the music, the sound coming off as background noise as her eyes scanned the sands. Whitthorn was much more enthusiastic, using his scaled hands to pat the leather driving wheel following a beat of whatever came on. Driving along without interruption in the hot desert, a few of the convoy personnel behind them began to pass around water and food casually, relaxed and comfortably engaging in discussions while keeping their heads covered from the glare of the sun. They would get progressively louder as time went on, nothing seen ahead or behind them as they went through the empty desert lands. Jeff and the guard he was with were silent however, looking much more disciplined than the rest and both keeping their heads down, focused on resting as the pick up rolled along. Kalli looked behind her seat, staring at the two through the window before looking at the passenger seat behind her- the tribal boy was still dead asleep, snoring.

"He seems really comfortable back there." The prime looked back toward the window, before facing Whitthorn who kept his eyes on the road.
"The tribal? Yeah, he didn't want us to bother him until we arrived back at his tribe. I'd say I'm surprised he trusted us, but then again, what else was he gonna' do?" Whittorn said, turning the volume down on the cassette player via a dial.
"Then we better get back to his home fast, shouldn't we?"
"I'm driving at maximum speed here, doing the best I can."
"Maximum speed? This is like..." Kalli stuck her closest hand to the door out of the window, feeling the wind. "Eighty miles per hour." she added, looking back at the lizard.
"Well no shit." Whitthorn retorted, taking off his sunglasses now as the sun began to fade from their front, instead slowly moving to take place right above them and the line of vehicles.
"You mean we can't go any faster?" She asked, raising a 'eyebrow' at him in disbelief, pulling her hand back into the car.
Whitthorn instantly snapped back at her with a disgusted look. "Don't tell me you just came from the Nexus."
"Nexus? As in the world of pure white with eight gates? Yeah I was there." Kalli said, in which Whittorn replied by looking back at the road while frustration overwhelmed him. "I was in Coruscant for awhile, if that helps." The prime added, seeing the frustration on her driver's face.
"Of all the primes I have to pick, I get the one who doesn't even know the top speed of the Omniverse..." Whitthorn muttered to himself. Kalli settled back into her seat, a small feeling of guilt seeping into her while Whitthorn cursed under his breath, shaking his head every now and then over the past hour. Silence was followed by the two, Jeff looking through the window from the outside, sitting on the flat bed while looking concerned, feeling his bosses frustration from all the silence. This certainly wasn't normal to him, making the whole situation all the more worrying.

However, after that one hour of silent cursing, Whitthorn spoke again, even if he was holding back frustration at Kalli's lack of knowledge.  "Alright, some Omniverse lessons from a secondary who's been here for four years." and from there on, much was revealed.

So he spoke, like a exposition device he revealed all that could be useful. Four years of experience, the Battle of the Black Gate, of Diablo, the Empire and the Kingdom as well as their war, each verse's own rumors- though he knew more about the Endless Dunes than, say, the Ashen Steppes -and basic 'scientific' properties that the Omniverse had. One hour of silence turned up to become a entire day of discussion. Kalli's questions were as numerous as there were stories, though many questions unable to be answered due to Whitthorns lack of travel between each verse. But he was still the most informative person she had met so far, the overly dressed lizard speaking of much that she had not even seen or heard of before. As they went on and on about the Omniverse, Whitthorn's anger toward the prime began to settle, especially after hearing of her 'adventure' in Coruscant.

What drew much of Kalli's interest- aside from banishment, which she admitted to fearing -was of Whitthorn's previous job, once having worked for the Empire as a lowly miner in the Endless Dunes when it was still plentiful in resources. Once the Empire had abandoned the place and began to decommission the local refinery, he was left behind as a 'expendable asset' as well as having multiple offenses for 'rebellious behavior'. While anyone else with him quickly died from the hostility of the verse, Whitthorn lived on, living on scrap after scrap before becoming a nomadic merchant. His vehicle, the first built, had come to form via giving all his scrap away to a mechanic in the Town Of No Name. While Whitthorn himself spoke of the car like a pile of scrap barely succeeding to stay together, it certainly didn't look that way, having made it seem like a perfectly operational and intact vehicle over years of putting pieces together.

But then, they both fell silent again, looking behind their chairs as they heard a noise. The 'boy' (no less than eighteen years old by the looks, at most he was in his early twenties) behind them finally getting up and rubbing his eyes, speaking in a tired voice as the cold night wind blew in. "Do either of you ever stop talking? I've been trying to sleep for the longest time now."

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 06-25-2016

He was shorter than the average convoy guard, dark skin with brown eyes, a bald head and a loose necklace. A red cloth wrapped around his torso, from shoulder to waist as if a line went from corner to corner, the cloth itself forming numerous layers due to it's incredible length, the ends of it tucked behind or between the wrapping. From waist down the tribal man was covered in animal skins, a waist cloth, trousers, with his ankles wrapped in strapping which connected to his shoes. The necklace he wore would thud against his chest as the car went along the road, going over a bump every now and then. At first he was merely rubbing his eyes, but once his eyes adjusted to the car's ceiling light, the tribal man was surprised, blinking and cocking his head slowly at the sight of Kalli. "Are you that prime who summoned a shack?"

Kalli hesitated, looking at Whittorn as if he was supposed to answer, but he only shrugged silently as a response. She then looked back at the tribal man, nodding "Yes, my names Kalli, yours?" the man's surprised look disappeared completely, instead it was replaced with a smile.

"A prime! I'm Aoki, sorry for being so rude." Aoki then stuck out a hand, to which Kalli hesitantly shook. He then continued talking "My tribe was founded by a prime, its a honor to meet someone with the same power."

"Well, nice to meet you Aoki, my names Kalli." She was eager to change the subject from her status of being a prime "Do you happen to know where your tribe is?"

"Well, now that I think about it...I'm unsure where we are. I did say it was East, you're driving East, right Whitthorn?"

Whitthorn had already taken out another cigar, placing it in his mouth (but not lighting it) with a irritated expression. He then took a map off of his lap- which Kalli herself never noticed, to her own surprise -placing it on the steering wheel. It was a crude map, with a huge canyon, Carrefore, Town Of No Name and two oasis locations. Then there was a red X, placed far to the left, far from Carrefore and the Town of No Name. "I'm driving to this X." He said, pointing out the numerous paths dotted along the map, leading to each location. Its obvious someone else had made this map before, but if Whitthorn bought it or looted it was up for debate. He then put the map down onto his lap again, driving forward. "If it isn't there, well...We'll find a way, someone else has probably met this tribe before, especially if its under attack by bandits."

Aoki was instantly offended "They aren't bandits, they're th-"

"'Malicious Sons'? Yeah, well, they're no different than what every other crazy raider is like." Whittorn replied, continuing to focus on the road. "I thought you weren't going to bother us until we got there, Aoki."

"Well, you brought a prime along! That changes a lot."

Whittorn didn't reply- he just shook his head at Aoki's voice. Kalli looked curiously at him, asking "You don't like him?"
To which Whittorn replied "No, Aoki irritates me, but if we're being offered water then I can't deny his usefulness. Do me a favor and keep him off my back, will you? I don't expect this ride to last much longer seeing how we passed civilization long ago." this time Aoki heard nothing, fortunately. He was still sitting there, arms crossed, staring at Whittorn with some disgust, clearly he took the matter of the bandits' name seriously. Kalli nodded to the lizard's request, it offered her a chance to understand the tribe they were going to anyway.

Turning around in her seat, she asked "So, what do you do in this tribe of yours, Aoki?"

"Oh! Well, I serve as a initiate among the warriors." Aoki began "The necklace I wear actually belongs to them! They said my final task to become a warrior was to find help for us. Not many survive their final tasks, but I was fortunate to get something easy. Most initiates are assigned to scouting out salvage deep within the desert, or spotting and collecting information on the Malicious Sons. Those are infinitely more deadly, especially if they're told to go out alone."

She found all of these 'tasks' horrifying, but still tried to look happy "Alright, well...who are these Malicious Sons?"

Aoki was swift to answer, prepared but not certainty not excited to explain "Well, remember when I said my tribe was created by a prime? It was much larger than it is now, but once the prime who summoned us disappeared, there was anarchy. And a year ago half of the tribe left, branding themselves as the 'Malicious Sons', we hoped that being diplomatic with them would work, but..." he paused, trying to explain what they were without having the proper word. Eventually, Kalli hesitantly guessed it, and the answer was rather unpleasant. "-yeah, they're cannibals, feed off the flesh of other humans more specifically. Anyway, once we were stabilized our situation and found a new leader, we tried to talk to our relatives. They're something else now, and as ashamed as I am to admit it, we just can't bring ourselves to fight them. Its what I'm hoping you guys will be able to pull off, make the Malicious Sons run away or change their mind."

"How naive," Whittorn shook his head, muttering to Kalli "I'd hate to break it to him that stuff like this can only be resolved in violence."

The prime shrugged off Whittorn's comment, speaking to Aoki "Well, we'll get to that bridge when we get there. Good to have met you, by the way."

With the two happily acquainted and Kalli answering any questions that Aoki had, the convoy kept rolling along in the midst of the cold desert night. Eventually, the prime fell asleep in her seat, waiting until the next morning when they got to the tribe. Luckily, Whittorn had guessed right- by next morning they were already there.

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 06-25-2016

The air carried the scent of well cooked meat, like a barbecue, with the hustle and bustle of a town in the midst of a festival. But it also reminded her of a harbor, with workers hauling boxes around, lacking any grace or happiness.
Then the door to her right opened swiftly.

She swiftly grabbed her pistol, pulling it out of the holster smoothly, as soon as the door was fully open the pistol was already aimed. She clicked the safety off, eyes adjusting at the figure standing there against the backdrop of sun covered sand and dirt. Kalli then lowered it as soon as she could once realizing who it was. Jeff, who looked up at her with the confusion, hostility and worry all in one while his hand was still placed on the door to keep it open, his face dropped into his standard, blank, guarded look with his calm, cold voice. "Nice to meet you too, Whittorn wanted me to wake you up. I see the door did that for me." Kalli looked up from him, in front of her was an entire tribe, a primitive town with suspicious stares over their new visitors.

The tribe's housing was composed of sticks, sticks upon sticks, stick walls and stick ceilings. They'd have one or two windows as well a single door, and varied in sizes. Some seemed big enough to be a able to hold two families (and probably did!) while others were meant for only a couple, or- rarely -a mere one person. While a few people stared from such places, mainly the old and the children, there were plenty of adults outside meeting the convoy personnel. Whittorn himself seemed to be speaking to a old lady, who Kalli could only assume to be the tribe's leader, especially since the tribe's warriors were protecting her with a four man escort. Aoki was talking to her as well, standing next to Whittorn with much worry on his face.

The convoy itself had completely disembarked, supplies being dropped off and carried throughout the tribe to the edges, setting up sandbags and machine guns while the tribes' people made way. They kept looking on with hostile glances, as if unwelcome or not wanted, making Kalli concerned every second she spent observing this place. The convoy's personnel didn't seem to care however, talking among each other while hauling their supplies around. Jeff coughed loudly, causing Kalli to look down, realizing she'd taken a good minute looking around the place. Embarrassed, she holstered her pistol and jumped down from her seat, Jeff slamming the door behind her. "Follow me, prime." Jeff walked past her, motioning her to follow with his hand.

They began to walk toward Whittorn, Aoki and the tribal leader. The talking becoming increasingly louder while Whittorn rubbed the back of his neck, giving a concerned look, the tribal leader was clearly not pleased and Aoki was sweating intensely, his entire face filled with fear. Jeff stood between them all, moving both hands toward Kalli, introducing her "This is the prime, Kalli." Jeff then proceeded to walk away, as if he said nothing.

"So, you're that prime my initiate mentioned." The eldest spoke in a clear, soft voice, but her face was giving a look that would make most people freeze on the spot. It seemed as if she was about to do a public execution on one of her worse enemies. Whittorn's concern only grew, looking at Kalli and giving a mere shrug before taking a step back. The wind howled at them for a short time, the elderly woman steadily standing up from her hunched position, pieces of jewelry and valuables making noises as they swayed, attached to her clothing by small white strings. Her back was covered in a brown cape, skinned from a animal like anything the tribal people wore. The rest of what she wore was a long brown dress, her feet barefoot and ankles covered in tight bracelets, like her wrists.

She opened to speak once more, but unlike her face, she spoke with much joy "Great to meet you! Pardon me for looking so angry, I was just worried they were lying about a prime is all." then she began to go back to her hunched position, holding onto her walking stick tightly. "Your 'boss' here, Whittorn I believe? He is a man with good intentions, I hope you have the same." She then poked her stick toward Aoki, "And thank you for finding Aoki by the way, we'd be devastated if any more of our people were lost."

"You're welcome, Eldest." Whittorn stated, his voice of respect and kindness, to which the Eldest laughed off.

"I'm not the Emperor nor am I any king like Aragorn, so please, drop this ridiculous worship." She then turned to look at Aoki again, speaking in their native language. Aoki nodded, saying something back with a blank face, then running off down between the tribe's housing. "Anyway." The Eldest looked back at Kalli "My name is The Eldest, feel free to laugh if you can't control yourself, the name is honest however and I appreciate that. Now, tell me, can you show us any proof of you being a prime?"

Kalli sighed "I could summon something. Like, food."

"Go ahead." The Eldest took a few steps back, smiling. The warriors to her left and right never changed in emotion however, holding spears and wooden shields with emotionless faces. Whittorn once more shrugged at Kalli, unable to do anything but watch. Kalli stood firmly on both her talons, raising both hands and summoning her omnilium, it flashed and poured from her hands as it would take form on the ground- at first it was shapeless, confusing, baffling. But then it took form, a bowl, with numerous fruit piled in it. After three minutes of standing in the hot sun, it was over, with a entire crowd gathering to watch, mainly composed of the tribe's people.

While much of the tribe whispered and spoke, the warriors stood still with their blank stare. The Eldest kept smiling, nodding slowly before looking at Whittorn, saying "Good to see you weren't lying." she then looked at Kalli "I know prime's do not have a unlimited amount of omnilium, so I won't blame you if you wish to take back what you just made."

"Actually, if I may be 'diplomatic'," Kalli then lifted up the bowl, keeping it in front of The Eldest "what if you take it? A sign of good will."

"Well, that certainly is something 'diplomatic' isn't it? I happily accept." She then took a grape from the bowl, eating it, and pausing. Once again the wind howled. The Eldest then began to move her head up and down slowly, nodding and quickly sticking the walking stick into the ground, taking the bowl, lifting it up above her head and facing the crowd that her people formed, saying something in the tribe's language. The crowd then began to cheer and celebrate the new found alliance.

Whittorn then took a few steps closer to the prime, standing right next to her. "Never knew you were a diplomat." he said
"Yeah, and I never knew fruit meant so much." Kalli joked.

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 06-28-2016

It was night now, once more the sun was disappearing behind the hills of sand. A chosen few of the convoy guard had been assigned a position and a large wall of sandbags to build as their defense. There were four machine gun positions, each one placed in the middle of the sandbags, one north, south, east and west. Two pick ups would need to sacrifice their mounted machine guns, but Whittorn's truck was the only one that still had a weapon. He declared it as 'Patrol vehicle' though everyone was well aware of his own intentions. Anyone not given a defensive position was kept in reserve to replace anyone on guard shift, and the vehicles were all parked right next to each other, a open space granted to them in the middle of the tribe.

Just like in Carrefore they lit a campfire and surrounded it with discussions and laughter. Some sat on the cars, some surrounded the fire in a circle, others stood in groups talking to each other, Whittorn however would be busy sleeping while Jeff sat next to him, keeping watch on the off duty guards. A few of the locals would watch, but there was no involvement from them, except unless a guard actually got up and attempted to talk to them. There certainly were plenty of those people, but anyone chatting with a local was probably under bet, or simply attempting to 'get laid' with anyone they found remotely attractive, never succeeding to do so. Kalli herself sat near the fire, poking it with a stick while the fire would spread, lighting up any of the cold, untouched sides of the wood. After a while, Kalli's own stick would be too consumed by fire to be of any use, leading her to throw it in and watch it get consumed in flame.

She sighed, moving her head upward to stare at the clear night sky.
"So why don't you summon secondaries like us?"

Startled, she turned to her right- Aoki was sitting there, looking at her with a curious look. "Well, I," She began, pausing before giving a full answer "I just don't like being responsible for life, is all."
"Huh." Aoki replied, adding "But what about companionship? Friends? Don't you have any?

Kalli thought to herself, looking away from him while considering her past. She then shook her head slowly "No, I wasn't exactly taught to be a friendly person."
"What do you mean? You don't seem unfriendly." Aoki stated, then proceeded to put his head in his hands, resting his elbows on his thighs while sitting cross-legged. He had the same blank curiosity from before.
She looked at him "I wasn't a real person back from where I came from. I was just meant to do what other people told me, not thinking for myself." Kalli said, soon shaking her head after speaking "It doesn't matter now." she added.
"Huh." Aoki repeated
Kalli breathed out, her head pointed upward again. "Where were you?" she asked Aoki, though continuing to stare at the stars above.
"Oh." He lifted his head upward "I was busy informing the, uh, chief of our warriors." Aoki then sighed deeply "I'm not a warrior yet. Said I'd have to prove myself in combat."
"I thought you were promised to become a warrior by getting help?" Kalli asked
"Supposedly I need more training." Aoki said, sadly

Kalli's eyes began to looked at the stars with curiosity. Seeing if there was anything that moved, a aircraft or VTOL, maybe even a starship. But nothing did move, it was still, no passing comet nor shooting star. Minutes kept passing as she kept up with her stubborn attempt to see any movement. Aoki then tapped her shoulder, interrupting her observation with a question "You're a fighter, do you have any advice?" to which Kalli remained silent. Looking away from the sky and at the sandy floor they sat on.

"I don't mean to ruin your dreams, but being a warrior isn't as great as some make it out to be." Kalli's face was empty of any positive emotion, simply looking at him with dread as she remembered her life from before.
"What?" Aoki asked
"You'll figure out what I mean when you become one, Aoki." She said, then proceeded to mutter to herself "If you live that long."

After a while Aoki left, pondering what the prime meant. Kalli herself refused to reflect on her past any longer, sighing and taking her sleeping bag she had been given some time ago. Keeping it rolled up, she pressed her talons against the sand and got up, walking out from the circle of relaxed, chatting guards and passed those farther from the fire. She then walked toward Whittorn's truck, stopped by the awake Jeff who spoke from an open window. "No one is sleeping in the passenger seat if you wanna rest back here." He said, his thumb pointing behind him while his armed rested on the door. Kalli turned down the offer, to which Jeff shrugged, going back to leaning back in passenger seat.

Kalli clambered onto the pick up's flat bed, standing next to the machine gun and unrolling the sleeping bag, laying it out on the floor and placing a pillow against the rear window. She then stripped herself of her armor and weapons, placing it next to her pillow in a neat pile before sliding into the sleeping bag, falling asleep soon after.

***

She could smell the fire.
There was the sound of car engines, uncountable amounts of them, as well as cheering that followed with every explosion, drowning out the crying and screams of pain. Kalli sat up, looking out from the flatbed. She could see numerous huts on fire before a massive explosion erupted in the distance, to which Kalli ducked and covered her head- pieces of rock falling to the ground as if the clouds were raining them from above. After it stopped, she could feel someone shaking her, it was Jeff. "Are you alright!? I need every to get up and get ready, we're under attack!"

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 06-28-2016

Quote:The Skirmish in the Dunes

The machine gun made a loud 'ch-chnk' as the bolt was pulled back and let go, Jeff holding the handles that were behind each trigger. The machine gun itself rotated- the four barrels pointed down a few huts as a unfamiliar car appeared, rusted and brown, but covered with numerous pipes attached to the doors and front. As it kicked up smoke with the two men inside would begin taunting and cheering, Jeff would unleash a wall of bullets, shells flying out of the side of the machine gun as the car would be riddled with large holes. It spun out of control, it then would proceed to flip onto it's side before rolling three times, each time it'd lose more pieces of itself, parts flying everywhere before it finally slid to a halt, a smoking wreck. Kalli finally got all her gear prep'd while laying down to avoid blocking Jeff's view, once the shooting stopped however she got onto her feet and nodded to him with a smile "Good shooting."

"I need you to stay here, we're trying to get the word around about regrouping back here." Jeff stated, letting go of the machine gun's handles and turning them toward Kalli. "Whittorn is busy trying to get some of the defenders back here." Jeff then proceeded to walk under the turret's barrels, putting on his cap and dropping down into the sand. His metallic post-apoc looking armor clattering against him as he landed.

"But what if no one comes back, and where is everyone anyway!?" Kalli yelled as Jeff began to walk away.
"Everyone ran off to help the defenses once the reports came in, we got a few men still here though. Anyway, if no one comes back I'm sure you'll just take the car and drive off if your senses tell you to do so. You're a prime, you can live by yourself!" Jeff yelled back casually while continuing to walk, after some time he would take grip of his rifle and jog off, Kalli watched as he disappeared off into the smoke and fire that laced the paths and houses.

Placing a talon onto the edge, Kalli then looked about the place- all the vehicles were gone, except Whittorns obviously, and there were a few guards about near the other paths in and out of where they were. The campfire was long gone, nothing more than black ash, and the sand was marked with the tires of vehicles and the underside of boots. The vehicle that Jeff shot was right in the center, still making a creaking noise as the door would shake, something smashing it from the inside. Kalli then grabbed her rifle, aiming it while using the truck's hood as cover. Eventually the door of the broken car would open, a man without weapon nor right arm would crawl out, screaming. At first, it disturbed the prime- a call back to the battles of her past, but eventually it came to be even more disturbing then that, for the man was actually getting ready to charge at her.

Ripping a pipe off the underside of his wrecked car, the limbless covered man would charge, his face down to his right leg were covered in his blood, his own or his one alive driver. Screaming with a combination of pain and fury, his weapon was raised above his head, his run with a limp as a cut went through his trousers and lower legs. Kalli proceeded to shoot him, pulling the trigger twice as each bullet would go through his head, leaving a puff of red smoke before he hit the ground. As the blood would pour onto the sand and a few of the convoy guards looking over their shoulders at the scene, Kalli lowered her gun.

More explosions and screaming could be heard in the distance, the chanting of their enemies could be heard as well depending on how close the explosions and car engines were. Are these the Malicious Sons? Kalli thought to herself, We should be able to hold them off she tried to reassure herself and looked down at her rifle, taking out the clip and slamming it back in, pulling on the gun's bolt. After the shell clattered against the flat bed, a car engine could be heard getting closer, Kalli's eyes darting upward and looking toward the guards in the distance. They proceeded to roll out of the way, sand kicking up as they dived and smashed against the sand, even more sand would cover them as the car charged on through going at full speed right past them.

The prime's adrenaline was finally affecting her body, waking her up and making her hands shake. She dropped the rifle and leaped onto the turret, turning it and pointing the end of the barrels at wherever the loudest noise was. For some time there would be nothing other than that one vehicle, minutes passing as a few more guards would rush into the center, making sure their comrades who've been here for a longest time were okay taking defense positions. Over time it would get gradually worse, more and more smoke and fire could be seen in the distance, meanwhile some guards were being dragged in bleeding, unconscious, or already dead. The screams and cries of the wounded filled the center as they were placed on sleeping bags that were lying around, the few medics that were there were doing their best at keeping them alive.

Then the car came back- slamming itself through a hut while sliding on it's tires, the burning sticks rolling off it as the vehicle was pushed to full speed. Kalli saw it- the driver looking straight at her with a death stare, causing the prime to curse to herself as the turret moved slowly. As the sand cloud got closer, she finally had the turret aimed, pulling the trigger quickly. Like with the previous car, the bullets tore holes through the vehicle, the windows shattering and the driver being torn to pieces as his flesh ripped and exploded. But that didn't stop the vehicle, with the foot still to the peddle the vehicle would slam into Whittorn's truck, knocking Kalli off into the sand like a ragdoll.

Quote:Whittorn, Jeff, The Eldest and Aoki
The Colt 1911-looking handgun with a golden decorations would click, fully loaded.

Whittorn got out of cover, firing his pistol. The bandit screamed and fell off the car, slamming into the sand before two more shots went through his back. He flinched, as if shocked by electricity for that exact second before becoming still sinking into the sand, dead. Whittorn continued to fire as another car rushed on through, the windshield filled with holes before the vehicle slid to a halt, the driver pulling out a sawed off shotgun and aiming it at the lizard, his finger on the trigger. The sound of a gun firing could be heard- which proceeded with the driver's head exploding, Jeff running up onto the hood of the stopped car and firing a torrent of bullets into the windshield, killing the driver and his comrade trying to escape.

"Well this brings me back to that time we were attacked by those hired assassins! Remember? I think you were dating one." Whittorn said jokingly, reloading his pistol while Jeff got off the car's hood, stumbling as he landed before rushing up to Whittorn.

"Oh please, don't bring that up again." Jeff said with a irritated tone, reloading his gun as well. The black rifle's clip fell into the sand, Jeff quickly pulled out a new one from his belt pouch. Him, Whittorn and numerous guards were sticking to the North side of town, attempting to defend some of the locals as well as their leader- The Eldest. Guards around them were rushing around, shooting out into the desert at incoming vehicles. They couldn't prevent them from reaching the town sadly, their bullets merely pinging off of the exteriors of each vehicle, the metal becoming dented and scarred. Depending on how many there were, some guards had to keep diving every few seconds, or else be run over by the psychotic drivers, and plenty of people were run over by such drivers.

Another group of people rode in from the dunes of the desert utilizing a pick up, going straight for Whittorn and Jeff. They both fired, standing still and aiming to the best of their abilities, four of the passengers in the flat bed of the truck firing back at them. But nothing hit the driver- one man standing in the flat bed was shot, falling off the truck with a yell with the three others next to him trying to grab his feet, but he cracked his neck against the sand and tumbled down with a cloud following the corpse. Their rugged, spiked truck sped up, slamming through the sandbags as Whittorn and Jeff fell to the ground. It slid- going in circle before stopping, the remaining passengers disembarking.

But they all fell back or slowly fell to the ground, as if they were shot by bullets, gasping for air and blood pouring from their wounds, arrows through their chests and hearts. Aoki lowered his bow, staring at the wounded Malicious Son bandit limp towards him before falling, giving his last breath.

"Oh shit." Whittorn muttered, looking at the warriors as they came out of the shadows, drawing more arrows from their quivers and firing them at any passing vehicle. "Hey," Whittorn nodded to Jeff, who was just getting back up from falling "the locals finally woke up." Whittorn then nodded to the warriors, Aoki and the chief- who was covered in rough animal skins -jogging up to them.

"The Eldest requires our help, we require your help." The chief stated, his voice deep and calm, yet demanding.
"Whittorn?" Jeff asked, looking at his boss.
Whittorn stumbled to his feet, "I'm up!"

The Eldest herself was defended by her four warrior escort, their shields up, appearing from a massive hut deeper into the town. The other group of four- Aoki, Jeff, Whittorn and the chief warrior -ran up to the escort, Whittorn himself looking at The Eldest, asking "Can you fend them off?"
The Eldest slowly looked up, her body shaking and face with desperation "Not unless you help, but first we must regroup."
"Same thought, actually! My men are regrouping at the center, if we get there fast-" Whittorn was cut off by the sound of a horn.

Dark black with blood dripping from the sides, a truck with a container attached to the back. It was followed by two more pick ups with more bandits, all holding on as they went over the dune like boat slamming through a tall wave. The truck itself had corpses nailed in on the sides, while a chair was attached to the top with a huge man sitting in it. This man never moved his eyes from The Eldest, staring at her even as the truck's container kept itself in the air before slamming into the sand, rolling along with the truck. The sun shining down overhead on the man's muscled, bruised and worn body. He wore a metal plate over his upper torso, dark grey pants and knee pads, his wrists covered by single bracelets that had sharp spikes sticking out from them. No matter the gravity or force moving the truck, he stayed in the chair, sitting in a thoughtful pose all via by the numerous straps that kept him there.

"If by 'fast' you mean 'now', then sooner is better!" The Eldest began to move slowly with her walking stick, everyone else following her while keeping their worried eyes on the corpse deocrated truck, which only would get closer and closer to the tribe...

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 07-08-2016

Quote:Twenty Minutes Later
No matter which path they took the story was the same.

Some pathways had less casualties than others, sure, but the carnage itself was consistent. Stab wounds, bullet wounds, broken bones and burning homes, this wasn't helping the natives that Jeff and Whittorn were travelling with either. One of the warriors already broke down into tears having only just recovered and helped himself to his feet, the Chief meanwhile was clearly shaking from pure adrenaline and more anxious than a undiscovered criminal in a police department, and Aoki certainly wasn't going to recover from the trauma with a thousand-yard stare that he was giving. However, Jeff and Whittorn were more apathetic toward the carnage, probably because they had been through this song and dance a few times before. It didn't help Jeff lacked an actual conscious, but then again, where would they be if he did have a conscious? He was made right hand man for the convoy because of his psychopathic nature, it helped them survive more than one encounter with the 'elements' of this realm.

And that was relied on heavily, where as everyone else was too anxious and in a panic to properly adjust their thoughts, Jeff only looked at everything with a cold and guarded thought process. Was anything moving? If so, was it hostile? Fortunately that hadn't run into any hostiles since they began their trip toward the center of the tribe. Unfortunately that didn't remove the smell of dead bodies, the gallons of blood or fear of a booby trap under every body and around every corner. And that isn't even mentioning the amount of stress on their minds.

"So, what how do you think we'll get out of this mess?" Jeff asked with his blank stare looking down the iron sight of his rifle, pointing it down their bloodied and corpse decorated path that they walked. The sunlight was still shining down from the clear blue sky, giving a good look at all the flies surrounding each corpse.
Whittorn walked next to him having his pistol raised, unlike Jeff the lizard flinched and pointed his gun at any noise. However, his face was of a calm concern, he never really did get used to the adrenaline of battle "Well, if we're lucky, that Prime is still there with my truck. We could just make a break for it if everyone else is dead, if not..." Whittorn stopped, turning to look behind them and back at the Eldest, warriors and Aoki. They were some distance behind due to the Eldest's pace. Whittorn then looked back ahead, saying to his companion casually "Well, we could just leave them all behind."
"And what about the bandits?" Jeff asked.
"Well, we have ammunition for a reason." Whittorn replied

Shortly after, he added "Mother fucker."

Their old SUV was in front of them, a small fire on top of the hood with all the sticks bundled up there, as well as all the equipment attached to the vehicle long gone. It appeared to have been looted thoroughly, even the dead guard hanging out of the driver's car window lacked his armored vest and rifle. Jeff walked up to the body lowering his rifle and breathing in deeply, placing his left hand on the chin of the corpse, he turned the head left and right. A bullet went right through the helmet, the sides of the deceased face covered in a trail of dried blood. "This explains where our transport went." Jeff muttered to himself.

Whittorn meanwhile was busy ripping off a beige harness off a dead guard just below the vehicle. Once taken, the lizard wrapped it around his torso and proudly buckling it together. He then checked the ammunition pouches, looking at each magazine before putting it back in their place. This certainly was the ammo he used for his own pistol, wasn't surprising either- when everyone has similar guns using similar ammo, its much easier to pay for the costs of managing a convoy. Especially when you can loot the bodies of your employees. Afterwards he looked up at his human companion who climbed into the car, pulling out the driver's corpse and attempting to turn on the engine.

"This wont take too long I hope." The Eldest stated, looking at the vehicle while standing in the middle of her alert escort. She didn't seem as disturbed as the rest at all the carnage, but she was still worried.
"We-" Whittorn began, quickly being interrupted by Jeff.
"No, it wont. I just need this car pushed out of the way. Boss?" He said, looking at Whittorn.

Pulling at the car's doorways, it slowly rolled out of it's place, the vehicle creaking and rolling along as smoke emitted through the hood. After half of it had been hauled away, the group moved on, moving closer toward the gunfire and explosions that came from the center of the tribe.

***

All that could be heard was the shouting and gunfire, all she could see was a the flashing of bright lights and sand that surrounded each flash in the distance with black dots turning into a yellow, blinding flash every second. As she dizzily got to her feet everything and anything made her unbelievably nauseous, like as if her torso had been rearranged to feel like a pit that was both empty and full at the same time, which only added fear to her mind when she remember that a car had rammed her off of a truck at eighty miles per hour. Limping over to what was seen as a black wall, the prime leaned against it, sliding down and feeling the wall's numerous bumps and rugged edges against her numb back. What am I doing? she thought to herself, still unable to see anything beyond her own legs, that is, make sense of anything beyond her own legs. It was still all a combination of flashing, sand and red.

Wait, it wasn't red before.

A crumbled tan mess laid some eight feet to her right, splotches of red covering it like as if it was a bucket of red paint tossed onto a canvas. It wasn't moving, the blob just kept itself there, no noise made either. After what felt like a minute, her brain finally began adjusting to what it was seeing- flesh, a human. Her breathing picked up in pace, the red clearly became blood, and the blob was a broken, bleeding body of the driver that slammed their car into Whittorn's truck. And the mess of sand and flashing was a battle, those dots being people in the distance, the black wall was the underside of Whittorn's tipped over truck as well!

She reached for her pistol to only find an empty holster and her armored vest to be gone. Leaning back, she turned her head away from the corpse's direction, instead staring straight out at the line of huts and sand pathways. Bandits, a whole mob of them, they moved in through wrecked vehicles and passed over the corpses of their own or others with little regard. They didn't pay attention to her, nor even bothered looking as they ran. Instead, they were all focused on taking down the remainder of the convoy personnel holding out across the open field that was the center, as well as the remainders of the convoy's encampment.

And her nerves finally began to feel again, a sharp pain flooding her body as her muscles tensed. Her dried and bloody wounds burning like the sun's glare while she covered the cut on her stomach with both talons. Painfully, she coughed, closing her eyes and shaking intensely as the pain kept getting sharper. Looking up at the sky the prime coughed up a thin strand of saliva and blood before her breathing finally steadied, the pain dropping slowly. With the same slowness she would look down again, opening her eyes and noticing a giant figure blocking her view.

"My name is Malgore." The huge, scar covered and muscle bound man began.

A even larger, bloodied and dark black painted truck was behind him, to which Kalli stared at baffled. Her hearing certainly hadn't recovered to its fullest if something like that sneaked up on her.

"And I believe you're a prime." He added, causing Kalli to stare at him with a fearful look that equaled her pain.

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 07-10-2016

There was a loud 'kr-thunk' as the body fell from the truck and slammed into the sand, lifeless. Kalli was then forced to stand on the edge of the roof, a rope being tied around her ankles just like the corpse.

Two bandits quietly tied her hands and ankles, meanwhile Malgore simply sat in his chair on the top of the container's roof, staring out into the horizon as the sounds of the battle died down around them. He was content. Surrounding the truck were lines of prisoners, the bandits shoving and beating those who couldn't move or were too slow. The prisoners themselves were mostly the tribe's civilians, all tired and bloody. A small band of convoy guards meanwhile were sitting on the sand floor, huddled up around the long dead campfire as guns were kept pointed toward them. The convoy and tribe leaders were still missing but, that would solve itself soon enough.

The center itself hadn't been cleaned up at all despite the total massacre for all sides involved. Instead, the bodies were left where they were despite any health risks involved. Aside from this, the Malicious Son's 'fleet' of vehicles was shown at full might- rows of cars, trucks, buggies and motorcycles, some even having some creative combination of two or more. Plenty of these vehicles were drenched in blood or having prisoners attached to the front of them. This collection of crazed bandits would only fuel the adrenaline of the victors, screaming and shouting into the wind in praise of their leader and for attention from him. Some even taunted the prime, or tossed rocks at her before Malgore yelled at them- they would not hurt her any more than they have already. Not until there were questions to be answered.

Kalli was then violently pushed off the roof, falling for a short second before quickly slamming into the side of the container, groaning from the added pain. The rope rotated her, turning around steadily as her body ached, the rope creaking while this rotation steadily revealed the sight of columns of prisoners, chanting cannibals and the remains of the battle. She couldn't pull an expression or give a vocal sign of regret, but her eyes certainly showed all loss of hope, bleakly looking at the damage with no surprise nor thought, it had become accepted now, they had failed to protect this place. And even worse- everyone was now left at the whims of the insane.

She couldn't be bothered to continue to worry or care anymore, the prime merely closed her eyes as exhaustion took over, drifting off into a sleep as the chaos continued around her.

***

"Almost there now! Come on."

Whittorn had jogged ahead, looking about as the chants of bandits grew louder, though still faint. No one was really that optimistic about the outcome of this battle, but it was agreed that they had to try to get to the convoy's holdout, if worse came to worse a last stand could always go down, plenty of more horrible ways to go in a place like this. Especially since everyone else with him happened to be humans, and these bandits were no regular raiders- they were cannibals, human cannibals. Whittorn continued to grow more delicate with each step the further he got away from the tribal group behind him, looking down the path ahead with squinted eyes. Raising his pistol, the lizard waited, reluctantly breathing in the air that smelt of rotting bodies and burnt skin. Nothing could be seen except smoke and bodies, to which he remained suspicious over.

Jeff joined next to him, having jogged up with his rifle still in hand, scanning the path like his boss. Once the two silently concluded that there was nothing to be found, they motioned for the Eldest and her escort to follow. As soon as the tribes people behind them began moving, Whittorn and Jeff got up and went further down the path, continuing to watch for an enemy that couldn't be seen.

"There isn't any more gunfire you know." Jeff said, keeping his rifle raised as they moved down the street with slow steps.
"It just means that we won. No way they could've defeated a prime that-" Whittorn stopped himself, becoming silent. At first it seemed as if he saw something in the distance, but in reality he was just silently recalling how little Kalli knew when he first met her. "Okay, maybe they could have defeated her, but I'm not leaving my gear behind because of one flimsy defense." he added
"I say we just get one of the abandoned bandit cars running, then see how far the gas takes us. If you still have that map we could try to make it to-"
"Nope, forgot it in the truck, we need to get that back before we do anything else."
"Damn it."

Before they could continue their conversation, a loud rustling came from the left, then right- the corpses themselves rising up with guns coming out of from the sand, as if buried. From the huts surrounding them came bandits, pointing their guns and flanking them, the corpses having not been dead all along, and actually just a disguise by the Malicious Sons to catch them off guard. Before Whittorn or his companion could even comprehend it, they were surrounded. The tribal men and old woman behind them already being forced to drop their weapons. Jeff and Whittorn did the same, their weapons flopping into the sand before a bandit scavenger grabbed them, pulling them away and out of sight. Then the rest of the bandits closed in on the two men, taking out blunt weapons like clubs or- rather disgustingly -bones.

"Well that was a good run." Whittorn stated sarcastically, raising his hands
"Look on the bright side, you wont be eaten alive." Jeff replied blankly
"Yeah, well, those assholes destroyed my-" two loud 'thunks' echoed- both men swiftly knocked unconscious.

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 07-15-2016

There was a cacophony of pained groans and rattling chains. The air dry, those who breathed feeling nothing through their lungs. Plenty would begin coughing after attempting to get a gulp of the foul air- only spreading around the feeling of disgust that none could escape. The truck's container was filled to the brim with people, anyone who wasn't taller than the average height was lost in the crowd, the same went for the recently deceased laying on the floor. Even worse was that they were all chained together, unable to escape not only their captors, but any of the dead as well. The few flies that had made it inside were already pecking at the corpses or the dying, dispersing once the truck hit a bump before all flooding back into the exposed wounds of the bodies.

Above then was the chains in which bandits utilized to get around above the crowd, the chains themselves attached to the container's walls, going from one edge of the doorway, going all around the container and ending up on the other edge. There were four of the bandits, all wearing gasmasks as they kept firm grasps on the chains, crawling about while making sure they kept a good distance away from the prisoners. Only one of them had their rifle equipped, he was at the front of the container, having his arm tucked around the high above chain while having the rifle pointed at the captives. With a single pull of the trigger he could kill someone, he didn't even need to aim at all with how the prisoners were all packed right next to each other, like a sea of flesh that swayed every time the truck made a turn along the open desert. And this was all kept with a single dimly lit light, a pure red, the blood easily merging with the light, making it hard to tell if one was bleeding when they had only a mere cut.

Jeff was only one of many in this container. He, like many, remained quiet as the hum of the engines, as well as sound of the sick and dying went on around them. He lifted his hands to his face, looking at the bloodied cuffs that wrapped around his wrists. Tensing up, the human attempted to break apart the cuffs with each arm pulling in an opposite direction, pushing the two other exhausted prisoners with little care for them. After a uneventful twenty seconds, he gave up, lowering his hands back down with a sigh of frustration as his eyes closed, the two prisoners easing back into place. Breathing in slowly before repeating his sigh once more. Then he heard muttering.

It sounded more like insane ramblings, but that could be explained by the fact he didn't understand the language. The person behind him was speaking incoherently, becoming inaudible every time the truck's engine would roar, or if the desert winds howled loudly. After some time of listening to the voice, Jeff finally realized who it was- turning his head over his shoulder with curiosity. Aoki was standing there, seeming absolutely disconnected with the world with eyes staring ahead, empty of emotion or movement. Jeff didn't bother trying to catch the young man's attention, simply looking back ahead with frustration. He then thought to himself "We're all so helpless."

***

"I HATE being helpless."

Whitthorn yelled over the unbelievably loud noises that surrounded them, both hands and feet tied just like the prisoner next to him- Kalli. She had been woken up by the yelling and struggling, coming to realize that she was not only still living the nightmare she had fallen asleep to, but also that her own employer was captured as well. Whittorn continued to make noise, cursing and squirming with no avail. This eventually attracted the attention of a bandit on the roof, who would proceed to use the butt of his rifle, banging it on the roof right above Whitthorn to get his attention. Once the lizard looked upward, two angry eyes glared down at him with the bandit spatting "Stay quiet." before he backed away from the edge. The bandits stationed on the container seemed very nonchalant despite being on a moving on a truck at eighty miles per hour, with no safety either.

"Whitthorn," The prime stated, raising her voice a bit more "Whitthorn!" she repeated, the secondary finally looking over at her with mild surprise. "I thought you were dead, good to see you're not!" He spoke in a more cheery tone while attempting to smile, wincing in pain a a cut on his 'lip' stretched with his attempt "Alright, still in pain. But good to see you nonetheless." he finished, the cheery tone degrading into a plain and hopeless voice.

"Where is everyone?" She asked, twisting her hands and wrists in order to check if she could escape. Like Whitthorn, there was no success in doing so
"Very simply really. They're either in this container, or dead. Or us, I mean, it seems they don't like having humans and non-humans in the same room." He replied casually, not bothering to join in trying to escape.
"Great," Kalli then stopped, realizing her efforts wouldn't go anywhere "I don't suppose you have a knife on you, do you?"
Whitthorn looked insulted, as well as baffled "You really expect me to have one? And then be able to toss it with my hands tied?"
"Right, guess not."

Accepting their captivity, the two would then be left to think and observe in silence. Some hours later the convoy of bandits would end up coming closer to a canyon, delving deep into the passages, rolling through the wide crevices. Metal spikes and abandoned defensive positions littered the rocky scenery above them, such defenses would grow in number- as well as corpses laid about as warnings -before the convoy came upon the entrance to the cannibal lair, where many more armed savages awaited their feast.

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 07-18-2016

The entrance itself was a opening in the wall of the canyon, hidden away from any sunlight as the afternoon began to envelop the verse. As they drove along in shadow of the rocks and canyon walls, the convoy slowed it's pace when nearing a cave entrance. It was gigantic, the convoy had no need to line itself up in a neat column in order fit through- instead they would spread out, scattered around with Malgore's truck in the middle, rolling along slowly as they made their way through the cold winds and into the darkness of the cave. At first, there was no light, only the echoing of the wheels rolling over rock and the howling winds behind them while everyone casually kept moving blindly. It was not until the entire convoy had disappeared into the cave that they would light up the darkness with torches or candles.

Aside from the motorcycles, every vehicle had at least one metal plate with a candle on top, lighting it and putting it on the roof. Then, one fellow passenger of the vehicle would light a torch, hanging onto their transport or sticking out of the window, pointing their torches forward in silence. Kalli looked at the bandit on the container's roof, the same one who spat at Whitthorn earlier was now silent, quietly laying out rugged metal plates with candles all along the edge of the container, not even acknowledging the prime or the lizard. After the entire edge was decorated with candles- which he lit shortly after placing the last one -the bandit then disappeared, moving away from the edge once more.

"What in the name of..." Whitthorn trailed off, looking about the convoy while Kalli squinted at the darkness ahead of them, watching for...something. Every cannibal seemed at peace, blankly looking ahead with the rest of their friends, still and emotionless while their vehicles carried them along. The prime couldn't help but be suspicious, in suspense of what was in store for her and the rest of the captives within the unknown. At the same time, she felt at ease- all aggression the bandits had shown was gone, replaced with their empty stares. Ever since they entered the cave, the bandits hadn't even bothered to stare at Kalli or Whitthorn to make sure they weren't escaping.

After a few minutes of driving down their dark path, the entire convoy came to a halt. Two lights flashed above them.

At first Kalli was blinded by such a light- white flashing before them as generators hummed. Then her eyes adjusted, seconds later the wall came into appearance. It was massive, half the size of the cave entrance and made by the same brown, rusted metal that some vehicles used. Yells echoed from the top of the gate, unlike the bandits around Kalli the ones on the wall were energetic, rushing about to pull rows of levers and turn dials. A loud, mechanical noise bellowed, echoing throughout the cave causing unseen insects to disperse. Chains hauled the gate upward, attached sand pouring downward from the bottom of the gate as it went higher above the ground. Whitthorn looked at the scene before them in awe, while Kalli attempted to cut through her binds with her talons rather desperately.

Past the gate was where the cave ended- not as large as the gate may have made it seem. It was like a culdesac, the cave walls going in a full circle. All along the cave walls behind the gate were rugged buildings, put together via a mixture of scrap and wood. There were also a few structures on the sandy floor as well, but none had been built in the middle where even more vehicles laid in wait to be used. Some of these structures were dark, uninhabited and cold, while others had people coming out of flying open doors, gathering to see the bandits return. Everyone who lived here looked like a savage of sorts, from the lanky and abused to the muscled and violent, no trace of civilization left on them as their clothes were torn apart, bodies undoubtedly infected with all the rugged bumps or sickly postures.

While the convoy began driving on through the gate, the crowds rushed outside and would form a circular mob, coming in closer toward the middle while Malgore's truck got ever closer to them. Once the entire convoy was through the gate, the door would be left to fall back into the sand, left to drop downward and slam into the floor, pushing up sand and causing specs to fly everywhere. Afterwards, those stationed at the gate would begin to clamber down and rush toward the convoy, or simply stay at their posts, looking down at the convoy's return with intrigue on what they brought. Once the vehicles stopped moving, the mob would close in, flooding past vehicles and gathering around Malgore's truck. Malgore then proceeded to get out of his chair, preparing to make a declaration.

Two things were certain; silence had been broken and death was coming.

"I have come back with what was promised, we shall celebrate with a feast! And have a valuable prize in our possession." He shouted, voice booming over the crowd and echoing through the cavern. The crowd and those on their vehicles broke out into incomprehensible chanting, cheering, raving and singing. Before Kalli or Whitthorn could register what was going on, the ropes had already been cut and their bodies were covered in hands- people grabbing and pulling them under. They were then subsequently knocked out once more.

The back of the truck would then slam open- the prisoners forced to walk out slowly, dragging along any bodies attached to the chains. Every single of these prisoners would've been baffled at the change of scenery, but the yelling of the bandits and oncoming doom kept them from expressing anything. The chains were soon broken off, people dragged away to be tied to poles and be used later as food. An unfortunate few were already chosen for feeding the cannibal populace, prepared to be burnt over fires that the crowd began to hastily make. Those prisoners successful in escaping were quickly shot, and those who struggled would be beaten senselessly. Jeff was one of those struggling, trying to free himself before meeting a fate much like Whitthorn and Kalli, a blunt weapon smashed into his head once more.

***
At this point, Kalli felt like going in and out of consciousness was going to become a trend.

She awoken to find herself once more tied, What a surprise she thought sarcastically, not even bothering to struggle out of the rope. Even worse, she was standing- her leg muscles had little time to recover from all that had happened, still burning like...Yesterday? Or was it still today? She couldn't tell the time here, especially with the gate blocking the way to the entrance, or in her case, exit. After lifting up her head however, the idea of an exit seemed very far fetched.

"So you're awake." Malgore stated, not even staring at her while he felt the tip of a knife- her knife -with his pointer finger. A small wound appeared where his skin met the blade, to which he looked at curiously, rubbing the wound against his thumb and smearing the blood away. "We have much to talk about." He added, looking directly at her eyes

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 07-21-2016

Behind Malgore was the row of vehicles, all of them facing the left and pointing toward the gate with their hectic spikes, piping and bloodied hoods and doors. No one was in them, each one with a empty and unlit interior that would make any criminal hijack it in an instant. Beyond these vehicles were a collection of the same huts that Kalli had seen when they passed the gate, smoke coming up from the area despite none of the huts being on fire, with chanting and raving alike that of the cannibal mob, all the while was a inhumanly loud screaming. The prime could bear with the fact that the cannibals were lighting people on fire- she had seen something like that one too many times -it was possible they were cooking their prisoners over a campfire even, but the fact the cannibals sung to it made everything surreal, like as if she was listening to the audio of hell. She was rather relieved that there were none of the cannibals from the mob where she, Malgore and Whitthorn were, interestingly there were a lack of huts within their immediate vicinity as well. Some structures were placed farther along their right which connected with the full circle of huts along the cave wall, but they were much like the vehicles- empty.

Kalli then looked to her left; a barely conscious Whitthorn stared at the sand floor, head tilted with cuts and bruises all along his body. Shirt torn and drenched in blood all the while his body was limp, like as if he was a puppet without someone keeping him upright, the rope that tied his hands to the pole was the only thing keeping him 'standing.' Coughing, he tried to lift his head, barely succeeding as his head would shake, body tensing as his muscles were too torn to work. Once he had her in view, the lizard attempted to speak, only for Kalli's face to be forcefully turned to away from his direction. Malgore's eyes looked directly in hers.

"So, is it true? You're a prime, those primitives assured me so." Malgore said, his voice was tranquil despite how tightly his grasp was on her head. Once he had spoken however, he let go, assuming she'd keep staring at him.

"Yes." she said reluctantly, a scowl on her face.

"Well, I was summoned by-" Malgore began, looking as if he was about to go through a proud speech

Kalli wasn't going to have it however, interrupting swiftly with "A prime, who then disappeared and caused the tribe to halve. I assume this is that other half?"

Malgore straightened his back, standing at full height now while tranquility was maintained in all but the eyes, eyebrows lowering downward while he lifted his head, looking down at her in hidden disgust. At full height he stood 7ft, just looming over her. Compared to the rest of the secondaries Malgore was a giant, a truly dangerous man physically. For a second Kalli would wonder; was he summoned like that or did the desert shape him into this? It was a disturbing thought either way, that to survive here you needed to be stronger than most of the civilized people in the sparse and dangerous towns dotted within the verse. She could only hope he was a one of a kind, but there was a strong doubt in her gut that said otherwise.

In an instant he grabbed her throat, tightening his grip and while standing tall above her, he spoke in a low voice as Kalli was left to struggle with breathing, gasping for air like a fish out of water "I appreciate the fact you're still alive and our most valued captive, but I cannot promise either of those if you challenge my temper." Malgore said, watching the prime fight and wheeze just to breathe. For a few seconds he kept it like this, merely looking down at her with anger. Loosening his grip and then finally letting go, he took a step back, the prime would begin to hack while trying to breathe, unable to intake air for a short time while her windpipe opened up again.

"I'll leave you to reflect on your behavior," he said, pausing in thought while Kalli finally gained the strength to look back up at him. Malgore continued, making a content click before speaking "you like to think you're a morally just prime, right? That we're uncivilized savages that deserve to be slaughtered? I'm well aware of what those other...realms are like. Some unbelievably innocent and law abiding, while others are much, much worse than what I've been through. Each of them have their own cycle of how to live, everyone needs to work in a certain way to achieve something. I want you to know that what I do here is one of those cycles, I bring food back to these pitiful people, just like how some hunt down animals and bring their meat back to the local market. Just because the food is sapient doesn't give them special rights or put them above death. Consider that, and you'll understand why siding with peaceful primitives is a mistake." Once he was done talking in his empty tone, Malgore turned about to leave, walking between the rows of vehicles without a care in the world about looking back.

Little did he know that all the while he was talking, Kalli was busy using her sharp talons on her hands to cut through the rope tying her wrists. She hadn't even bothered to listen to his speech, instead merely staring at Malgore to make it seem like she was. It worked, making the prime rather proud of herself, but that was erased once the screaming of those being cooked alive echoed louder than ever in the distance. As soon as Malgore was out of sight Kalli cut through the last of the rope, dropping to the sand on all fours, she pushed herself up into a crouch and used one of her knees to once more push herself to her feet. Once standing straight, the prime limped toward the barely conscious Whitthorn.

"Are you alright?" She asked, using one hand to take grip of the pole, holding herself up while the other hand began to cut through the rope around Whitthorn's wrists. He didn't bother replying, making a noise that that was both a cough and gurgling, blood dripping from his mouth. He tried to move his head, to look up at her in disbelief at the prime's own escape, but all he could do is tilt his head from side to side. "Alright, don't worry, I'm just about done." She cut through the last rope, causing Whitthorn to fall onto the floor as lifelessly as she did when she was knocked off the pickup in the previous battle. She put an arm under his shoulder and got him to his feet.

"We're going to get out of here, can you drive?" She asked, looking at him while he dragged his feet through the sand. The lizard merely nodded, breathing sporadically as his wounds brought torment with every movement. Seeing as most of the Malicious Sons drove rather small cars, Kalli's panic began to rise as she searched for a sizable vehicle to carry a good few people. Whitthorn then made a grunt, rolling his head to the left before rolling it toward her shoulder. She looked- to their left as a pickup, just like Whitthorn's, minus the heavy machine gun. "Perfect." She muttered, carrying him over and placing him in the drivers seat. Fortunately it was at the front row, making their escape so much easier.

"Are the keys still in there?" She asked, just about to close the car door.

"Yes." He said, quietly, sounding as if his vocal cords were in absolute disarray.

"Good, I'll be coming back with some extra hands, once we're all in I want you to charge full speed through the gate."

"And what if the gate isn't open by the time you're back?" Whitthorn asked, his voice still coarse.

There was a pause, "I'll think of something." she said, slamming the door right after and charging off down the row of vehicles, hating herself over how little time they had. He needed medical attention, but there was nothing she could do as of now except hope Whitthorn wouldn't go unconscious from blood loss, or die.

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 07-23-2016

There was a strong desire to head straight for the mob, the chanting and callous cannibals that were encircling their fire. But the desire was suppressed, the need for violence replaced with a focus; reclamation of her own weapons and armor.

It was becoming a easy task, so many bandits believing that their priority was to join in with the crowd, praising Malgore's ability to capture so many prisoners. In reality, they were all desperate; the young ones would easily be allured to the idea of joining the feast just as much as the older and abused were easily drawn to the smell of cooked flesh, hoping for some food. Not all had decided to join in this however, those who were more independent- such a rarity among the Malicious Sons, it seemed -would travel about the empty huts with their gang of selected comrades, casually talking as the uncivilized mess that was the feast would go down behind the huts that they moved between. Kalli would pop her head out every now and then as she sneaked, watching as a group of bandits would walk along and speak in their varied accents, more accents than she knew of. It became almost impossible to understand some of them as they would speak in ways that was completely foreign, and to the prime rather absurd. But they all spoke of a place that she knew was her next objective: The Armory.

The prime continued avoiding each patrol with some effort, climbing and sudden sprints or slides between cover, perhaps a small thrown object or two for good measure, distracting a patrol and drawing them away from her direction. Finally, she was in running distance of the armory, a giant green sign- something like that of a modern highway -hanged above the door, with the word "Armory" etched into the metal, ignoring any other word that was painted on the sign. The armory, like many buildings in this cavern, was made of two materials; wood and metal. It was about two stories high, with a metal roof and wooden walls with no windows cut into them. However, unlike the rest of the huts the armory had a light, it was a yellow that shined through the cracks of the walls all throughout the structure. It wasn't a bright light, but it was quite apparent someone had something on. Wires also seemed to be hanging above the armory as well, these wires stretching out from rooftop to rooftop, not connecting to the other huts but merely using them to get back to the generator near the gate without having to expose itself on the sand.

Kalli smiled to herself, leaning out and looking down any nearby pathways while remaining behind her cover, which was nothing more than a stack of old barrels. There was nothing to be found, the 'streets' cold and empty like a ghost town, to which she didn't bother thinking about; the prime made her sprint, running up to the armory door and opening it hastily, before shutting it behind her. Its creaking did not go unnoticed.

"Hey," A tattooed bandit turned her head around, staring back between the huts from where they came "I heard something."
The entire group of five all turned their heads and bodies around, looking down the path with alarmed hearts and awakened minds.
"Spread out, a prisoner may have escaped." One of them whispered, to which the rest nodded, all carefully moving back the way they came as if they were about to stumble upon an ambush. As they delicately moved along, one of them finding footprints in the sand, inhuman and unlike anything they would dare capture for the feast. They'd soon huddle around the print, looking in the direction where it went while one bandit was crouched, looking at the print and touching the sand, rubbing it between his fingertips.

"These footsteps aren't human, is it the prime? Did she escape?" One asked
"Fresh prints, walking alone for sure." the crouching one replied
"Shit, Malgore wont like this. We're following the trail." the tattooed one ordered

They all then began to move again, soon coming upon the door of the armory. It was without question; breach and clear.

***

"I don't know what to do."

Aoki didn't comprehend. Well, he couldn't comprehend with how he merely kept looking down at the sand with his ears closed off to the world. He didn't even know that he spoke aloud, something which Jeff heard quite easily. The two were still cuffed together and their chains linked to the remaining prisoners, left to sit on their knees, the large fire in front of them keeping their faces in the light despite the fact few would dare look into it directly. If the survivors managed to make it through all this, plenty of trauma was to follow with how many had watched friends and family cooked and pushed into the fire, left to die as their skin and clothes were consumed in flames. Aoki was traumatized long before that however, unprepared for reality of battle, looking like a pup without its mother.

"But I do," Jeff said, looking down at Aoki with the calmest expression among the prisoners "and I need your help."
Aoki slowly raised his head, looking up at the man with a look that spoke of sorrow without even needing a word.

Jeff began "You know the two who keep picking people up?" those 'two' were the cannibals assigned to tie the prisoners to poles and cook them over the fire, some of the strongest and biggest in the tribe. Aoki hesitantly nodded to Jeff's statement, shaking and sweating at the idea of defying their captors. Jeff continued "I'm going to get the attention of both, you'll leap onto the back of one, strangle him with your cuffs and then I'll do the same to the other guy. We'll stop strangling them once they stop moving, got it?"

"But this is suicide, even if we're both successful-" Aoki began, quickly interrupted
"Look, a slow death is right in front of you," Jeff nodded toward the flames while speaking "you can take that or try to fight back and hope for the best. Your choice."

Aoki looked down at the cuffs, seeing his reflection in the chains that linked each cuff. "My choice..." he muttered to himself.

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 07-25-2016

The room was stuffy, dust particles floating all around the rooms which faded in and out of sight as the light bulbs flickered every few minutes. The floorboards creaked and groaned under the weight of Kalli's body, making her feel all the more uncomfortable about being here. It was also hard to breathe, aside from all the dust and clutter no fresh air was able to get through the walls, the place having almost all space taken up by it's tables displaying equipment, closets with weapon racks and the weapons themselves! She guessed that only one person could fit between all the clutter ahead of her, a 'hallway' of displayed assault rifles and machine guns. To her left and some feet away from the entrance was a doorway, through it was another room with much more space, lacking any weapons or clutter while there was a staircase built into the wall across from the doorway itself.

Once the entrance whined, closing behind her the prime would proceed to investigate the armory, at first she was hasty; trying to be thorough as time was against her. But the search was coming up bad so far, the racks filled with weapons that she was nowhere near familiar with. As time went on, the prime began to curse to herself, opening the weapon closets before slamming them shut again, the search still coming up as a failure. Soon the prime was sweating, haphazardly tossing weapons aside as she dug through the stockpile, desperate to find anything that was taken from her during the battle. In a matter of a few minutes the entire room was tossed into disarray, the ammunition boxes tossed into the walls with their contents spilling out once their tops collided with the floor, weapons were thrown away landing onto tables or other piles, clattering against one another as Kalli continued her search. Even boxes of grenades were thrown to the side, joining the rest of the dismissed equipment with little care.

Once the last of the weapon closets had been searched through the prime would tense up, groaning in exasperation before leaving this location of the armory. However, there was no easing in this place, the screams of those burning once more could be heard echoing through the cavern, the noise crept in through the cracks on the walls, prompting Kalli to remain focused and speed toward the staircase steps. Grabbing the stair's railing to prevent herself from slamming into the wall, her arms pulled herself onto the first step, the rest of the way she would use her legs to skip about two steps at most, nearly leaping up the staircase before opening the door at the top, moving into the second floor and once more shutting the door behind her. The wood still creaked, the air was still dry and the light bulbs dangling on their wires still flickered, but it wasn't a cluttered mess like the first floor.

At first she had merely entered a hallway, empty, with a single light to pierce the darkness. To the left was nothing, mere metal walls unlike the wooden ones on the lower level, but to her right was another doorway. Seeing it as the only way to further her search, Kalli walked with a steady pace toward the door, the closer she got to it the larger the room on the other side seemed to get. Once standing in the doorway, the entirety of the armory's true weapons were revealed; intact C4, rocket launchers, sci-fi blasters and salvaged together armor. There was also the usual display of pistols and rifles, but even they were different than the norm with their spotlessness and lack of personal decorations. Kalli walked on in, observing it all in quick glances before turning to look at the center of the room. There was a long pause once her eyes came upon the cross.

Finely crafted with string tied around the center, the cross was some of the purest and freshest wood that the Malicious Sons had their hands on, the cross kept in place by a perfectly cut hole in the floor looking as if it had merged with the floor itself. The cross was right below the brightest light in the room, a single one that never flickered nor faded, keeping the cross and everything around perfectly exposed to the smallest of details. That alone would've made Kalli see this place as incredibly eerie, but the fact her own combat vest was put onto the cross as if it was a person wearing it made her fraught. She immediately unequipped the combat vest from the cross, searching it for any sign of hampering on the combat vest. It was just as she wore it in battle, a tad bit rugged but still had her name tag and ammo pouches.

As she put on her armor the prime noticed words etched in on the cross's arms, squinting while putting on the vest, the prime's eyes looked from one arm of the cross to another. " For Malgore only," She read, pausing once more before speaking again, scoffing at the etched in words "yeah right, going to have to take it off my corpse first."

There were tables at both sides of the cross, having the prime's weapons- and presumably other weapons stolen from pimes, seeing how some of them were beyond that of anything logical to her -on display next to the armor. She took her own weapons, ignoring the rest, ammunition was put back in the vest pouches before she sheathed the combat knife, putting the container of deploy-able shields on her belt and equipping the autogun. Like the armor, they had not changed at all since the last battle. Before deciding to leave the prime made a last second trip through the second floor, stealing all the handheld explosives she could.

Once done, the prime went back to the door, opening it and started to walk down the staircase with newfound hope.
Only to hear the entrance of the armory open as well, making a loud whine as the floorboard began to creak after it, five armed bandits moving in with clear knowledge that someone was in here who shouldn't be.

***

"Get up."

Slapping the back of Aoki's head, the tall man repeated himself, "Get up." he said with a much louder voice. Aoki got to his feet, legs shaking as the flames whipped back and forth below the cooked corpses ahead of him. They were taken off the fire, untied from the burnt pole and then given to the mob, which tore into the body like animals, causing flesh and bone to fly everywhere as they surrounded it. His breathing quickened, the chain which attached him to the rest of the prisoners was unlocked, a loud 'thump' as the chain fell into the sand. He still had his linked cuffs on him however, which the giant man grabbed, just about to drag the young man away from the rest.

However, the giant man let go almost right after, Aoki's hands falling back down as the distant struggling grew ever louder. Prisoners yelled in support as Jeff had leaped onto the back of the second large man, strangling him with the cuff's chains while having feet planted on his back, riding the giant cannibal like a bull. The giant spun around, attempting to elbow him off while the chain tightened around his throat, looking like he was doing a drunken dance around the fire while less oxygen was filling his lungs. It seemed he was about to stumble to the floor, tripping over his on feet and kicking up sand, but his death was not to come so soon. Jeff was quickly grabbed by the other man, tossed into the sand violently.

Aoki wasn't the only one watching this however, inspired by Jeff's sudden attempt the prisoners began to get up in unison and strike out against the cannibal mob, a full blown street war of chained prisoners and unprepared bandits in a melee of crowds, pushing, tackling and strangling each other. The cavern soon became a giant brawling ground, with few guns ever being fired at the start.

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 07-26-2016

There were only five gunshots.
Each went off consecutively, all equally loud and thunderous, a 'crack' going off with every flash. The muzzle flashes were a blaze of light, from the outside it looked as if the sun had consumed the interior, turning everything into yellow and white flashes between the cracks of the walls for a millisecond before disappearing again. A loud thud would follow as well, like the gunshots the thuds would come one after another, adding to the chorus of noise coming from inside. Following the last gunshot was silence, only the ever-growing melee could be heard echoing down the streets. The door swung open a few seconds later.

Two clawed feet landed on the sand a step below the doorway, quickly lifted up and put on the move again. As the prime would continue onward without a thought to the secondaries she had just killed, her feet would leave a thin trail of all the blood through the pathways she strolled.

***

Jeff rolled left, then right, then twice to the left. Sand getting into his clothing and rubbing against his skin. He would kick at the ground, pushing his hands against the floor and trying to get away from the large man. It didn't work. Once the large man had a hold of Jeff's ankle however he'd kick with the other leg, violently smashing his boot into the face of the muscly man, the heel specifically aimed at his nose. After the third kick, the man howled, reeling back and holding onto his broken nose. "Aoki, get him!" Jeff yelled, looking at the young tribal some distance away, who was still standing with his horror filled face. He didn't move, not even in the slightest, and no one attacked him to break him out of his trance.

"Aoki! Damn it!" Jeff cursed under his breath, eyes darting back to the large man who had adapted to the pain in his face. With a disturbingly bloody mouth, he howled once more; not in pain, but in anger. Leaping to his feet, Jeff raised both fists in preparation for the oncoming attack, giving a cold stare back to his roaring opponent. However, the man stayed where he was, looking back with his face slowly coming to a smile.

Jeff could feel himself suddenly hovering in the air, having been picked up by the back of his shirt's collar. "Forget about me?" the person said.
"Shit." Jeff cursed once more, looking into the eyes of the larger man's comrade; the same man he had attempted to strangle in the first place.

As Jeff was then beaten by the two men who happily attempted to break bones and bruise skin, Aoki was left breathing heavily, mind still left swimming for answers among the sea of violence. The crowds of prisoners and bandits still pushed and pulled, farther from the campfire now as they fought in the 'streets.' Skin brushed against skin, muzzle flashes of guns came from the rooftops of huts, failing to scare off the riot. Some prisoners were able to steal keys, proudly throwing their cuffs at the cannibal groups before the prisoners charged into the fray once more, punching, biting and grabbing at their foes with the dream of freedom once more in reach. It was as if this was all in slow motion, every tiny detail picked out by Aoki's disturbed mind. Broken teeth falling out of bloodied mouths, the wounded screaming for help while lost in the mobs, those begging for forgiveness as they would struggle in the violently tight grasp of the enemy, and of course the dead bodies, yet to rot with their eyes wide open.

He was left to stand there, eyes having lost all trace of sapience. A husk is all he was, looking but not understanding, fearing it all but unable to stop watching. Muscles would twitch every now and then at the sight of someone being hurt, but it was only a mere reflex.

Then two distinct gunshots could be heard over all the shooting, stabbing, screaming and yelling. Aoki's head immediately rotated, broken from his trance and looking in the direction of where the shots came from.

Three more boomed, each one followed by a corpse of a bandit falling from the rooftops. It wasn't long before the bandits on the roofs dispersed, seeking cover or merely retreating, Kalli following them with her rifle and firing a few more shots at those leaping away. Once she had passed over a fighting crowd and neared a roof that had sight over the campfire, she aimed- two more gunshots echoed, the two large men falling into the sand with a surprised Jeff crawling out from under them, looking toward where the bullets came from; Kalli rolled as she touched the sand, having leaped off the rooftop with ease. Jeff then got to his feet, Aoki joining him at his side with a admiring stare toward the prime.

"You're alright?" Kalli asked, looking at the two. Jeff ripped a key from one of the corpses of his deceased attackers, unlocking Aoki's cuffs.
Jeff replied "I'm fine. But this kid here isn't going to be, brain is fried-"
"No," Aoki interrupted, looking at the two- who stared back in surprise -though giving a confident nod toward the prime "I can fight, I just need a weapon."

Kalli looked at Jeff, who then looked at Aoki before looking back at the prime. "You don't need to give him anything. But give me your pistol at least"

She agreed, unlocking the holster on her right thigh, taking out the pistol while letting her rifle hang off of the sling wrapped around her shoulders. As the rifle swayed back and forth, her free talon took all the pistol clips, collecting them before letting them drop onto the palm of Jeff's hand. His other hand was given the grip of the pistol. "It isn't meant for long range combat, so don't try to go sniping with it." she warned, before raising a finger and pointing over a mob of prisoners and cannibals fighting each other "Down there is a armory, try to gather everyone you can and steal all the equipment that works. Then I need you to get back to the row of vehicles out in the center, Whitthorn is going to be sitting in a pickup that looks like his, you should know it when you see it."

"What about you?" Aoki asked.
"I'm going to find out where The Eldest is, and get that gate open. Stay safe, I should be done in a hour at most." Kalli said, then suddenly running off and charging through a crowd prisoners and cannibals. After a few seconds of gunshots, the prisoners had the upper hand, smashing any resistance the retreating cannibals put up while Kalli had completely disappeared, having moved off toward the gate that loomed ahead.

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 07-30-2016

To begin opening the gate would require a climb up along its wall. The gate/wall itself was 15 meters tall, a high wall for a big cavern, made out of stone bricks stacked upon each other and kept together via varying materials, cement of course being one of them. It didn't change it's cold grey look however, as well as it's exposed holes or large cracks. The side of the wall facing the town was in absolute disrepair, unlike the side that faced the cave entrance. At the top of the gate was sandbags, with metal and wooden bars pointing upward, keeping the makeshift roof stable. A ladder leaned against the stone up to the edge of the wall where a hole in the defenses was made to climb on through, more ladders were placed farther to the left, not being placed on the gate while spread out to be made sparse, but still in sight of each other. Kalli hadn't bothered to use the ladders however, those would be too predictable for her attackers! No, instead she avoided bullets while leaping up the stone wall, placing her talons in the cracks and crevices she could find.

Her enemies would gather around at ground level, a few with melee weapons would proceed to climb up after the prime, all the while bullets smashed into the wall causing dust to flake off by mere impact. Kalli would take hold of a sandbag once she was at the edge, pulling herself up onto her side as bullets flew around her. Once she was successfully placed on the sandbag, she'd roll off it, landing onto the wall's stone floor with a grunt, laying on her stomach. In a instant of seeing a bandit she steadied the aim of her rifle, the bandit further along the defenses quickly drawing out a pistol; his chest was punctured numerous times, red puffs of smoke followed by crimson blood gushing from his wounds. Once he had fallen to the floor there was already a decent puddle, causing a small splash around him. Kalli scrambled to her feet in a crouched position, moving forth to find the levers needed to open the gate.

It didn't take long before more bandits would be rushing toward her, having heard the gunfire or continuing their chase. Kalli would do the same as had been done with the initial bandit; bullets ruptured skin and muscle, blood poured out and bandits left dying. This type of encounter would happen four more times as the search for the levers continued, bandits climbing upwards via their ladders, flanking or directly assaulting the prime. Each time it happened the prime would halt in her movement, steadying her aim and pulling the trigger as many times as she could. Wherever the rifle pointed there were corpses to be found, the bandits collapsing instantly or the wounded pushed aside by their fellow cannibals, charging forth with fanatic devotion to defending the wall. Each encounter was short, barely a minute with little time or skill needed to aim in such a condensed zone of fire. They typically came from either one end of the wall or the other, front or back in Kalli's case. Some were much more daring however, crawling off the edge and using the roof and sandbags as a way to avoid the gunfire, hanging off them as the bandits had hanged from their vehicles.

After some time of gunshots and screaming, the final bandit fell to the floor, head with chunks of flesh torn out from the inside as the bullet had made a perfect hole through the center. The prime relaxed, breathing slowed while no more noise came from the wall. She looked out toward the town, reminding her eerily of the tribe out in the desert. Flames and undoing of years of work. It was the same as yesterday, but at least this time she could feel the cool air of the night desert (and the direction of freedom) on her back.

But this relaxation was a vulnerability. A human swung in from the rooftop, boots kicking into her face before landing onto the wall with ease. Kalli's back was against the sandbags that faced the exit of the cave, too late in covering her face. With a yell, the reckless bandit leaped toward the prime and attempted to stab her directly in the chest, but her talons met his hands, pushing back against the rusty blade and the cannibal's pale skin. After struggling for some time Kalli's feet clawed into the cannibal's uncovered stomach, causing him to back away in pain. While he remain hunched over gripping his stomach, Kalli drew her own knife slowly enough that the bandit noticed and tried to retaliate. But she swiftly punched his face as soon as the first move was made, knocking him to the ground and the prime following him by landing on one knee, stabbing him in the back of the head twice.

By the end of the second stab Kalli slowed herself, merely keeping the blade there and staring downward. All this action and violence making her seem like she came out of a horror film, crimson red covering her hands, arms, front of her face and torso. Disgust raised in her throat, a need to vomit from all the adrenaline and lack of refreshment, like as if she had suddenly became sick. But the prime forced the feeling back down with a swallow, violently ripping the knife out again and rubbing the blood off of the knife onto her vest. She then sheathed it, getting onto her feet with a disgruntled look as her head lifted up, look out toward the burning town.

Best get this done quick she thought, continuing her advance toward the levers after hesitantly looking back at the trail of corpses.

***

A relaxing scent of warm tea made it feel tranquil, away from chaos; the candles carefully placed in the center between the two persons while they sat on pillows which were placed on top of a fine rug. The place couldn't avoid having some dust and sand about it, but effort had been put in to keep the room clean and it showed. Even the Eldest, the prisoner in this room, had been forcefully washed and given new clothes before entering Malgore's chamber. Some feet from her back was the door, with a single guard standing there, staring with the utmost silence and discipline. Malgore meanwhile was washing his face in front of her, beyond the gathering of candles, a finely crafted bowl was in front of Malgore, holding the liquid that was ever-so-rare in the Endless Dunes.

The Eldest broke silence "You're disgusting. We were summoned to protect and create a safe haven for those in the Dunes. Instead, you decided to take half of our people and going on some sort of rampage. For what? To kill?"

"For power, and to entertain someone else." Malgore opened his eyes, a cloth being used to dry his hands. He then place it at his side, never breaking eye contact with The Eldest. Continuing, Malgore spoke calmly "When our maker had summoned us- I'm sure you remember the many talks -he said omnilium is gathered by entertaining the god, omnilium also gives them power, makes primes stronger. The god seems to be most entertained by violence from what I've gathered, which is why primes are always sent on exceptionally dangerous tasks, well, also because they're immortal. This is why I didn't kill that creature who attempted to defend your primitive people. Tonight and maybe even tomorrow, she'll become a powerful adversary, one that will be exhausted from all this fighting."

"You're putting yourself, your people as well, in a fight just to make a single prime stronger?" The Eldest looked at him, baffled by the words uttered from his mouth.

"Exactly, and in doing so I will then break that prime, proving that even the powerful and stubborn can be conquered, rather violently. Afterwards I'll be able to influence and inspire those around me, having a live, wounded prime as an example of my power."

"Will that even matter after the fires die out? Your raiders are already having trouble dealing with my people."

"Oh it will. Because once the fires die I'll have a prime in my grasp, able to hurt them all I want, posing an example to any riot or rebel in my midst."

"You're rather confident in your abilities to torture people."

"I've had experience, especially with the servants of the Empire. Though stormtroopers don't make for much fun." he gritted his teeth at The Eldest, before relaxing "Anyway, this is where you come in. I'm offering a dilemma; you tell the prime to stay and fight for your own escape, which in turn will be keeping her exhausted enough that I'll eventually capture her, thus causing all that has been said. Or, you could tell her to flee, making your death inevitable and allowing me to regain control with little opposition, and I'll be left to found a new village away from this mess. There is also the third option but beheading you like I did to your, 'Warrior Chief' was it? Wouldn't be so profitable."

Malgore's face went to a smirk. "Your choice, I'm sure the prime wont even listen to you anyway, seeing herself as a hero I'm sure. So take this chance to escape from a violent death." the guard then approached Malgore, adorning him in the metal vest.

"Why give me this option? If you're so confident in capturing her, in that she'll stay here, how do I factor into this?" The Eldest asked

"Because I want you to know one thing." the guard slowly placed a barbute helmet on Malgore, once it was fully on, Malgore got to his feet, walking past The Eldest without a care "no matter what happens, you'll lose." he then exited through the door, the guard grabbing The Eldest by her arm and bringing her along.

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 08-06-2016

The wooden platform stuck out off the edge of the wall, looking over the cave's darkness. Behind it facing the town was the panels, numerous dials and buttons, a lot of them weren't even related to the gate itself, instead they were merely controls for the few generators that were about the village. It reminded Kalli a lot of a dam, a highly fortified and blood soaked dam. The silence continued since her last battle, no bandit in sight as the wind howled outside the cave, candle flames on the edge of the wall would whip back and forth. Kalli swung her weapon around her shoulder, the sling wrapped around her torso as the weapon thumped against her back. Approaching the platform was a slow, thoughtful process, delicately placing her claws on the wooden floor while looking out at the levers. Each lever was a metal rectangle with a brown handle at the top, stuck into a cylinder machine with circular discs attached to it, that was lined out along the platform. Between each circle and wrapped around the cylinder were chains, though only two of these circular chain machines were in use, the one farthest to the left and one farthest to the right. The chains attached to these two machines went upward into the air, tucked around a metal bar which hangs from the ceiling, then the chains went sharply back down, connecting to the top of the gate.

She was impressed, to think that the cannibals actually had insight on engineering (if oddly fantastical, seeing as the weight of the gate hasn't broken the ceiling bar.) Kalli approached one of the levers, tugging at it lightly; it felt jammed, as if unable to move, like it was locked between two rocks. She pulled it again with her her strength, the lever flew back and the chains rattled, the cylinder began to roll up the chains and lifting up one corner of the gate. But as soon as she let go of the lever the gate would slam back into the sand and the cylinder unrolled itself. The second lever that could lift the other half of the gate was quite a length away, and there were no allies in sight. The prime cursed to herself, this wasn't going to work. Backing away from the levers she began to devise a new plan.

***

The armory was sacked like invaders raiding foreign land, their captors were unable to retaliate and the tribals/convoy guards were stealing numerous military grade weapons, bows and arrows, and for a few they retrieved old weapons. Aoki and Jeff didn't lead it as much as they directed it; every retreat made by the bandits would be followed by a offensive push by the prisoners, having conveniently lead the mobs here. People were still rushing out of the armory with their newfound equipment, some dispersed from the main crowd around the armory to kill more cannibals and the damage only increased across the cavern village. Jeff attempted to get the attention of the gathering prisoners collecting weapons, but everyone was discussing their own ideas of what to do and where to go.

"Attention!? Hello!?" His feet moved on top of the box, his body twirling around to see if anyone was looking at him. Despite all the aggression or power put into his voice no one would bother listening. Aoki stood next to Jeff idly, a holster wrapped around his leg with Kalli's pistol in it. Either of them hadn't bothered using it, and nor did the young tribal man want anything like a rifle, so Jeff had stolen a rifle of his own while giving Aoki the responsibility of keeping the prime's pistol with them. The young man's stillness wouldn't be maintained for long, fiddling with the worn red cloth on his torso. Jeff gave a heavy sigh, peering at the armed prisoners before stepping off the box, discussing with Aoki.

"We're sitting ducks here trying to get everyone moving. Best we go off to find Whitthorn and get out of here." Jeff looked beyond the crowd, toward the gate.
"And leave everyone behind?" Aoki asked, offended.
"If they don't want to listen, what can we do?"
"We wait for the prime to come back, she'll be able to get everyone moving."
"It doesn't matter if she can get everyone moving, once those bandits regroup we'll be surrounded."
"But there are enough of us to hold them off!"

The two continued to argue, bickering like any other group in the crowd, unaware of those running out of the armory in a panic. A fire had started, a accident that soon got out of control- the remaining ammunition was being consumed by the sudden combustion. Once everyone outside could see the armory was indeed on fire, the last of the prisoners ran out of the armory, shouting about a oncoming explosion. Jeff was absolutely baffled by all this, leading Aoki to tackle him and both falling onto the ground once the armory went up in flames. It sparked, metal and wood flew everywhere, sand and dirt raining down onto everyone's heads as if it was raining and the crowd ducked in fear. At first neither of them moved, laying there lifelessly in hope that no shards pierce their skin. But after a few seconds, Jeff came to a realization.

"Wait, this is it!" Jeff stated with joy.

Aoki looked back at him baffled before being forcefully rolled off, Jeff got to his feet excitedly and leaped onto the box- astoundingly still there -and the crowd began to look up to the ruined armory, Jeff in front of it.

"Attention!" Jeff shouted, a large metal plate fell beside him, stabbing into the ground. He continued, unfazed "As you may know, we currently lack a way out. Not anymore! As of right now the prime who came here with us is attempting to open the gate, what we must do is acquire the means to actually escape; vehicles! I'm sure you remember how we were brought in here, well, those same vehicles can be driven by our people," he motioned toward some of the remaining convoy guards "and bring us away from this place. So I say we follow through with this plan and acquire us some rides, who is with me!?"

The prisoners didn't cheer, but there was a definite agreement among all as some nodded and others discussed with hope for an escape. Stepping off his makeshift stand, Jeff helped Aoki get to his feet saying "Guess all we needed was an explosion to get their attention."

Laughably, their attention would turn towards the gate- which exploded in a fury of flames, smoke and concrete.

RE: A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized - Kalli - 08-06-2016

The shattered stone pieces smashed into sand splashing it around like water, falling with all their weight as the gate itself would fall flat onto the floor, like a door without hinges. Kalli was well away from the destruction when she activated the explosives, having planted C4 all around the gate door itself. After the smoke cleared and the gate door had fallen, Kalli made her way back to Whittorn's truck with utmost haste, claws sliding through the sand as she grabbed the pickup door, coming to a halt and swinging it open. She scrambled on in, slamming the door behind her and quickly checking for a life sign from Whitthorn; he wheezed even quieter than before, weakly taking hold of her hand while trembling intensely. Kalli whispered "It'll be alright." trying to be soothing as possible while applying pressure to his stomach, the single wound kept bleeding a slow but consistent stream of warm blood. The rest of his body had held up, dried blood covering his wounds or stuck to his scales in vertical lines thanks to gravity.

Trying to sound reassuring, she continued to speak "Jeff should be here soon and we'll all-"
"Kalli." Whitthorn open his eyes slowly, weakly moving his head with a cough. She felt the suspense and adrenaline rising through her veins, worried and in anticipation for what was to be said. The prime would've interrupted him as soon as he opened his mouth, or lied through her beak with saying she brought medical supplies, but the response he gave wasn't a depressing death note. Actually, he nearly laughed while saying it. "I can't drive."

"What?" She asked, baffled. Whitthorn reached out with a trembling fist, the prime watched while keys rattled in his palm. "I can't drive." he repeated, more serious this time. It took a second for Kalli to understand what he meant, the blood loss made him nothing more than a half-paralyzed puppet. She took the keys, plugging them back into the ignition. "Alright, I'll move you to the passenger seat." she said, opening the door passenger door she slid out and ran around the front of the vehicle, opening the driver's door and pulling Whitthorn out. Carrying the half-conscious lizard, the prime would placing him in a sitting position in one of the back seats, she too was about to climb in before Whitthorn motioned her to the door, saying "I'll be alright." while clenching the wound painlessly. Once more she reluctantly closed the door on him.

Then came footsteps, numerous and crazed. Her talon slowly slipped off the door handle, looking out between the rows of vehicles. The prime then dashed to clamber onto the pickup's flatbed, looking over the rows in search of what was incoming.

At first it was just a small band of prisoners, the prime raising her rifle at the prisoners believing them to be bandits for a millisecond, but they didn't bother to look up, not even acknowledging her existence. Lowering the rifle, she merely observed them as the prisoners dispersed, leaping into any vehicle other than Whitthorn's in the front row. As soon as it seemed the last of the prisoners came and the stream of prisoners had stopped, a mob of people appeared, never ending and opening doors, taking up seats or crawling onto roofs of the vehicles they were hijacking. Jeff and Aoki came to a halt just beyond the flatbed of the pickup, hauling themselves onto it- Aoki having to be helped up by Jeff.

"Are we ready to leave?" Jeff asked impatiently, engines revving up around them as gunfire grew just as loud, bandits coming ever closer to their position.
However, he didn't get an answer "Did you find the Eldest?" Kalli asked
"No, we haven't seen her at all actually. Hows Whitthorn by the way?"

The rows of vehicles awakened with their engines, the few convoy guards there were took their places as drivers, doors slamming shut and people eagerly leaping onto the mangled cars that'd bring them their freedom. Kalli pushed Jeff aside, once more not answering his question and looking out into the town before leaping off the flatbed "A lot of people are unaccounted for, we can't just wait for you to find her!" Jeff yelled out
"Then don't!" Kalli replied.

Aoki leaped off the flatbed as well once the prime was out of sight, holding onto the pistol. "Forgot to give this back." he said to Jeff before chasing after the prime.

"Shit." Jeff muttered to himself.

***

The further away she got from the vehicles, the quieter it became, the last of the prisoners rushing past her as they were undoubtedly retreating from the remaining cannibals, bodies covered in fresh wounds or the blood of others. Kalli walked on, focused with her weapon raised while moving between the vehicles, ever watchful for movement and pointing her rifle at the slightest noise. She wasn't sure where to go, continuing because of a reason in her gut or the hundreds of thoughts in her head, one that the prime would agree on was that The Eldest was one of the more intelligent secondaries she had come across on her travels, like Whitthorn. To leave her behind with savages and a crumbling cavern wasn't a fate that Kalli would sleep well with thinking about.

After some time the prime found herself between two rather long cars, their hoods high above her, wheels larger than her own body. Kalli felt like a rat walking between these, glancing upward just to get a look at how high they went, it seemed as if they reached all the way up to the cavern's ceiling. The floodlights above the cavern town would cast the shadow of the monstrous cars, leaving her in their shadow as she came upon the next empty space between rows. The silence grew more prominent, as if the gunfire had completely disappeared. Placing her back against the rear wheel of the vehicle, she approached the empty space, leaning out to stare around the corner...

A hand suddenly grabbed her shoulder from behind.

Kalli whirled about, the hand slipping off her as she pointed her gun, breathing heavily with a hint of fear in her eyes. Once more she was left to lower her rifle without firing, rather regretfully having raised it in the first place.

The Eldest, hunched like when they first met, but much cleaner as well "We must leave, now." she stated with worry, turning about and quickly limping toward the front row.
Kalli followed her with many questions swirling in her head, "Wh- where were you? How come you weren't with the rest?"
"Malgore has plans, ones that'll be irrelevant once," she hesitated "once we escape from here."

"Not quite."

Both the prime and the tribal leader came to a halt, Kalli turned around first, a her eyes meeting Malgore's with all the anger she could muster. The Eldest meanwhile continued to worry, though was sure not to show her fear. With the howling night wind behind them, Kalli stepped toward Malgore, the two locked in their stare. He looked as if entertained by this 'contest' they were committed to, a smirk on his face. They looked at each other for what seemed to be ages, waiting for a twitch in movement. It never came, but the cars besides them did start rocking back and forth.

The bandits leaped downward in a craze, falling from the monstrous cars while Malgore merely watched them rain onto the prime, punching and hitting her with fists and blunt weapons, it wasn't long before she had completely disappeared behind all the bandits in the beating. With a satisfied grunt, Malgore walked behind walked away and disappeared out of sight. The Eldest was pushed from the bandits, let to watch as their savage, callous nature was exposed quite well. It wasn't long before the prime was fighting back, appearing again as she clawed at them, attempting to escape. The bandits would respond by holding her down, the one with the biggest weapon would follow up with hitting as hard as they could.

Just before a bandit could strike Kalli unconscious, numerous gunshots boomed near them, almost all the bandits dying by the sudden gunfire. The final two that were alive would trip over the corpses of their comrades, running off and disappearing, likely to report to Malgore. Aoki meanwhile lowered the pistol, eyes wide and hands shaking as if afraid by what was emitted by the pistol. The Eldest nodded to him before limping over to the prime, grabbing them by the arm and pulling her to her feet.

Kalli tried to stand, nearly stumbling as the familiar pain burned through her body, said pain fading away slowly. "Thanks for the help." she said, looking at Aoki. Once the prime was stable, she then asked the tribal leader "Why isn't Malgore fighting?"
"As I said, I'll explain once we're all out of here." The Eldest replied

Soon they were on the move again, The Eldest limping out toward the front row while Kalli stood straight, listening to the sound of the first vehicles riding off for the exit. Aoki tapped the prime's arm, pistol handle pointing toward her. "Here." he said
"You should keep it." Kalli pushed the pistol back toward him "Today isn't over yet."
