Online Tabletop Interest Thread - Ganondorf - 04-04-2015 A few folks in chat have expressed interest in this, so I figured I'd find out if anyone else would like to play. As it seems I may, or may not, be the most experienced in running these, I'd be GMing. And, as such, it would have to be on a schedule I could maintain. Likely, it would be on Friday nights, starting at midnight EST until whenever we finish (likely no more than 3 hours or so). The medium upon which we would play would be the website http://www.roll20.net I'm thinking Fate Accelerated for the ease of getting into it, and the free PDF. After that, I'll leave setting stuff up to a group vote. If you're interested and would be able to deal with the time constraints, let me know. If I get enough people, I'll start this up. If not, well... I won't. If I get too many people I'll make you guys fight it out to see who's gonna be able to play. Or I'll just up the difficulty to compensate. Current interested parties: Emerald Adam Erza Luffy Atelos Virgil Edward Dio? Whirda Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - The Dreamer - 04-04-2015 I'm interested. Although I know nothing of how to actually play tabletops, I'm interested in learning. I can probably do 12-3, although the earlier we can start and finish, the better. Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - Ganondorf - 04-04-2015 Fate Accelerated is, fortunately, really easy to learn and play. Once everyone gets a good feel for it, we might go to Fate: Core, which is a tad more complex. Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - Erza Scarlet - 04-04-2015 I have VERY basic DnD experience, but I'd certainly like to get into this stuff more. Friday nights? Sign me up! Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - Roger Smith - 04-04-2015 I am also interested. I have a small amount of experience with general tabletop shenanigans, and a moderate understanding of roll20 and a generally high learning rate to pick up rules and playstyle/whatever else. The Friday at midnight schedule also should work out fine for me, so no problems there. Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - Ganondorf - 04-04-2015 Forgot to mention, but depending on whether the group would prefer to type, or speak, we'll either be using Roll20 exclusively, or we'll be chatting through Skype and doing other stuffs on Roll20. Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - Erza Scarlet - 04-04-2015 Not even an option for Raidcall? Because, you know, it's better than skype for all but video. Just throwin' that out there Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - Monkey D. Luffy - 04-04-2015 Color me interested. However, working midnight shift would prohibit me from playing unless I have that specific Friday off. However, when I can indeed play, I shall. Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - Roger Smith - 04-04-2015 I have no issues or preferences one way or the other as far as skype or roll20 exclusively goes. also I have no idea what Raidcall is. Forgive me. Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - Ganondorf - 04-04-2015 I don't have it, but I could check it out. If everyone can agree on a preferred speaking app, we'll use that instead of Skype. Wanna mention that the more people we have in the group, the less viable voice chatting is, since we'll likely be speaking over each other. @Luffy: Fate Accelerated is really friendly towards people not being able to show up, so that'd be fine. Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - Erza Scarlet - 04-04-2015 Raidcall is basically skype but no video, uses less data, defaults to mic off + hit a button to talk, far less laggy. It may not work on some OS's though. For more people, raidcall is better because it'll be less cluttered voice-wise Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - The Dreamer - 04-04-2015 I'm good with skype if no one has dolby axon. Or raidcall i guess. I have a ventrillo and mumble server we could use for this if needed as well. Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - Guilmon - 04-04-2015 I wouldn't mind joining in. My only issue is that I work 4 Fridays at a time, but then I get 4 off. Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - Atelos - 04-04-2015 Yo yo the Spartan is interested in this stuff! Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - Vulre Oakenlimb - 04-04-2015 I'm also interested in running a campaign of my own. I'll be using the Only War rulebook from fantasy flight games, where the players take on the role of Imperial Guardsmen, little more than a name and a rank to the Imperium they fight and die to defend. The initial setting of the campaign will be the Ork-infested planet of Ganf Magna, which seems to be 70% Ork-ridden jungle, 5% Departmento Munitorum supply depot, and the remainder being largely unsavoury and filled with such terrible things such as drugs, gambling, alcohol, various other illegal activities, and a significant number of off-duty soldiers. While the planet has been in a state of stagnation for as long as people can remember, mysterious disappearances in the seedier sections of the city of Gulch (at least, more mysterious than normal) have raised some concerns amongst both the civilians and your fellow soldiers. If you fancy yourself a bad enough dude/dudette to save the planet, and find yourself free Monday or Tuesday 3:00pm EST, my skype is shasmechanicus (look for the tech priest). We'll be using text for roleplaying, although we could use voice for just chatting. We'll be using Roll 20 for rolling and combat. I haven't really run a game before, so I'll probably not be the best there is. I also have the PDFs handy, and I'm glad to share them with you. Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - PepsiWhirda - 04-04-2015 Depending on the system and my free time I'm interested. Shoot me a PM if anything develops. Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - Doomguy - 04-04-2015 I would definately interested in the ONly War game. My Skype Name is Luke_Prowler Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - Cloud Strife - 04-05-2015 I'm interested Ganon, I'm up for this. and learning to play these kinds of table top games is on my to do list so count me in Re: Online Tabletop Interest Thread - Ganondorf - 04-06-2015 For anyone interested in my game, a few things. First, here is the SRD for Fate Accelerated. http://fate-srd.com/fate-accelerated/get-started Give it a look over. Secondly, I like to keep the players involved with how the story goes. I'll pretty much give you free rein to do whatever you'd like. Of course, I'll be throwing some complications into the mix, but I won't set a story in stone. IE: You'll never have to worry about being pigeon-holed into saving the princess with me. If she's kidnapped and you guys just wanna play blackjack and hang our with hookers, that'd fine by me. Third, tying into the above, while I give you guys license to be jerks or saints, that doesn't mean there won't be consequences to, say, murdering a family of five in broad daylight. I'll be taking notes on everything you guys do and building the story from that. Maybe that one guy you bumped into on the street shows up again later on. Maybe that child you saved from rabid dogs ends up growing up to be your lover? Who knows? That should be about it. When you guys are SURE you wanna play my game, after reading the book and my tidbits about, just post a reaffirmation here. Then we'll discuss the setting, theme, and anything else about the game YOU GUYS want to have happen. |
