What do you want? - Omni - 09-10-2013

So as you've probably figured by now, this is something more of an interactive RPG than the norm. Part of the fun is gonna be player-admin interaction. I play the NPCs, you play your guys. Like a giant, ongoing game of D&D. Of course, you guys can choose to run your own stories too, but I'm the 'grand' dungeon master of sorts. Wink

That said, another thing I want to do is not be constantly stealing the stage from you guys. We already have Ganon and Thaal planning stuff out in the desert, and it looks like that's going to be a very interesting storyline in the long term. I don't want to interfere with that, unless Ganon WANTS me to interfere, for example with throwing new curveballs to deal with IC. But that's an example of the approach I'm taking. A lot of you guys from Chubbs are used to "event" and "not event", and everything that's "not event" doesn't really matter to the site as a whole. That's not going to be the case here. It's similar to the way MMORPGs have developed, where dungeons are everything and the players are all in their own little bubbles, with the world not changing particularly. I want this to be more like Minecraft. We're in a shared world here. If some players have an awesome storyline going on that affects a verse in a big way, I want to get more players, even more factions, involved if it makes sense IC, rather than interrupting with my own storyline.

So that said: is there anything you guys want to see me do? I'm mostly looking at the short-term here, but obviously you're free to drop suggestions for the long-term. I already have a plan for the overall storyline direction of the site, and even some larger things I'm hoping to do in the very near future, but I don't want to launch a big story if everyone is happy doing their own things. Similarly, if you want an event to happen, I have plenty of things I can kick off immediately in Coruscant, for example. Otherwise, I'm happy to watch for the coming weeks and work on other aspects of the site.

Re: What do you want? - Kenshin Himura - 09-10-2013

I could go for a small Coruscant event to gimme an idea of what direction I want Kenshin to move - I'm still trying to decipher his motivations in this verse. He's supposed to be a military dog so I figure I ought to sign on with the military. xD

Re: What do you want? - PepsiWhirda - 09-10-2013

Overarchingly, I think the conflict between Coruscant and Camelot is the most interesting part of the story. Since the scramble brought so many of us here, I think the coolest thing in my mind would be if you worked on subtly getting them to pick sides in the war, through NPC coercion, propaganda, etc... The subtext of this being a hugely important mounting conflict is one of the big hooks of the site IMO.

Re: What do you want? - Magus - 09-10-2013

In a purely selfish example, you could make a tiny reply to my 2nd post in the Nexus. I'd love to see if either group actually has the resources to fulfill Magus' request. It would massively influence my short-term plans. Tongue

But I do agree with Whirda. Don't leave existing alliances/wars/conflicts/etc static. They should evolve and change over time. Developments unfolding will keep people engaged and influence/be influenced by them.

Re: What do you want? - Proto Man - 09-10-2013

"Aether Saga 3: This Time, It Reaches Completion" or GTFO

Re: What do you want? - Ganondorf - 09-10-2013

Kenshin: Post in the storyline request thread on this board and a member of staff will give you something to do. :p

Whirda: Don't worry. The current factions are always going to be doing SOMETHING. If you'd like someone to try recruiting you in your storyline, you're welcome to write it or someone from staff can, if you post a request in the request thread.

Magus: Omni will get on that shortly.

Proto: I also tried to get Omni to revamp the Aether Saga. He's against it, at the moment, though if we get enough support he'll probably buckle.

Ganondorf Wrote:Magus: Omni will get on that shortly.

For... for realsies?

Re: What do you want? - Ganondorf - 09-10-2013

Maybe. Smile

Re: What do you want? - Omni - 09-10-2013

Redoing Aether saga is like remaking ... a film that doesn't need to be remade. There are so many original ideas for stories, and we're gonna take away one of their spots to redo a storyline from another RPG? Nope.

Re: What do you want? - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-10-2013

But think of all the mad bux you can make by doing a remake and adding shitty post-production 3D to it!

Re: What do you want? - Omni - 09-10-2013

We can get Ben Affleck to play U-Mos.

Re: What do you want? - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-10-2013

Don't forget we need Nic Cage in there somewhere!

Re: What do you want? - Ganondorf - 09-10-2013

Ing Emperor: I like to start of by talking softly BEFORE ENDING WITH A YELL!

Also, I'll put it out there, if enough people want a storyline, I have something I can do now, instead of further down the line like I had planned.

Re: What do you want? - Nanoha Takamachi - 09-10-2013

I would personally suggest waiting a little while before doing that. Maybe for some folks to get their power-ups and stuff because having those make story lines more exciting imo

Also let folks settle into their personal character development a but further.

Re: What do you want? - Ganondorf - 09-10-2013

That was the plan, but at least two people have expressed a desire to have something to do. And this particular story-line integrates well with personal stories.

Re: What do you want? - Omni - 09-10-2013

I don't think they mean something big, Jeff. That said, I already have plans for the immediate future.

I'll throw something little out for the Coruscant people soon, unless Jeff has some ideas or you guys wanna plot something.

Re: What do you want? - Ganondorf - 09-10-2013

Meh. My ideas are just a bunch of minor quests and the like. And I figured nothing big. I was gonna use one of my smaller storyline ideas.

Re: What do you want? - Magus - 09-11-2013

I think some quests (not a "saga") right now might be fun.

I have my ideas for an independent 'quest' but I truly don't think any of us are strong enough atm to make any significant impacts -on our own- right now.

Re: What do you want? - Ganondorf - 09-11-2013

You vastly underestimate me, sir.

If you'd like a quest, post in the Request thread and we gotcha covered.

Re: What do you want? - Illidan Stormrage - 09-11-2013

I'll be wanting to do some short character development, but after that I'm free for whatever or whatever.
